⁶ For the fool will do senselessness and his heart will work wickedness, to practice profaneness and to utter error against Jehovah, to make empty the soul of the hungry and to cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

¹³ As says the proverb of the ancients, Out of the wicked comes forth wickedness, but my hand will not be upon you.

¹⁰ And Nabal answered David's servants and said, Who is David? And who is the son of Jesse? There are many servants now-a-days who break away every man from his master. ¹¹ Shall I then take my bread and my water and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers and give it to men of whom I do not know from where they are?

⁵ Is not your wickedness great? Neither is there any end to your iniquities. ⁶ For you have taken pledges from your brother for nothing and stripped the naked of their clothing. ⁷ You have not given water to the weary to drink and you have withheld bread from the hungry. ⁸ But as for the mighty man, he had the land. And the honorable man, he dwelt in it. ⁹ You have sent widows away empty and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

² There are men who remove the landmarks. They take away flocks violently and feed them. ³ They drive away the donkey of the fatherless. They take the widow's ox for a pledge. ⁴ They turn the needy out of the way. The poor of the earth all hide themselves.
⁵ Behold, as wild donkeys in the desert, they go forth to their work, seeking diligently for food. The wilderness yields them bread for their sons. ⁶ They cut their fodder in the field and they glean the vintage of the wicked. ⁷ They lie all night naked without clothing and have no covering in the cold. ⁸ They are wet with the showers of the mountains and embrace the rock for want of a shelter.
⁹ There are men who pluck the fatherless from the breast and take a pledge of the poor, ¹⁰ so that they go about naked without clothing and being hungry they carry the sheaves. ¹¹ They make oil within the walls of these men. They tread their winepresses and suffer thirst. ¹² From out of the populous city men groan and the soul of the wounded cries out. Yet God does not regard the foolishness.
¹³ These are of those who rebel against the light. They do not know the ways of it, nor abide in the paths of it. ¹⁴ The murderer rises with the light. He kills the poor and needy. And in the night he is as a thief. ¹⁵ The eye also of the adulterer waits for the twilight, saying, No eye will see me. And he disguises his face.
¹⁶ In the dark they dig through houses. They shut themselves up in the daytime. They do not know the light.

¹ Do you* indeed speak righteousness in silence? Do you* judge in uprightness, O you* sons of men?
² No! You* work wickedness in heart. You* weigh out the violence of your* hands in the earth.

²⁴ There is he who scatters and increases yet more and there is he who withholds more than is proper, but only to want.
²⁵ The generous soul will be made prosperous and he who waters will also be watered himself.
²⁶ The people will curse he who withholds grain, but a blessing will be upon the head of him who sells it.

³ The foolishness of a man subverts his way and his heart rages against Jehovah.

¹⁵ What do you* mean that you* crush my people and grind the face of the poor? says the Lord, Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁷ Therefore the Lord will not rejoice over their young men, nor will he have compassion on their fatherless and widows. For everyone is profane and an evildoer and every mouth does senselessness.
For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

²³ Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? Then you* also may do good, who are accustomed to do evil.

⁶ For they have made their heart ready like an oven, while they lie in wait. Their baker sleeps all the night. In the morning it burns as a flaming fire. ⁷ They are all hot as an oven and devour their judges. All their kings are fallen. There is none among those who call to me.

⁶ Jehovah says thus: For three transgressions of Israel, yes, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they have sold a righteous man for silver and a needy man for a pair of shoes– ⁷ those who pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor and turn aside the way of the meek. And a man and his father go to the same maiden, to profane my holy name.

⁶ that we may buy the poor for silver and a needy man for a pair of shoes and sell the refuse of the wheat?

¹ Woe to those who devise wickedness and work evil upon their beds! When the morning is light they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. ² And they desire fields and seize them and houses and take them away. And they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

¹ And I said, Hear, I beseech you*, you* heads of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel. Is it not for you* to know justice? ² You* who hate the good and love the evil, who pluck off their skin from them and their flesh from their bones, ³ who also eat the flesh of my people and flay their skin from them and break their bones and chop them in pieces, as for the pot and as flesh within the caldron.

³⁴ Offspring of vipers! How are you, being evil, able to speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth is speaking. ³⁵ The good man out of his good treasure is casting out good things and the evil man out of his evil treasure is casting out evil things. ³⁶ But I am saying to you, that every idle declaration, whatever men speak, they will be giving an account in the day of judgment concerning it.

¹⁹ For out of the heart comes forth evil reasonings, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false testimonies, blasphemies.

¹³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you are devouring widows’houses, and praying long prayers for a pretext, because of this, you will be receiving even-more condemnation.

³ But Peter said, Ananias, why has the Adversary filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to pilfer part of the price of the parcel of ground? ⁴ When it remained unsold, was it not remaining yours? And when it was sold, was it not still in your authority? Why did you purpose this matter in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.

²¹ You have neither part nor inheritance in this word, for this heart of yours is not straight in God’s sight. ²² Therefore repent from this, your malice, and beseech God; if, then, the deliberation of your heart will be forgiven to you.

¹⁴ But each person is tempted, when he is pulled away and enticed by his own lust. ¹⁵ Thereafter when this lust has conceived, it bears sin, and sin, when it has matured, gives-birth to death.

²⁷ A clean and undefiled religion with our God and Father is this: to ^{F} visit ^{F} the orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

⁵ So the tongue is also a little member and boasts of magnificent things. Behold, how-vast a forest it lights with such a small fire! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, the world of unrighteousness. Thus the tongue is designated among our members as what stains the whole body and ignites the birth cycle and is ignited by hell.
