The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; 20 the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, carnelian; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, hyacinth; the twelfth, amethyst. 21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls apiece; each one of the gates was from one pearl, respectively and the street of the city was purest gold like transparent glass. 22 And I saw no temple in it; for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 And the city has no need of the sun, neither of the moon, in order that they should appear in it; for the glory of God illuminated it and its lamp is the Lamb. 24 And the nations will be walking in its light and the kings of the earth bring glory to him and the honor of the nations into it. 25 And its gates may never be locked by day (for there will be no night there). 26 And they will be bringing the glory and the honor of the nations into it. 27 And any desecrated thing or anyone practicing an abomination and a lie may never enter into it; except those who have been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life may enter into it.

20 But when his heart was lifted up and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was deposed from his kingly throne. And they took his glory from him, 21 and he was driven from the sons of men. And his heart was made like the beasts and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. He was fed with grass like oxen and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, until he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men and that he sets up over it whomever he will.
22 And you his son, O Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this, 23 but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven. And they have brought the vessels of his house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of brass, iron, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor know. And the God in whose hand your breath is and whose are all your ways, you have not glorified.
24 Then the part of the hand was sent from before him and this writing was inscribed.

24 You have defied the Lord by your servants and have said, I have come up to the height of the mountains with the multitude of my chariots, to the innermost parts of Lebanon. Ezekiel 31:3-12

3 Behold, the Assyrian was a cedar in Lebanon with fair branches and with a forest-like shade and of high stature and its top was among the thick branches. 4 The waters nourished it. The deep made it to grow. The rivers of it ran all around its plantation and it sent out its channels to all the trees of the field.
5 Therefore its stature was exalted above all the trees of the field and its boughs were multiplied and its branches became long because of many waters, when it shot them forth. 6 All the birds of the heavens made their nests in its boughs and under its branches all the beasts of the field brought out their young and under its shadow dwelt all great nations.
7 Thus it was beautiful in its greatness, in the length of its branches, for its root was by many waters. 8 The cedars in the garden of God could not dim it. The fir trees were not like its boughs and the plane trees were not as its branches, nor was any tree in the garden of God like it in its beauty.
9 I made it beautiful by the multitude of its branches, so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied it.
10 Therefore thus said the lord Jehovah: Because you are exalted in stature and he has set his top among the thick branches and his heart is lifted up in his height, 11 I will even deliver him into the hand of the mighty one of the nations. He will surely deal with him; I have driven him out for his wickedness.
12 And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off and have left him. Upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen and his boughs are broken by all the watercourses of the land. And all the peoples of the earth have gone down from his shadow and have left him.

3 Behold, you are wiser than Daniel. There is no secret that is hidden from you. 4 By your wisdom and by your understanding you have gotten you riches and have gotten gold and silver into your treasures. 5 By your great wisdom and by your traffic you have increased your riches. And your heart is lifted up because of your riches.
6 Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Because you have set your heart as the heart of God, 7 therefore, behold, I will bring strangers upon you, the terrible of the nations and they will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom and they will defile your brightness.

8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils and fire out of his mouth devoured. Coals were kindled by it. 9 He also bowed the heavens and came down and thick darkness was under his feet.
10 And he rode upon a cherub and flew. Yes, he soared upon the wings of the wind.
11 He made darkness his hiding-place, his pavilion all around him, darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
12 At the brightness before him his thick clouds passed, hailstones and coals of fire. 13 Jehovah also thundered in the heavens and the Most High uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire. 14 And he sent out his arrows and scattered them, Yes, lightnings shot out and confused them.
