¹ The burden of Tyre. Howl, you* ships of Tarshish, for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in. It is revealed to them from the land of Kittim. ² Be still, you* inhabitants of the coast, you whom the merchants of Sidon, who pass over the sea, have replenished. ³ And on great waters the seed of the Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue and she was the mart of nations.
⁴ Be ashamed, O Sidon, for the sea has spoken, the stronghold of the sea, saying, I have not travailed, nor brought forth, neither have I nourished young men, nor brought up virgins. ⁵ When the report comes to Egypt, they will be greatly pained at the report of Tyre. ⁶ Pass over to Tarshish. Wail, you* inhabitants of the coast. ⁷ Is this your* joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days, whose feet carried her afar off to journey?
⁸ Who has purposed this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants are rulers, whose traders are the honored of the earth? ⁹ Jehovah of hosts has purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth.
¹⁰ Pass through your land as the Nile, O daughter of Tarshish, there is no restraint any more. ¹¹ He has stretched out his hand over the sea. He has shaken the kingdoms. Jehovah has given commandment concerning Canaan, to destroy the strongholds of it. ¹² And he said, You will no more rejoice, O you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Kittim, even there will you have no rest.
¹³ Behold, the land of the Chaldeans. This people once was not. The Assyrian founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness. They set up their towers. They raised up the palaces of it. Then they made it a ruin. ¹⁴ Howl, you* ships of Tarshish, for your* stronghold is laid waste.
¹⁵ And it will happen in that day, that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. After the end of seventy years it will be to Tyre as in the song of the prostitute: ¹⁶ Take a harp, go about the city, you prostitute who has been forgotten. Make sweet melody, sing many songs, that you may be remembered.
¹⁷ And it happened after the end of seventy years, that Jehovah examined Tyre and she has repented of her gift, that she play the prostitute with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth. ¹⁸ And her merchandise and her pay will be holiness to Jehovah. It will not be treasured nor laid up, for her merchandise will be for those who dwell before Jehovah, to eat sufficiently and for durable clothing.

⁴ And the sons of Javan were : Elishah and Tarshish, Kittim and Dodanim.

²⁴ But ships will come from the coast of Kittim and they will afflict Asshur and will afflict Eber and he also will come to destruction.

²⁹ and the border turned to Ramah and to the fortified city of Tyre and the border turned to Hosah. And the goings out of it were at the sea by the region of Achzib,

¹ And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants to Solomon, for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the place of his father, for Hiram was ever a devotee of David.

²² For the king had at sea a navy of Tarshish with the navy of Hiram. Once every three years the navy of Tarshish came, bringing gold and silver, ivory and apes and peacocks.

⁴⁸ Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they did not go, for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber.

²¹ For the king had ships that went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram. Once every three years the ships of Tarshish came, bringing gold and silver, ivory and apes and peacocks.

⁷ You break the ships of Tarshish with the east wind.

¹⁶ and upon all the ships of Tarshish and upon all desirable imagery.

¹ The burden of Moab. For in a night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing. For in a night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to nothing. ² They have gone up to the house and to Dibon, to the high places, to weep. Moab wails over Nebo and over Medeba. On all their heads is baldness. Every beard is cut off.

⁸ For the cry has gone all around the borders of Moab, the wailing of it to Eglaim and the wailing of it to Beer-elim.

¹² And he said, You will no more rejoice, O you oppressed virgin daughter of Sidon. Arise, pass over to Kittim, even there will you have no rest.

¹⁰ The waste city is broken down. Every house is shut up, that no man may come in.

⁹ Surely the isles will wait for me and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of Jehovah your God and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you.

¹⁰ For pass over to the isles of Kittim and see and send to Kedar and consider diligently and see if there has been such a thing.

¹⁰ Moreover I will take from them the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp. ¹¹ And this whole land will be a desolation and an astonishment. And these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

¹⁵ For Jehovah says thus, the God of Israel, to me: Take this cup of the wine of wrath at my hand and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it.

²² and all the kings of Tyre and all the kings of Sidon and the kings of the isle which is beyond the sea,

⁴ because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains. For Jehovah will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.

¹ And it happened in the eleventh year, in the first day of the month, that the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ² Son of man, because Tyre has said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken, the gate of the peoples. She has turned around to me. I will be replenished, now that she is laid waste, ³ therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against you, O Tyre and will cause many nations to come up against you, as the sea causes its waves to come up.
⁴ And they will destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers. I will also scrape her dust from her and make her a bare rock. ⁵ She will be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken it, says the lord Jehovah.
And she will become a spoil to the nations, ⁶ and her daughters who are in the field will be slain with the sword.
And they will know that I am Jehovah.
⁷ For thus says the lord Jehovah: Behold, I will bring upon Tyre, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, from the north, with horses and with chariots and with horsemen and a company and many people.
⁸ He will kill your daughters in the field with the sword. And he will make forts against you and cast up a mound against you and raise up the buckler against you. ⁹ And he will set his battering engines against your walls and with his axes he will break down your towers.
¹⁰ Because of the abundance of his horses their dust will cover you. Your walls will shake at the noise of the horsemen and of the wagons and of the chariots, when he will enter into your gates, as men enter into a city in which a breach is made.
¹¹ With the hoofs of his horses he will tread down all your streets. He will kill your people with the sword and the pillars of your strength will go down to the ground. ¹² And they will make a spoil of your riches and make a prey of your merchandise. And they will break down your walls and destroy your desirable houses and they will lay your stones and your timber and your dust in the midst of the waters.
¹³ And I will cause the roar of your songs to cease and the sound of your harps will no more be heard. ¹⁴ And I will make you a bare rock; you will be a place for the spreading of nets. You will be built no more, for I Jehovah have spoken it, says the lord Jehovah.
¹⁵ The lord Jehovah says thus to Tyre: Shall not the isles shake at the sound of your fall, when the wounded groan, when the slaughter is made in the midst of you? ¹⁶ Then all the rulers of the sea will come down from their thrones and lie aside their robes and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling. They will sit upon the ground and will tremble every moment and be astonished at you.
¹⁷ And they will take up a lamentation over you and say to you, How you are destroyed, who were inhabited by seafaring men, the renowned city that was strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, who caused their terror to be on all who dwelt there! ¹⁸ Now the isles will tremble in the day of your fall. Yes, the isles that are in the sea will be dismayed at your departure.
¹⁹ For thus says the lord Jehovah: When I will make you a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited, when I will bring up the deep upon you and the great waters will cover you, ²⁰ then I will bring you down with those who descend into the pit, to the people of old time and will make you to dwell in the nether parts of the earth, in the places that are desolate of old, with those who go down to the pit, that you not be inhabited. And I will set glory in the land of the living.
²¹ I will make you a horror and you will no more have any being. Though you are sought for, yet you will not be found again everlasting, says the lord Jehovah.

¹ The word of Jehovah came again to me, saying, ² And you, son of man, take up a lamentation over Tyre, ³ and say to Tyre, O you that dwells at the entry of the sea, that is the merchant of the peoples to many isles, thus says the lord Jehovah: you, O Tyre, have said, I am perfect in beauty. ⁴ Your borders are in the heart of the seas. Your builders have perfected your beauty. ⁵ They have made all your planks of fir trees from Senir. They have taken a cedar from Lebanon to make a mast for you. ⁶ Of the oaks of Bashan they have made your oars. They have made your benches of ivory inlaid in boxwood, from the isles of Kittim. ⁷ Of fine linen with embroidered work from Egypt was your sail, that it might be to you for an ensign. Blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was your awning.
⁸ The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your rowers. Your wise men, O Tyre, were in you; they were your pilots. ⁹ The old men of Gebal and the wise men of it were the repairers. All the ships of the sea with their mariners were in you to deal in your merchandise.
¹⁰ Persia and Lud and Put were in your army, your men of war. They hung the shield and helmet in you. They set forth your comeliness. ¹¹ The men of Arvad with your army were upon your walls all around and valorous men were in your towers. They hung their shields upon your walls all around. They have perfected your beauty.
¹² Tarshish was your merchant because of the multitude of all kinds of riches, with silver, iron, tin and lead. They traded for your wares.
¹³ Javan, Tubal and Meshech, they were your merchants. They traded the persons of men and vessels of brass for your merchandise. ¹⁴ Those of the house of Togarmah traded for your wares with horses and war-horses and mules. ¹⁵ The men of Dedan were your merchants. Many isles were the mart of your hand. They brought you in exchange horns of ivory and ebony.
¹⁶ Syria was your merchant because of the multitude of your handiworks. They traded for your wares with emeralds, purple and embroidered work and fine linen and coral and rubies.
¹⁷ Judah and the land of Israel, they were your merchants. They traded for your merchandise wheat of Minnith and pannag and honey and oil and balm.
¹⁸ Damascus was your merchant for the multitude of your handiworks, because of the multitude of all kinds of riches, with the wine of Helbon and white wool.
¹⁹ Vedan and Javan traded with yarn for your wares. Bright iron, cassia and cane, were among your merchandise. ²⁰ Dedan was your merchant in precious cloths for riding.
²¹ Arabia and all the rulers of Kedar, they were the merchants of your hand, in lambs and rams and goats. In these they were your merchants.
²² The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were your merchants. They traded for your wares with the chief of all spices and with all precious stones and gold.
²³ Haran and Canneh and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur and Chilmad, were your merchants.
²⁴ These were your merchants in choice wares, in wrappings of blue and embroidered work and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords and made of cedar, among your merchandise.

¹ The word of Jehovah came again to me, saying, ² Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, The lord Jehovah says thus: Because your heart is lifted up and you have said, I am a god. I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas. Yet you are man and not God, though you did set your heart as the heart of God.
³ Behold, you are wiser than Daniel. There is no secret that is hidden from you. ⁴ By your wisdom and by your understanding you have gotten you riches and have gotten gold and silver into your treasures. ⁵ By your great wisdom and by your traffic you have increased your riches. And your heart is lifted up because of your riches.
⁶ Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Because you have set your heart as the heart of God, ⁷ therefore, behold, I will bring strangers upon you, the terrible of the nations and they will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom and they will defile your brightness. ⁸ They will bring you down to the pit and you will die the death of those who are slain, in the heart of the seas.
⁹ Will you yet say before him who slays you, I am God? But you are man and not God, in the hand of him who wounds you. ¹⁰ You will die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers. For I have spoken it, says the lord Jehovah.
¹¹ Moreover the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ¹² Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, The lord Jehovah says thus: You seal up the sum, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
¹³ You were in Eden, the garden of God. Every precious stone was your covering, the ruby, the topaz and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald and the carbuncle and gold. The workmanship of your tambourine and of your pipes was in you. In the day that you were created they were prepared.
¹⁴ You were the anointed cherub who covers. And I set you, so that you were upon the holy mountain of God. You have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
¹⁵ You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you. ¹⁶ By the abundance of your commerce they filled the midst of you with violence and you have sinned. Therefore I have cast you out of the mountain of God as profane and I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
¹⁷ Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty. You have corrupted your wisdom because of your brightness. I have cast you to the ground. I have laid you before kings, that they may behold you.
¹⁸ By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your commerce, you have profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought out a fire from the midst of you. It has devoured you and I have turned you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all those who behold you.
¹⁹ All those who know you among the peoples will be astonished at you. You have become a horror and you will not be until everlasting.
²⁰ And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ²¹ Son of man, set your face toward Sidon and prophesy against it, ²² and say, The lord Jehovah says thus: Behold, I am against you, O Sidon. And I will be glorified in the midst of you.
And they will know that I am Jehovah, when I will have executed judgments in her and will be made holy in her. ²³ For I will send pestilence into her and blood into her streets. And the wounded will fall in the midst of her, with the sword upon her on every side.
And they will know that I am Jehovah.
²⁴ And there will no more be a prickling brier to the house of Israel, nor a hurting thorn of any who are all around them, who did spite to them.
And they will know that I am the lord Jehovah.

³⁰ For ships of Kittim will come against him. Therefore he will be grieved and will return and have indignation against the holy covenant and will do his pleasure. He will even return and have regard to those who forsake the holy covenant.

⁴ Yes and what are you* to me, O Tyre and Sidon and all the regions of Philistia? Will you* render me a recompense? And if you* recompense me, I will return your* recompense swiftly and speedily upon your* own head.
⁵ Inasmuch as you* have taken my silver and my gold and have carried into your* temples my desirable precious things, ⁶ and have sold the sons of Judah and the sons of Jerusalem to the sons of the Grecians, that you* may remove them far from their border, ⁷ behold, I will stir them up out of the place where you* have sold them and will return your* recompense upon your* own head. ⁸ And I will sell your* sons and your* daughters into the hand of the sons of Judah and they will sell them to the men of Sheba, to a nation far off. For Jehovah has spoken it.

⁹ Jehovah says thus: For three transgressions of Tyre, yes, for four, I will not turn away the punishment of it, because they delivered up the whole people to Edom and did not remember the brotherly covenant. ¹⁰ But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyre and it will devour the palaces of it.

² and also Hamath, which borders on it, Tyre and Sidon, because they are very wise. ³ And Tyre built herself a stronghold and heaped up silver as the dust and fine gold as the mud of the streets.
⁴ Behold, the Lord will dispossess her and he will kill* her power in the sea and she will be devoured with fire.

¹⁷ Because in an hour so-many riches was made desolate. And every helmsman and everyone who sails any place and sailors and as many as are working from the sea, stood from afar, ¹⁸ and were crying out, seeing the smoke of her fire, saying, What city is similar to the great city? ¹⁹ And they cast dirt upon their heads and were crying, weeping and mourning and saying, Woe, woe, the great city, in which all who had their ships in the sea were enriched out of her costliness! Because in one hour she was made desolate.

²² And the voice of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters may never be heard in you anymore, and every craftsman of every craft may never be found in you anymore, and the voice of a millstone may never be heard in you anymore; ²³ and the light of a lamp may never appear in you anymore, and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride may never be heard in you anymore. Your merchants were the great-men of the earth, because all the nations were misled in your sorcery.

¹⁰ Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.

¹ Keep silence before me, O islands and let the peoples renew their strength. Let them come near, then let them speak. Let us come near together to judgment.

⁵ Sit you silent and get you into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans, for you will no more be called The mistress of kingdoms.

³ and say to Tyre, O you that dwells at the entry of the sea, that is the merchant of the peoples to many isles, thus says the lord Jehovah: you, O Tyre, have said, I am perfect in beauty. ⁴ Your borders are in the heart of the seas. Your builders have perfected your beauty.

⁸ The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your rowers. Your wise men, O Tyre, were in you; they were your pilots. ⁹ The old men of Gebal and the wise men of it were the repairers. All the ships of the sea with their mariners were in you to deal in your merchandise.
¹⁰ Persia and Lud and Put were in your army, your men of war. They hung the shield and helmet in you. They set forth your comeliness. ¹¹ The men of Arvad with your army were upon your walls all around and valorous men were in your towers. They hung their shields upon your walls all around. They have perfected your beauty.

²² The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were your merchants. They traded for your wares with the chief of all spices and with all precious stones and gold.
²³ Haran and Canneh and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur and Chilmad, were your merchants.
²⁴ These were your merchants in choice wares, in wrappings of blue and embroidered work and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords and made of cedar, among your merchandise.
²⁵ The ships of Tarshish were your caravans for your merchandise. And you were replenished and made very glorious in the heart of the seas
²⁶ Your rowers have brought you into great waters. The east wind has broken you in the heart of the seas. ²⁷ Your riches and your wares, your merchandise, your mariners and your pilots, your repairers and the dealers in your merchandise and all your men of war, who are in you, with all your company which is in the midst of you, will fall into the heart of the seas in the day of your ruin.
²⁸ At the sound of the cry of your pilots the suburbs will shake. ²⁹ And all who handled the oar, the mariners and all the pilots of the sea, will come down from their ships. They will stand upon the land, ³⁰ and will cause their voice to be heard over you and will cry bitterly and will cast up dust upon their heads. They will wallow themselves in the ashes. ³¹ And they will make themselves bald for you and gird with sackcloth and they will weep for you in bitterness of soul with bitter mourning.
³² And in their wailing they will take up a lamentation for you and lament over you, saying, Who is there like Tyre, like her that is brought to silence in the midst of the sea? ³³ When your wares went forth out of the seas, you filled many peoples. You enriched the kings of the earth with the multitude of your riches and of your merchandise.
³⁴ In the time that you were broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, your merchandise and all your company fell in the midst of you. ³⁵ All the inhabitants of the isles are astonished at you and their kings are horribly afraid; they are troubled in their countenance. ³⁶ The merchants among the peoples hiss at you. You have become a horror and you will not be until everlasting.

² Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, The lord Jehovah says thus: Because your heart is lifted up and you have said, I am a god. I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas. Yet you are man and not God, though you did set your heart as the heart of God.

²⁰ But Jehovah is in his holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before him.

¹⁰ For the land, where you go in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from where you* came out, where you sowed your seed and watered it with your foot, as a garden of herbs,

⁵ So David assembled all Israel together, from the Shihor the brook of Egypt even to the entrance of Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim.

⁷ The meadows by the Nile, by the brink of the Nile and all the sown fields of the Nile, will become dry, be driven away and be no more.

⁸ Who has purposed this against Tyre, the giver of crowns, whose merchants are rulers, whose traders are the honored of the earth?

²⁰ You* who sow beside all waters, who send forth the feet of the ox and the donkey are fortunate.

¹⁸ And now what have you to do in the way to Egypt, to drink the waters of the Shihor? Or what have you to do in the way to Assyria, to drink the waters of the River?

³ and say to Tyre, O you that dwells at the entry of the sea, that is the merchant of the peoples to many isles, thus says the lord Jehovah: you, O Tyre, have said, I am perfect in beauty. ⁴ Your borders are in the heart of the seas. ¹¹ And the merchants of the earth will weep and will mourn over her, because no one is buying their cargo anymore; ¹² cargo of gold, silver, precious stone, pearl, fine-linen, purple, silk, scarlet, every citron wood thing, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made out of the most precious wood and from brass, iron and marble; ¹³ and cinnamon, spice, incenses, perfume, frankincense, wine, oil, fine-flour, grain, sheep, other animals, and of horses and of chariots and of bodies and souls of men.

¹⁵ And Canaan fathered Sidon his firstborn and Heth

¹⁹ And the border of the Canaanite was from Sidon, as you go toward Gerar, to Gaza, as you go toward Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboiim, to Lasha.

³ at the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels. The fathers do not look back to their sons for feebleness of hands, ⁴ because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains. For Jehovah will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.

³ therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against you, O Tyre and will cause many nations to come up against you, as the sea causes its waves to come up.
⁴ And they will destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers. I will also scrape her dust from her and make her a bare rock. ⁵ She will be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea, for I have spoken it, says the lord Jehovah.
And she will become a spoil to the nations, ⁶ and her daughters who are in the field will be slain with the sword.
And they will know that I am Jehovah.

¹¹ As for Ephraim, their glory will fly away like a bird. There will be no birth and none with child and no conception. ¹² Though they bring up their sons, yet I will bereave them, so that not a man will be left. Yes, woe also to them when I depart from them!
¹³ Ephraim, just as I have seen Tyre, is planted in a pleasant place, but Ephraim will bring out his sons to the slayer. ¹⁴ Give them, O Jehovah–what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

²³ and the light of a lamp may never appear in you anymore, and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride may never be heard in you anymore. Your merchants were the great-men of the earth, because all the nations were misled in your sorcery.

¹⁴ The peoples have heard, they tremble. Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia. ¹⁵ Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed, the mighty men of Moab. Trembling takes hold upon them. All the inhabitants of Canaan are melted away. ¹⁶ Terror and dread falls upon them. By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone, till your people pass over, O Jehovah, till the people pass over whom you have purchased.

⁹ And she said to the men, I know that Jehovah has given you* the land and that the fear of you* has fallen upon us. And that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you*.
¹⁰ For we have heard how Jehovah dried up the water of the Red Sea before you* when you* came out of Egypt and what you* did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom you* utterly destroyed. ¹¹ And as soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, neither did there remain any more spirit in any man because of you*, for Jehovah your* God, he is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.

¹⁶ In that day the Egyptians will be like women and they will tremble and fear because of the shaking of the hand of Jehovah of hosts, which he shakes over them.

¹⁵ The lord Jehovah says thus to Tyre: Shall not the isles shake at the sound of your fall, when the wounded groan, when the slaughter is made in the midst of you? ¹⁶ Then all the rulers of the sea will come down from their thrones and lie aside their robes and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling. They will sit upon the ground and will tremble every moment and be astonished at you.
¹⁷ And they will take up a lamentation over you and say to you, How you are destroyed, who were inhabited by seafaring men, the renowned city that was strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, who caused their terror to be on all who dwelt there! ¹⁸ Now the isles will tremble in the day of your fall. Yes, the isles that are in the sea will be dismayed at your departure.
¹⁹ For thus says the lord Jehovah: When I will make you a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited, when I will bring up the deep upon you and the great waters will cover you, ²⁰ then I will bring you down with those who descend into the pit, to the people of old time and will make you to dwell in the nether parts of the earth, in the places that are desolate of old, with those who go down to the pit, that you not be inhabited. And I will set glory in the land of the living.
²¹ I will make you a horror and you will no more have any being. Though you are sought for, yet you will not be found again everlasting, says the lord Jehovah.

¹⁹ All those who know you among the peoples will be astonished at you. You have become a horror and you will not be until everlasting.

⁷ Therefore Moab will wail for Moab, everyone will wail. You* will mourn for the raisin-cakes of Kir-hareseth, utterly stricken.

¹⁵ For they fled away from the swords, from the drawn sword and from the bent bow and from the grievousness of war.

¹ The burden of Tyre. Howl, you* ships of Tarshish, for it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no entering in. It is revealed to them from the land of Kittim. ² Be still, you* inhabitants of the coast, you whom the merchants of Sidon, who pass over the sea, have replenished.

¹⁰ Pass through your land as the Nile, O daughter of Tarshish, there is no restraint any more.

⁷ I have seen servants upon horses and rulers walking like servants upon the earth.

² O you that are full of shouts, a tumultuous city, a joyous town. Your slain are not slain with the sword, nor are they dead in battle.

¹³ Thorns and briers will come up on the land of my people, yes, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city.

¹ Come down and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon. Sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans. For you will no more be called tender and delicate. ² Take the millstones and grind meal. Remove your veil, strip off the train, uncover the leg, pass through the rivers.

²⁴ even all the nations will say, Why has Jehovah done thus to this land? What is the meaning of the heat of this great anger?
²⁵ Then men will say, Because they forsook the covenant of Jehovah, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, ²⁶ and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they did not know and that he had not given to them. ²⁷ Therefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book. ²⁸ And Jehovah rooted them out of their land in anger and in wrath and in great indignation and cast them into another land, as at this day.

⁸ For he says, Are not my rulers all of them kings?

⁹ How then can you turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants and put your trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

⁴⁴ Behold, the enemy will come up like a lion from the pride of the Jordan against the strong habitation. For I will suddenly make them run away from it and he who is chosen, him I will appoint over it.
For who is like me and who will appoint a time for me and who is the shepherd who can stand before me?
⁴⁵ Therefore hear the counsel of Jehovah, that he has taken against Babylon and his purposes, that he has purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely they will drag them away, even the little ones of the flock. Surely he will make their habitation desolate over them.

² Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre, The lord Jehovah says thus: Because your heart is lifted up and you have said, I am a god. I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas. Yet you are man and not God, though you did set your heart as the heart of God.
³ Behold, you are wiser than Daniel. There is no secret that is hidden from you. ⁴ By your wisdom and by your understanding you have gotten you riches and have gotten gold and silver into your treasures. ⁵ By your great wisdom and by your traffic you have increased your riches. And your heart is lifted up because of your riches.
⁶ Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Because you have set your heart as the heart of God,

¹² Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre and say to him, The lord Jehovah says thus: You seal up the sum, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
¹³ You were in Eden, the garden of God. Every precious stone was your covering, the ruby, the topaz and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald and the carbuncle and gold. The workmanship of your tambourine and of your pipes was in you. In the day that you were created they were prepared.
¹⁴ You were the anointed cherub who covers. And I set you, so that you were upon the holy mountain of God. You have walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
¹⁵ You were perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, till unrighteousness was found in you. ¹⁶ By the abundance of your commerce they filled the midst of you with violence and you have sinned. Therefore I have cast you out of the mountain of God as profane and I have destroyed you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
¹⁷ Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty. You have corrupted your wisdom because of your brightness. I have cast you to the ground. I have laid you before kings, that they may behold you.
¹⁸ By the multitude of your iniquities, in the unrighteousness of your commerce, you have profaned your sanctuaries. Therefore I have brought out a fire from the midst of you. It has devoured you and I have turned you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all those who behold you.

⁸ Because of this, in one day her wounds will come–death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned in fire, because strong is the Lord God who judged her.

²¹ He pours contempt upon rulers and weakens the strength of the strong.

¹¹ Pour forth the overflowing of your anger and look upon everyone who is proud and humble him.
¹² Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low and tread down the wicked where they stand.

⁴⁰ He pours contempt upon rulers and makes them to wander in the waste, where there is no way.

¹¹ The lofty looks of man will be brought low and the haughtiness of men will be bowed down and Jehovah alone will be exalted in that day.

¹³ Therefore my people have gone into captivity for lack of knowledge and their honorable men are famished and their multitude are parched with thirst.

¹⁵ And the common man is bowed down and the great man is debased and the eyes of the lofty are humbled, ¹⁶ but Jehovah of hosts is exalted in justice and God the Holy One is made holy in righteousness.

¹⁵ The elder and the honorable man, he is the head. And the prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail.

³³ Behold, the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, will lop off the branches with terror. And the high of stature will be hewn down and the lofty will be brought low.

¹¹ And I will punish the world for the evil and the wicked for their iniquity. And I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease and will humble the haughtiness of the terrible.

²⁴ Jehovah of hosts has sworn, saying, Surely, as I have thought, so will it happen and as I have purposed, so will it stand,

²⁷ For Jehovah of hosts has purposed and who will annul it? And his hand is stretched out and who will turn it back?

¹⁰ declaring the end from the beginning and from long-ago things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel will stand and I will do all my pleasure, ¹¹ calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. Yes, I have spoken. I will also make it occur. I have purposed. I will also do it.

⁶ O you sword of Jehovah, how long will you be quiet? Put up yourself into your scabbard. Rest and be still. ⁷ How can you be quiet, since Jehovah has given you a charge against Ashkelon and against the sea-shore. He has appointed it there.

⁶² And say, O Jehovah, you have spoken concerning this place, to cut it off, that none will dwell in it, neither man nor beast, but that it will be everlasting desolate.

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are truth and his ways justice. And he is able to humble those who walk in pride.

¹ For, behold, the day comes, it burns as a furnace and all the proud and all who work wickedness, will be stubble. And the day that comes will burn them up, says Jehovah of hosts, that it will leave them neither root nor branch.

²⁸ to do as many things as your hand and your council predetermined to happen.

²⁶ For you see your calling brethren, that not many are wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble. ²⁷ But God chose the foolish things of the world, in order that he might shame the wise, and God chose the weak things of the world, in order that he might shame the strong; ²⁸ and God chose the ignoble things of the world and the things which have been scorned and the things which are not, in order that he might do-away-with the things which are; ²⁹ that no flesh might boast in God’s sight.

¹¹ In him in whom, we were also made an inheritance, having been predetermined according to the purpose of the one who is working all things after the plan of his will.

¹¹ This was according to the everlasting purpose which he made in Christ Jesus our Lord;

⁶ But he is giving greater grace. Hence the Scripture says, ‘God resists the haughty, but gives grace to the humble.’

²⁰ Then Saul fell immediately his full length upon the earth and was greatly afraid because of the words of Samuel and there was no strength in him, for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.

³² the God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect?

¹⁴ Howl, you* ships of Tarshish, for your* stronghold is laid waste.

⁶ And from the daughter of Zion all her majesty is departed. Her rulers have become like male-deers that find no pasture. And they have gone without strength before the pursuer.

²² And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the nations. And I will overthrow the chariots and those who ride in them. And the horses and their riders will come down, each one by the sword of his brother.

⁶ For when we were still weak, according to the proper time, Christ died on behalf of the ungodly.

²⁵ And he said, Cursed be Canaan. He will be a servant to his brothers.

⁶ The nations raged, the kingdoms were shaken, he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

³ Be to me a rock of habitation to which I may continually resort. You have given commandment to save me, because you are my rock and my fortress.

¹⁹ And men will go into the caves of the rocks and into the holes of the earth, from before the terror of Jehovah and from the glory of his majesty, when he arises to shake the earth mightily.

⁶ I will send him against a profane nation and against the people of my wrath. I will give him a charge, to take the spoil and to take the prey and to tread them down like the mud of the streets.

¹⁶ Those who see you will gaze at you. They will consider you, saying, Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms, ¹⁷ who made the world as a wilderness and overthrew the cities of it, who did not let loose his prisoners to their home?

³ And on great waters the seed of the Shihor, the harvest of the Nile, was her revenue and she was the mart of nations.

² For you have made of a city a heap, of a fortified city a ruin, a palace of strangers to be no city. It will not be built everlasting.

¹⁶ I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall when I cast him down to Sheol with those who descend into the pit. And all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the nether parts of the earth.

⁷ He is a Canaanite. The balances of deceit are in his hand. He loves to oppress. ⁸ And Ephraim said, Surely I have become rich. I have found wealth for myself. In all my labors they will find no iniquity in me that is sin.

¹⁴ And Jehovah has given commandment concerning you, that no more of your name be sown. Out of the house of your gods I will cut off the graven image and the molten image. I will make your grave, for you are vile.

⁷ And I will shake all nations and the delight of all nations will come and I will fill this house with glory, says Jehovah of hosts.

²¹ Yes, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be holy to Jehovah of hosts. And all those who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in it. And in that day there will be no more a Canaanite in the house of Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁷ And he was teaching them, saying to them, Has it not been written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations? But you have made it a den of robbers.’

¹⁶ and to the ones who are selling the doves he said, Take these things from here. Do not make my Father’s house a house of merchandise.

¹³ Zebulun will dwell at the haven of the sea and he will be for a haven of ships. And his border will be upon Sidon.

⁶⁴ And Jehovah will scatter you among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. And you will serve other gods there, which you have not known, you nor your fathers, even wood and stone ones.
⁶⁵ And among these nations you will find no ease and there will be no rest for the sole of your foot, but Jehovah will give you there a trembling heart and failing of eyes and pining of soul. ⁶⁶ And your life will hang in doubt before you and you will fear night and day and will have no assurance of your life. ⁶⁷ In the morning you will say, Would it were evening! and at evening you will say, Would it were morning! for the fear of your heart which you will fear and for the sight of your eyes which you will see.

⁸ And Jehovah delivered them into the hand of Israel and they killed* them and chased them to great Sidon and to Misrephoth-maim and to the valley of Mizpeh eastward. And they killed* them until they left them none remaining.

⁷ Is this your* joyous city, whose antiquity is of ancient days, whose feet carried her afar off to journey?

²² this is the word which Jehovah has spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and laughed you to scorn. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.

¹⁷ And you will say this word to them: Let my eyes run down with tears night and day and do not let them cease. For the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very grievous wound.

¹¹ Go up into Gilead and take balm, O virgin daughter of Egypt. In vain do you use many medicines; there is no healing for you.

³ Judah has gone into captivity because of affliction. And because of great servitude she dwells among the nations. She finds no rest. All her persecutors overtook her in the distress.

¹⁵ The Lord has tossed-aside all my mighty men in the midst of me. He has called a solemn assembly against me to crush my young men. The Lord has trodden the virgin daughter of Judah as in a winepress.

¹⁵ Depart, they cried to them. Unclean! Depart, depart, do not touch! When they fled away and wandered, men said among the nations, They will no more journey here.

¹³ And I will cause the roar of your songs to cease and the sound of your harps will no more be heard. ¹⁴ And I will make you a bare rock; you will be a place for the spreading of nets. You will be built no more, for I Jehovah have spoken it, says the lord Jehovah.

⁶ Of the oaks of Bashan they have made your oars. They have made your benches of ivory inlaid in boxwood, from the isles of Kittim.

²² And the voice of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters may never be heard in you anymore, and every craftsman of every craft may never be found in you anymore, and the voice of a millstone may never be heard in you anymore;

¹⁴ And the name of the third river is Hiddekel. It is that river which goes east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

¹⁰ And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. ¹¹ He went forth out of that land into Assyria and built Nineveh and Rehoboth-ir and Calah

⁹ Therefore the name of it was called Babel, because Jehovah confounded the language of all the earth there and Jehovah scattered them abroad upon the face of all the earth from there.

²⁸ And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldeans.

³¹ And Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his son's son and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife. And they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldeans, to go into the land of Canaan. And they came to Haran and dwelt there.

²⁴ And the king of Assyria brought men from Babylon and from Cuthah and from Avva and from Hamath and Sepharvaim and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the sons of Israel. And they possessed Samaria and dwelt in the cities of it.

¹² At that time Berodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

¹¹ Therefore Jehovah brought upon them the captains of the army of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh in chains and bound him with fetters and carried him to Babylon.

⁹ Then wrote Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe and the rest of their companions, the Dinaites and the Apharsathchites, the men of Erech, the Babylonians, the men of Susa, (that is the Elamites), ¹⁰ and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Osnappar brought over and set in the city of Samaria and in the rest beyond the River and so forth.

¹⁷ While he was yet speaking, there came also another and said, The Chaldeans made three bands and fell upon the camels and have taken them away, yes and slain the servants with the edge of the sword and only I alone have escaped to tell you.

⁹ Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before him and his enemies will lick the dust.

⁵ Ho, Assyrian, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation!

⁷ However he does not so reason, nor does his heart so think, but it is in his heart to destroy and to cut off nations not a few.

¹⁹ And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldeans' pride, will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

⁸ He will kill your daughters in the field with the sword. And he will make forts against you and cast up a mound against you and raise up the buckler against you. ⁹ And he will set his battering engines against your walls and with his axes he will break down your towers.
¹⁰ Because of the abundance of his horses their dust will cover you. Your walls will shake at the noise of the horsemen and of the wagons and of the chariots, when he will enter into your gates, as men enter into a city in which a breach is made.

¹³ And I will cause the roar of your songs to cease and the sound of your harps will no more be heard. ¹⁴ And I will make you a bare rock; you will be a place for the spreading of nets. You will be built no more, for I Jehovah have spoken it, says the lord Jehovah.

¹⁸ Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon caused his army to serve a great service against Tyre. Every head was made bald and every shoulder was worn, yet he had no wages, nor his army, from Tyre, for the service that he had served against it.

³⁰ The king spoke and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling-place by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?

⁶ For behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, who march through the breadth of the earth to possess dwelling-places that are not theirs.

⁴ Then when he came out of the land of the Chaldeans, he dwelt in Haran and after his father died, God exiled him from there into this land in which you are now dwelling.

²⁵ The ships of Tarshish were your caravans for your merchandise. And you were replenished and made very glorious in the heart of the seas
²⁶ Your rowers have brought you into great waters. The east wind has broken you in the heart of the seas. ²⁷ Your riches and your wares, your merchandise, your mariners and your pilots, your repairers and the dealers in your merchandise and all your men of war, who are in you, with all your company which is in the midst of you, will fall into the heart of the seas in the day of your ruin.
²⁸ At the sound of the cry of your pilots the suburbs will shake. ²⁹ And all who handled the oar, the mariners and all the pilots of the sea, will come down from their ships. They will stand upon the land, ³⁰ and will cause their voice to be heard over you and will cry bitterly and will cast up dust upon their heads. They will wallow themselves in the ashes.

¹¹ And the merchants of the earth will weep and will mourn over her, because no one is buying their cargo anymore; ¹² cargo of gold, silver, precious stone, pearl, fine-linen, purple, silk, scarlet, every citron wood thing, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made out of the most precious wood and from brass, iron and marble; ¹³ and cinnamon, spice, incenses, perfume, frankincense, wine, oil, fine-flour, grain, sheep, other animals, and of horses and of chariots and of bodies and souls of men. ¹⁴ And the autumn-fruits of lust of your soul have gone away from you and all things which were luxurious and bright have perished from you and you may never find them anymore. ¹⁵ The merchants of these things, who were enriched from her, will be standing from afar because of the fear of her torment, while weeping and mourning. ¹⁶ And they are saying, Woe, woe, the great city, she who has been dressed in fine-linen, and purple and scarlet and has been arrayed in gold, precious stone and pearls!

⁹ behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says Jehovah and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant and will bring them against this land and against the inhabitants of it and against all these nations all around. And I will utterly destroy them and make them an astonishment and a hissing and everlasting desolations.

³ And send them to the king of Edom and to the king of Moab and to the king of the sons of Ammon and to the king of Tyre and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah.
⁴ And give them a charge to their masters, saying, Jehovah of hosts says thus, the God of Israel: Thus you* will say to your* masters: ⁵ I have made the earth, the men and the beasts that are upon the face of the earth, by my great power and by my outstretched arm and I give it to whom it seems right to me.
⁶ And now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant. And the beasts of the field I have also given him to serve him. ⁷ And all the nations will serve him and his son and his son's son, until the time of his own land comes. And then many nations and great kings will make him their bondman.

¹⁰ For Jehovah says thus, After seventy years are accomplished for Babylon, I will visit you* and perform my good word toward you* in causing you* to return to this place.

²⁵ The ships of Tarshish were your caravans for your merchandise. And you were replenished and made very glorious in the heart of the seas

¹¹ No foot of man will pass through it, nor foot of beast will pass through it. Neither will it be inhabited forty years.

¹⁴ And there was given him dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which will not pass away and his kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.

²¹ And the rough male-goat is the king of Greece. And the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

¹⁵ And I will give her, her vineyards from there and the valley of Achor for a door of hope. And she will make answer there, as in the days of her youth and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.

¹⁰ and they are seven kings; the five have fallen, the one is, the other has not yet come, and whenever he comes, it is essential for him to remain a few.

¹⁰ And behold, a woman attired like a prostitute and with a guarded heart met him there. ¹¹ She is loud and headstrong. Her feet do not abide in her house. ¹² Now she is in the streets, now in the broad places and lies in wait at every corner.

¹⁴ All who love you have forgotten you; they do not seek you. For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the greatness of your iniquity, because your sins were increased.

¹⁸ You will not bring the hire of a prostitute, or the wages of a dog, into the house of Jehovah your God for any vow, for even both these are an abomination to Jehovah your God.

²⁶ You have also committed fornication with the Egyptians, your neighbors, great of flesh and have multiplied your prostitution, to provoke me to anger.

³¹ in that you build your vaulted place at the head of every way and make your lofty place in every street. And have not even been as a prostitute, in that you scorn hire.

¹³ Behold, therefore, I have struck my hand at your dishonest gain which you have made and at your blood which has been in the midst of you.

⁶ Of the oaks of Bashan they have made your oars. They have made your benches of ivory inlaid in boxwood, from the isles of Kittim. ⁷ Of fine linen with embroidered work from Egypt was your sail, that it might be to you for an ensign. Blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was your awning.

⁷ And all her graven images will be beaten to pieces. And all her wages will be burned with fire and I will lay desolate all her idols. For she has gathered them from the wages of a prostitute and to the wage of a prostitute they will return.

¹¹ The heads of it judge for a bribe and the priests of it teach for a wage and the prophets of it divine for money.
Yet they lean upon Jehovah and say, Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? No evil will come upon us.

⁴ because of the multitude of the prostitutions of the fine-looking prostitute, the mistress of witchcrafts, who sells nations through her prostitutions and families through her witchcrafts.

⁷ And the coast will be for the remnant of the house of Judah. They will feed their flocks upon it. In the houses of Ashkelon they will lie down in the evening. For Jehovah their God will visit them and bring back their captivity.

¹⁴ Symeon has described, just-as how God visited the nations first, to take out of them a people for his name.

³ not a drunkard, not a bully, not covetous, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a money-lover;

⁸ Deacons likewise must be honorable, not double-tongued, not taking-heed to much wine, not covetous;

² Shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising the oversight, not by compulsion, but willfully, nor covetously, but eagerly;

¹ And one out of the seven messengers who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, Come-here. I will be showing you the judgment of the great prostitute who is sitting upon many waters; ² with whom the kings of the earth fornicated and those who are dwelling in the earth were made drunken from the wine of her fornication. ³ And he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness and I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet beast, being full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. ⁴ And the woman having been dressed in purple and scarlet arrayed with gold and precious stone and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup being full of abominations and the unclean things of her fornication of the earth, ⁵ and a name has been written upon her forehead, Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of the Prostitutes and of the Abominations of the Earth.

⁹ And the kings of the earth, who fornicated and were promiscuous with her, will weep and will grieve over her, whenever they look upon the smoke of her fire, ¹⁰ standing from afar because of their fear of her torment, saying, Woe, woe, the great city, Babylon, the strong city! ² because true and righteous are his judgments, because he has judged the great prostitute, she who was corrupting the earth in her fornication and he has avenged the blood of his bondservants from her hand.

³⁶ And you will make a plate of pure gold and engrave upon it, like the engravings of a signet, HOLY TO JEHOVAH.

¹⁸ But you will eat them before Jehovah your God in the place which Jehovah your God will choose, you and your son and your daughter and your man-servant and your maid-servant and the Levite who is within your gates. And you will rejoice before Jehovah your God in all that you put your hand to. ¹⁹ Take heed to yourself that you not forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land.

¹² When you have made an end of tithing all the tithe of your increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, then you will give it to the Levite, to the traveler, to the fatherless and to the widow, that they may eat within your gates and be filled.
¹³ And you will say before Jehovah your God, I have put away the holy things out of my house and also have given them to the Levite and to the traveler, to the fatherless and to the widow, according to all your commandment which you have commanded me. I have not transgressed any of your commandments, neither have I forgotten them. ¹⁴ I have not eaten of it in my mourning, neither have I put away from it, being unclean, nor given of it for the dead. I have listened to the voice of Jehovah my God. I have done according to all that you have commanded me.

⁷ Now therefore send me a man skillful to work in gold and in silver and in brass and in iron and in purple and crimson and blue and who knows how to engrave engravings, to be with the skillful men who are with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.
⁸ Send to me also cedar trees, fir trees and algum trees, out of Lebanon. For I know that your servants know how to cut timber in Lebanon. And behold, my servants will be with your servants, ⁹ even to prepare for me timber in abundance. For the house which I am about to build will be great and wonderful.

¹¹ Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because Jehovah loves his people, he has made you king over them. ¹² Huram said moreover, Praise Jehovah, the God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who has given to David the king a wise son, endued with discretion and understanding, that should build a house for Jehovah and a house for his kingdom.
¹³ And now I have sent a skillful man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father's, ¹⁴ the son of a woman of the daughters of Dan. And his father was a man of Tyre, skillful to work in gold and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone and in timber, in purple, in blue and in fine linen and in crimson, also to engrave any manner of engraving and to devise any device, that there may be a place appointed to him with your skillful men and with the skillful men of my lord David your father.
¹⁵ Now therefore the wheat and the barley, the oil and the wine, which my lord has spoken of, let him send to his servants. ¹⁶ And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as you will need. And we will bring it to you in floats by sea to Joppa and you will carry it up to Jerusalem.

¹² And the daughter of Tyre will adore him with a gift. The rich among the people will entreat your favor.

¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will render tribute. The kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts.

⁹ Honor Jehovah with your substance and with the first-fruits of all your increase, ¹⁰ so your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine.

²² A good man leaves an inheritance to his son's sons and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the righteous.

⁸ He who multiplies his substance by interest and increase, gathers it for him who has pity on the poor.

²⁶ Because to the man who pleases him God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he gives tasks to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

⁵ Then you will see and be radiant and your heart will thrill and be enlarged, because the abundance of the sea will be turned to you. The wealth of the nations will come to you. ⁶ The multitude of camels will cover you. The dromedaries of Midian and Ephah, all those from Sheba will come. They will bring gold and frankincense and will proclaim the praises of Jehovah. ⁷ All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered together to you. The rams of Nebaioth will minister to you. They will come up with acceptance on my altar and I will glorify the house of my glory.
⁸ Who are these that fly as a cloud and as the doves to their windows? ⁹ Surely the isles will wait for me and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of Jehovah your God and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you.

¹³ Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion, for I will make your horn iron and I will make your hoofs brass and you will beat many peoples in pieces. And I will devote their gain to Jehovah and their substance to the Lord of the whole earth.

²⁰ In that day there will be upon the bells of the horses, HOLY TO JEHOVAH and the pots in Jehovah's house will be like the bowls before the altar. ²¹ Yes, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah will be holy to Jehovah of hosts. And all those who sacrifice will come and take of them and boil in it. And in that day there will be no more a Canaanite in the house of Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁰ Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house and prove me now with this, says Jehovah of hosts, if I will not open to you* the windows of heaven and pour you* out a blessing, that there will not be room enough for it.

¹⁹ Do not store up treasures for you upon the earth, where moth and rust ingest, and where thieves burrow through your^\'b0 wall and steal. ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust ingest, and where thieves do not burrow through or steal. ²¹ For where your treasure is, your heart will also be there.

³⁵ for I was hungry and you gave me food to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you led me in; ³⁶ I was naked and you dressed me; I was sick and you visited me; I was in prison and you came to me.
³⁷ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry and nourish you? Or thirsty and gave you a drink? ³⁸ But when did we see you as a stranger and lead you in? Or naked and dressed you? ³⁹ But when did we see you sick or in prison and came to you?
⁴⁰ And when the King answers, he will say to them, Assuredly I am saying to you, Inasmuch as you did it to one of these, my brethren, even the least, you did it to me.

⁸ and from Jerusalem and from Idumaea, and beyond-that of the Jordan, and those around Tyre and Sidon. This large multitude, having heard how-much he was doing, came to him.

¹⁸ And he said, I will be doing this: I will be taking down my barns and build greater ones. And I will be gathering together there, all my fruits of labor and my good things. ¹⁹ And I will be saying to my soul, Soul, you have many good things laid up for many years; rest yourself, eat, drink, and be joyous.
²⁰ But God said to him, Fool, your soul is asked back from you in this night, and the things which you prepared, whose will they be?

³³ Sell your possessions and give as charity; make^*\'b0 for yourselves money-bags which do not become-obsolete, an unfailing treasure in the heavens, where no thief draws near, nor moth corrupts.

⁹ And I say to you, Make^*\'b0 friends for yourselves out of the money of unrighteousness; in order that, whenever it fails, they may accept you into the everlasting tabernacles. ¹⁰ The faithful in the least matters is also faithful in much, and the unrighteous in the least matters is also unrighteous in much. ¹¹ Therefore, if you have not become faithful in the unrighteous money, who will be entrusting the true riches to you? ¹² And if you have not become faithful in what is another’s, who will be giving you what is yours? ¹³ No domestic servant is able to serve two lords; for either he will hate the one and love the other; for either he will hold to one and despise the other. You are not able to serve God and money.

³⁹ Now having stood up, Peter went together with them, those who had come to him, and they led him into the upstairs-room. And all the widows stood by him weeping and showing the tunics and garments; as many as Dorcas was making, when she was with them.

³ Now when Cyprus had appeared, leaving it on the left, we were sailing to Syria and brought the ship into Tyre; for the ship was unloading her cargo there. ⁴ And having found disciples, we remained there seven days, and these disciples were saying to Paul through the Spirit, that he should not go up to Jerusalem. ⁵ Now when it happened for us to finish the days there, we came out and were traveling on, and they all, together with their wives and children, sent us onward until we were outside the city, and having placed the knees down upon the beach, we prayed,

²⁵ But now, I am traveling to Jerusalem, serving the holy-ones. ²⁶ For Macedonia and Achaia were delighted to make a certain generosity to the poor of the holy-ones in Jerusalem. ²⁷ For they were delighted and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles shared in the spiritual things of them, they owe it to them also to minister to them in the fleshly things.

⁶ But let him, who is instructed in the word, share in all good things with the one who instructs.

¹⁷ Not that I am seeking after the present, but I am seeking after the fruit that increases to your account. ¹⁸ But I have all things, and I am abounding. I have been filled, having accepted from Epaphroditus the things which came from you, an aroma of a sweet-fragrance, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.
