¹ And the famine was severe in the land. ² And it happened, when they had eaten up the grain which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said to them, Go again, buy us a little food.
³ And Judah spoke to him, saying, The man solemnly protested to us, saying, You* will not see my face unless your* brother be with you*. ⁴ If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy food for you, ⁵ but if you will not send him, we will not go down. For the man said to us, You* will not see my face unless your* brother be with you*.
⁶ And Israel said, Why did you* deal so ill with me, as to tell the man whether you* had yet a brother? ⁷ And they said, The man asked diligently concerning ourselves and concerning our kindred, saying, Is your* father yet alive? Have you* another brother? And we told him according to the tenor of these words. Could we in any way know that he would say, Bring your* brother down?
⁸ And Judah said to Israel his father, Send the young man with me and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, both we and you and also our little ones. ⁹ I will be a surety for him, of my hand will you require him. If I do not bring him to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever. ¹⁰ For unless we had lingered, surely we would have now returned a second time.
¹¹ And their father Israel said to them, If it is so now, do this: take of the choice fruits of the land in your* vessels and carry a present down to the man, a little balm and a little honey, spicery and myrrh, nuts and almonds. ¹² And take double money in your* hand and the money that was returned in the mouth of your* sacks carry again in your* hand. Perhaps it was an oversight. ¹³ Also take your* brother and arise, go again to the man.
¹⁴ And God Almighty give you* mercy before the man, that he may release to you* your* other brother and Benjamin. And if I be bereaved of my sons, I am bereaved.
¹⁵ And the men took that present and they took double money in their hand and Benjamin and rose up and went down to Egypt and stood before Joseph.
¹⁶ And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, Bring the men into the house and kill and make ready, because the men will dine with me at noon. ¹⁷ And the man did as Joseph commanded and the man brought the men to Joseph's house.
¹⁸ And the men were afraid, because they were brought to Joseph's house and they said, We are brought in because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time, that he may seek occasion against us and fall upon us and take us for bondmen and our donkeys.
¹⁹ And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house and they spoke to him at the door of the house, ²⁰ and said, Oh, my lord, we indeed came down at the first time to buy food. ²¹ And it happened, when we came to the lodging place, that we opened our sacks, and behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight. And we have brought it again in our hand. ²² And we have brought other money down in our hand to buy food. We do not know who put our money in our sacks.
²³ And he said, Peace be to you*, do not fear. Your* God and the God of your* father, has given you* treasure in your* sacks. I had your* money.
And he brought Simeon out to them. ²⁴ And the man brought the men into Joseph's house and gave them water and they washed their feet. And he gave their donkeys fodder. ²⁵ And they made ready the present against Joseph's coming at noon, because they heard that they should eat bread there.
²⁶ And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house and bowed themselves to him to the earth. ²⁷ And he asked them of their welfare and said, Is your* father well, the old man of whom you* spoke? Is he yet alive? ²⁸ And they said, Your servant our father is well; he is yet alive. And they bowed the head and then bowed-down to him.
²⁹ And he lifted up his eyes and saw Benjamin his brother, his mother's son and said, Is this your* youngest brother, of whom you* spoke to me? And he said, God be gracious to you, my son. ³⁰ And Joseph made haste, becausehis heart yearned over his brother and he sought where to weep. And he entered into his chamber and wept there. ³¹ And he washed his face and came out. And he restrained himself and said, Set on bread.
³² And they set on for him by himself and for them by themselves and for the Egyptians, who ate with him, by themselves, because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews, becausethat is an abomination to the Egyptians.
³³ And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright and the youngest according to his youth. And the men marveled one with another. ³⁴ And he took and sent portions to them from before him, but Benjamin's portion was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank and were merry with him.

¹⁰ And there was a famine in the land. And Abram went down into Egypt to journey there, because the famine was severe in the land.

¹³ And Jehovah said to Abraham, Why did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I who am old certainly bear a child?

⁵⁴ And the seven years of famine began to come, just-as Joseph had said. And there was famine in all lands, but in all the land of Egypt there was bread. ⁵⁵ And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread. And Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, Go to Joseph; what he says to you*, do.
⁵⁶ And the famine was over all the face of the earth. And Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold to the Egyptians. And the famine was severe in the land of Egypt. ⁵⁷ And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph to buy grain, because the famine was severe on all the earth.

⁵ And the sons of Israel came to buy among those who came, because the famine was in the land of Canaan.

¹ This I laid to my heart for all, even to explore all this, that the righteous and the wise and their works, are in the hand of God. No man understands, either love or hatred. All is before them.
² All things come alike to all. There is one event to the righteous man and to the wicked man, to the good man and to the clean man and to the unclean man, to him who sacrifices and to him who does not sacrifice, as is the good man, so is the sinner and he who swears, as he who fears an oath.

¹⁰ Our skin is black like an oven, because of the burning heat of famine.

¹¹ Now there came a famine and great affliction upon the whole of Egypt and Canaan and our fathers were finding no sustenance. ¹² But when Jacob heard of grain being in Egypt, he sent forth our fathers the first time. ¹³ And by the second-time, Joseph was recognized by his brethren, and Joseph’s race became apparent to the Pharaoh.

¹ Now Jacob saw that there was grain in Egypt. And Jacob said to his sons, Why do you* look one upon another? ² And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. You* get down there and buy for us from there, that we may live and not die.

⁴ If you will send our brother with us, we will go down and buy food for you,

²⁰ and said, Oh, my lord, we indeed came down at the first time to buy food.

¹⁶ Better is little with the fear of Jehovah, than great treasure and trouble with it.

¹⁸ Pride is before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.

¹⁶ She considers a field and buys it. She plants a vineyard with the fruit of her hands.

⁸ But if anyone is not planning-for his own and especially his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is a great method to earnings; ⁷ for we brought nothing into the world, nor it is evident that we are able to carry anything out; ⁸ but we will be content with these things, having nourishment and clothes.

¹⁵ By this you* will be proved; by the life of Pharaoh you* will not go forth from here unless your* youngest brother comes here. ¹⁶ Send one of you* and let him fetch your* brother. And you* will be bound, that your* words may be proved, whether there is truth in you*, or else by the life of Pharaoh surely you* are spies. ¹⁷ And he put them all together into confinement three days.
¹⁸ And Joseph said to them the third day, Do this and live, because I fear God. ¹⁹ If you* are true men, let one of your* brothers be bound in your* prison house, but go you*, carry grain for the famine of your* houses, ²⁰ and bring your* youngest brother to me. So will your* words be verified and you* will not die. And they did so.

³³ And the man, the lord of the land, said to us, By this I will know that you* are true men. Leave one of your* brothers with me and take grain for the famine of your* houses and go your* way, ³⁴ and bring your* youngest brother to me. Then I will know that you* are no spies, but that you* are true men. So I will deliver your* brother to you* and you* will trade in the land.

⁵ but if you will not send him, we will not go down. For the man said to us, You* will not see my face unless your* brother be with you*.

²³ And you said to your servants, Unless your* youngest brother come down with you*, you* will see my face no more.

¹³ And he said, Well! I will make a league with you, but one thing I require of you. That is, you will not see my face unless you first bring Michal, Saul's daughter, when you come to see my face.

²⁴ And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, but let him not see my face. So Absalom turned to his own house and did not see the king's face.

²⁸ And Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem and he did not see the king's face.

³² And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent to you, saying, Come here, that I may send you to the king to say, Why have I come from Geshur? It were better for me to still be there. Now therefore let me see the king's face and if there is iniquity in me, let him kill me.

³⁴ Having seen, I saw the mistreatment of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their groaning and I have come down to liberate them. And now come-here, I will be sending you into Egypt.

²⁵ And now, behold, I know that you all, among whom I went through preaching the kingdom of God, will be seeing my face no more,

³⁸ sorrowing especially upon the word which he had spoken, because they are about to view his face no more. Now they were sending him onward to the ship.

³⁸ And he said, My son will not go down with you*, because his brother is dead and he only is left. If harm befalls him by the way in which you* go, then you* will bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.

²⁶ And we said, We cannot go down. If our youngest brother is with us, then will we go down, because we may not see the man's face unless our youngest brother be with us.

¹² Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Jehovah your God gives you.

¹³ And they said, We your servants are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan. And behold, the youngest is this day with our father and one is not.

³ And Judah spoke to him, saying, The man solemnly protested to us, saying, You* will not see my face unless your* brother be with you*.

²⁷ And he asked them of their welfare and said, Is your* father well, the old man of whom you* spoke? Is he yet alive?

² And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is grain in Egypt. You* get down there and buy for us from there, that we may live and not die.

¹⁹ Now you are commanded, this do you*: Take wagons for you* out of the land of Egypt for your* little ones and for your* wives and bring your* father and come.

⁸ and all the house of Joseph and his brothers and his father's house. Only their little ones and their flocks and their herds, they left in the land of Goshen.

²¹ Now therefore do not fear. I will nourish you* and your* little ones. And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

³¹ But your* little ones, that you* said would be a prey, them I will bring in and they will know the land which you* have rejected.

⁶ Let Reuben live and not die, nor let his men be few.

⁴ If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city and we will die there. And if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come and let us fall to the army of the Syrians. If they save us alive, we will live and if they kill us, we will but die.

¹³ And one of his servants answered and said, I beseech you, let some men take five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city (behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it; behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are consumed) and let us send and see.

²¹ Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a straight way for us and for our little ones and for all our substance.

¹⁷ I will not die, but live and declare the works of Jehovah.

⁵ And surely I will require your* blood, the blood of your* lives. I will require it at the hand of every beast. And I will require the life of man at the hand of man, even at the hand of every man's brother.

³⁹ I did not bring to you what was torn by beasts; I bore the loss of it, you required it of my hand, whether stolen by day or stolen by night.

³⁷ And Reuben spoke to his father, saying, Kill my two sons if I do not bring him to you. Deliver him into my hand and I will bring him to you again.

³² For your servant became a surety for the young man to my father, saying, If I do not bring him to you, then I will bear the blame to my father forever.
³³ Now therefore, I beseech you, let your servant abide a bondman to my lord instead of the young man and let the young man go up with his brothers.

²¹ Otherwise it will happen, when my lord the king will sleep with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be considered offenders.

³ Give now a pledge, be a surety for me with yourself. Who is there that will thrust hands with me?

¹²² Be a surety for your servant for good. Do not let the proud oppress me.

¹⁸ When I say to a wicked man, You will surely die and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked man from his wicked way, to save his life, the same wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand.

²⁰ Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits unrighteousness and I lay a stumbling block before him, he will die. Because you have not given him warning, he will die in his sin and his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered, but I will require his blood at your hand.

⁶ But if the watchman sees the sword come and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at the watchman's hand.

⁸ When I say to the wicked man, O wicked man, you will surely die and you do not speak to warn the wicked man from his way, that wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand.

⁵⁰ in order that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the conception of the world, may be sought from this generation;

¹⁸ But if he has wronged you in anything or owes you anything, charge this to my account. ¹⁹ I, Paul, write it with my own hand. I will be compensating you; in order that I may not say to you, You are even owing yourself to me.

²² Jesus has also become the guarantee according to a so-much better covenant.

¹⁶ But he lingered. And the men laid hold upon his hand and upon the hand of his wife and upon the hand of his two daughters, because Jehovah was being merciful to him and they brought him forth and set him outside the city.

¹³ And he lodged there that night and took of what he had with him a present for Esau his brother: ¹⁴ two hundred female-goats and twenty male-goats, two hundred ewe-lambs and twenty rams, ¹⁵ thirty milk camels and their colts, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty female-donkeys and ten foals.
¹⁶ And he delivered them into the hand of his servants, every herd by itself and said to his servants, Pass over before me and put a space between herd and herd. ¹⁷ And he commanded the foremost, saying, When Esau my brother meets you and asks you, saying, Whose are you? And where do you go? And whose are these before you? ¹⁸ Then you will say, Your servant Jacob's. It is a present sent to my lord Esau. And behold, he also is behind us.
¹⁹ And he commanded also the second and the third and all who followed the herds, saying, On this manner will you* speak to Esau when you* find him, ²⁰ and you* will say, Moreover, behold, your servant Jacob is behind us. For he said, I will appease him with the present that goes before me and afterward I will see his face. Perhaps he will accept me. ²¹ So the present passed over before him and he himself lodged that night in the company.

¹⁰ And Jacob said, No, I beseech you, if now I have found favor in your sight, then receive my present at my hand, inasmuch as I have seen your face, as any man would see the face of God and you were pleased with me.

²⁵ And they sat down to eat bread. And they lifted up their eyes and looked, and behold, a caravan of Ishmaelites was coming from Gilead, with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.

¹⁴ And God Almighty give you* mercy before the man, that he may release to you* your* other brother and Benjamin. And if I be bereaved of my sons, I am bereaved.

²⁴ But I have said to you*, You* will inherit their land and I will give it to you* to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am Jehovah your* God, who has separated you* from the peoples.

¹⁴ and for the precious things of the fruits of the sun and for the precious things of the growth of the moons,

⁷ Then Saul said to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what will we bring the man? For the bread is spent in our vessels and there is not a present to bring to the man of God. What have we?

²⁷ And now this present which your servant has brought to my lord, let it be given to the young men who follow my lord.

²¹ And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt. They brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.

¹⁵ besides what the traders brought and the traffic of the merchants and of all the kings of Arabia and of the governors of the country.

²⁵ And every man brought his tribute, vessels of silver and vessels of gold and garments and armor and spices, horses and mules, a rate year by year.

¹⁹ There is a league between me and you, between my father and your father. Behold, I have sent to you a present of silver and gold. Go, break your league with Baasha King of Israel, that he may depart from me.

⁸ And the king said to Hazael, Take a present in your hand and go, meet the man of God and inquire of Jehovah by him, saying, Shall I recover of this sickness?

⁸ And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of Jehovah and in the treasures of the king's house and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria.

¹² At that time Berodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

¹⁶ Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan and fast you* for me and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day. I also and my maidens will fast in like manner. And so I will go in to the king, which is not according to the law. And if I perish, I perish.

²⁹ Because of your temple at Jerusalem kings will bring presents to you.

¹⁰ The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will render tribute. The kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts.

¹¹ Vow and pay to Jehovah your* God. Let all who are all around him bring presents to him who ought to be feared.

¹⁸ A man void of understanding strikes hands and becomes a surety in the presence of his neighbor.

¹⁶ A man's gift makes room for him and brings him before great men.

⁶ Many will entreat the favor of a generous man and every man is a friend to him who gives gifts.

¹⁴ A gift in secret pacifies anger and a present in the bosom, strong wrath.

¹⁰ How fair is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine and the fragrance of your oils than all manner of spices!

¹⁴ spikenard and saffron, cane and cinnamon, with all trees of frankincense, myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices.

¹⁴ Make haste, my beloved and be like to a roe or to a young male-deer upon the mountains of spices.

²² Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

¹⁵ The men of Dedan were your merchants. Many isles were the mart of your hand. They brought you in exchange horns of ivory and ebony.

¹⁷ Judah and the land of Israel, they were your merchants. They traded for your merchandise wheat of Minnith and pannag and honey and oil and balm.

¹⁴ But when he was not persuaded, we were quiet, saying, Let the will of the Lord happen.

²⁵ Then Joseph commanded to fill their vessels with grain and to restore every man's money into his sack and to give them provisions for the way. And thus it was done to them.

³⁵ And it happened as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack. And when they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid.

¹⁷ Repay to no one evil in exchange-for evil. Plan-for good things in the sight of all men.

⁸ Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another; for he who loves the other has fulfilled the law.

²¹ planning-for good things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

⁸ Furthermore brethren, as many things as are true, as many as are honorable, as many as are righteous, as many as are pure, as many as are lovely, as many as have good-repute; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, reason on these things.

⁶ and not to go beyond limits and takes-advantage of his brother in the matter, because the Lord is an avenger concerning all these things, just-as we have also spoken to you beforehand and thoroughly testified.

²¹ Test all things. Hold-onto the good things.

⁸ Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and forever.

¹ And when Abram was ninety-nine years old, Jehovah appeared to Abram and said to him, I am God Almighty, walk before me and you will be perfect.

¹⁴ And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh. As it is said to this day, It will be provided in the mountain of Jehovah.

³ And God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may be a company of peoples,

¹¹ I beseech you, deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau. For I fear him, lest he comes and slays me, the mother with the sons. ¹² And you said, I will surely do you good and make your seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.
¹³ And he lodged there that night and took of what he had with him a present for Esau his brother: ¹⁴ two hundred female-goats and twenty male-goats, two hundred ewe-lambs and twenty rams, ¹⁵ thirty milk camels and their colts, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty female-donkeys and ten foals.

²² And he rose up that night and took his two wives and his two handmaids and his eleven sons and passed over the ford of the Jabbok. ²³ And he took them and sent them over the brook and sent over what he had.
²⁴ And Jacob was left alone and a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. ²⁵ And when he saw that he did not prevail against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was strained as he wrestled with him.
²⁶ And he said, Let me go, because the day breaks. And he said, I will not let you go unless you bless me. ²⁷ And he said to him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob. ²⁸ And he said, Your name will be called Jacob no more, but Israel, because you have striven with God and with men and have prevailed.

¹¹ And God said to him, I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will be of you and kings will come out of your loins.

²¹ But Jehovah was with Joseph and showed kindness to him and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

²⁴ And he turned himself around from them and wept. And he returned to them and spoke to them and took Simeon from among them and bound him before their eyes.

³⁶ And Jacob their father said to them, You* have bereaved me of my sons. Joseph is not and Simeon is not and you* will take Benjamin away. All these things are against me.

²⁷ Praise Jehovah, the God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of Jehovah which is in Jerusalem,

¹¹ O Lord, I beseech you, let now your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant and to the prayer of your servants, who delight to fear your name, and I beseech you, prosper your servant this day and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.
Now I was cupbearer to the king.

⁵ Commit your way to Jehovah. Trust also in him and he will do it. ⁶ And he will make your righteousness to go forth as the light and your justice as the noon-day.
⁷ Rest in Jehovah and wait patiently for him. Do not inflame yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked devices.

⁷ Show us your loving kindness, O Jehovah and grant us your salvation.

⁵ Because Jehovah is good. His loving kindness is everlasting and his faithfulness to all generations.

⁴¹ Let your loving kindnesses also come to me, O Jehovah, even your salvation, according to your word.

¹ The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, King of Israel,

⁷ When a man's ways please Jehovah, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

¹ The king's heart is in the hand of Jehovah as streams of water. He turns it wherever he will.

¹³ Sing, O heavens and be joyful, O earth and break forth into singing, O mountains. For Jehovah has comforted his people and will have compassion upon his afflicted.

⁵⁰ and his mercy is toward generations of generations to those who fear him.

¹⁰ and liberated him from all his afflictions and gave him favor and wisdom in front of Pharaoh king of Egypt, who designated him leader over Egypt and his whole house.

² to Timothy, my genuine child in the faith: grace, mercy, peace, from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁶ But I was shown-mercy because of this, in order that Jesus Christ might show all his patience in me as foremost, for a pattern of those who are afterward about to believe on him for everlasting life.

⁴ To Titus, my genuine child according to our common faith: grace, mercy, peace from God the Father and Lord Jesus Christ, our Savior.

³ Grace, mercy, peace will be with us, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

² And Abram said, O Lord Jehovah, what will you give me, since I go childless. And he who will be possessor of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?

⁸ And the child grew and was weaned. And Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned.

² And Abraham said to his servant, the elder of his house, who ruled over all that he had, I beseech you, put your hand under my thigh. ³ And I will make you swear by Jehovah, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell. ⁴ But you will go to my country and to my kindred and take a wife for my son Isaac.
⁵ And the servant said to him, Perhaps the woman will not be willing to follow me to this land. Must I bring your son again to the land from where you came? ⁶ And Abraham said to him, You beware that you not bring my son there again. ⁷ Jehovah, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my nativity and who spoke to me and who swore to me, saying, To your seed I will give this land. He will send his messenger before you and you will take a wife for my son from there.
⁸ And if the woman is not willing to follow you, then you will be clear from this my oath. Only you will not bring my son there again. ⁹ And the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master and swore to him concerning this matter.
¹⁰ And the servant took ten camels, of the camels of his master and departed, having all good things of his master's in his hand. And he arose and went to Mesopotamia, to the city of Nahor.

³⁰ And he made a feast for them and they ate and drank.

⁵⁴ And Jacob offered a sacrifice on the mountain and called his brothers to eat bread. And they ate bread and stayed all night on the mountain.

⁴ And Joseph found favor in his sight and he ministered to him. And he made him overseer over his house and all that he had, he put into his hand.
⁵ And it happened from the time that he made him overseer in his house and over all that he had, that Jehovah blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake. And the blessing of Jehovah was upon all that he had, in the house and in the field.

¹⁹ And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house and they spoke to him at the door of the house,

¹ And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, Fill the men's sacks with food, as much as they can carry and put every man's money in his sack's mouth.

⁴ And when they were gone out of the city and were not yet far off, Joseph said to his steward, Up, follow after the men and when you overtake them, say to them, Why have you* rewarded evil for good?

¹¹ Shall I then take my bread and my water and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers and give it to men of whom I do not know from where they are?

² She has killed her beasts. She has mingled her wine. She has also furnished her table.

²¹ And they said one to another, We are truly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul when he besought us and we would not hear. Therefore this distress has come upon us.

²⁸ And he said to his brothers, My money is restored, and behold, it is even in my sack. And their heart failed them and they turned trembling one to another, saying, What is this that God has done to us?

¹⁴ and charges her with shameful things and brings up an evil name upon her and says, I took this woman and when I came near to her, I did not find in her the tokens of virginity,

¹⁷ And behold, he has charged her with shameful things, saying, I did not find in your daughter the tokens of virginity and yet these are the tokens of my daughter's virginity. And they will spread the garment before the elders of the city.

²² And Manoah said to his wife, We will surely die, because we have seen God.

⁴ But his father and his mother did not know that it was of Jehovah, for he sought an occasion against the Philistines. Now at that time the Philistines had rule over Israel.

²¹ Sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come upon him.

¹⁴ As through a wide breach they come. In the midst of the ruin they roll themselves upon me.

⁵ They were in great fear there, where no fear was, for God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you. You have put them to shame because God has rejected them.

¹⁶ When I thought how I might understand this, it was too painful for me,

² And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is allied with Ephraim. And his heart trembled and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.

²⁶ And when the disciples saw him walking upon the sea, they were disturbed, saying, It is an apparition, and they cried out from their fear.
²⁷ But Jesus immediately spoke to them, saying, Have courage; it is I; do not be afraid.

¹⁶ But when he heard of it, Herod said, John, whom I beheaded, it is he, he was raised from the dead.

⁸ But sin, having taken a starting-point, worked in me through the commandment all manner of coveting; for separate from the law sin is dead.

³ And Joseph's ten brothers went down to buy grain from Egypt.

¹⁰ And they said to him, No, my lord, but your servants have come to buy food.

²⁷ And as one of them opened his sack to give his donkey fodder in the lodging place, he saw his money, and behold, it was in the mouth of his sack.

⁷ And they said, The man asked diligently concerning ourselves and concerning our kindred, saying, Is your* father yet alive? Have you* another brother? And we told him according to the tenor of these words. Could we in any way know that he would say, Bring your* brother down?

²⁷ And as one of them opened his sack to give his donkey fodder in the lodging place, he saw his money, and behold, it was in the mouth of his sack. ²⁸ And he said to his brothers, My money is restored, and behold, it is even in my sack. And their heart failed them and they turned trembling one to another, saying, What is this that God has done to us?
²⁹ And they came to Jacob their father to the land of Canaan and told him all that had befallen them, saying, ³⁰ The man, the lord of the land, spoke roughly with us and took us for spies of the country. ³¹ And we said to him, We are true men and we are no spies. ³² We are twelve brothers, sons of our father. One is not and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of Canaan.
³³ And the man, the lord of the land, said to us, By this I will know that you* are true men. Leave one of your* brothers with me and take grain for the famine of your* houses and go your* way, ³⁴ and bring your* youngest brother to me. Then I will know that you* are no spies, but that you* are true men. So I will deliver your* brother to you* and you* will trade in the land.
³⁵ And it happened as they emptied their sacks, that, behold, every man's bundle of money was in his sack. And when they and their father saw their bundles of money, they were afraid.

¹² And take double money in your* hand and the money that was returned in the mouth of your* sacks carry again in your* hand. Perhaps it was an oversight.

¹⁵ And the men took that present and they took double money in their hand and Benjamin and rose up and went down to Egypt and stood before Joseph.

⁵ In the manner of life, not being a money-lover, be content with the things which are present; for he himself has said, I may never be lax concerning you, nor should I ever forsake you.

¹⁸ Pray concerning us; for we have confidence that we have a good conscience, wishing to conduct ourselves in a good manner in all things.

¹² having your good conduct seen among the Gentiles; in order that, in what they are speaking against you, as evildoers, they may glorify God in the day of visitation, having eye-witnessed things from your good works.

¹⁶ having a good conscience; in order that, in what they are speaking against you as evildoers, they may be ashamed who are railing at your good conduct in Christ.

²³ And Jehovah said to him, Peace be to you. Do not fear; you will not die.

²⁰ And the old man said, Peace be to you. However let all your wants lie upon me, only do not lodge in the street.

⁶ And thus you* will say to him who lives in prosperity, Peace be to you and peace be to your house and peace be to all that you have.

¹⁸ Then the Spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the thirty, and he said, We are yours, David and on your side, you son of Jesse. Peace, peace be to you and peace be to your helpers, for your God helps you. Then David received them and made them captains of the band.

¹⁷ Then the king sent an answer to Rehum the chancellor and to Shimshai the scribe and to the rest of their companions who dwell in Samaria and in the rest beyond the River:
Peace and so forth.

⁵ Now into whatever house you enter, say first, Peace is to this house.

³⁶ Now while they are speaking these things, Jesus stood in the midst of them and says to them, Peace is to you.

²⁷ I am leaving peace with you. I am giving my peace to you; not like the world gives, I am giving to you. Let your heart not be disturbed, nor let it be cowardly.

¹⁹ Therefore being evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors had been locked where the disciples were gathered because of fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the middle, and says to them, Peace to you.

²¹ Therefore Jesus said to them again, Peace to you; just-as the Father has sent me; I am also sending you.

²⁶ And after eight days his disciples were inside again and Thomas with them. Jesus comes, the doors having been locked and stood in the middle and said, Peace to you.

⁴ Now let a little water be fetched and wash your* feet and rest yourselves under the tree.

² and he said, Behold now, my lords, I beseech you*, turn aside into your* servant's house and abide all night and wash your* feet and you* will rise up early and go on your* way. And they said, No, but we will abide in the street all night.

³² And the man came into the house and he ungirded the camels. And he gave straw and fodder for the camels and water to wash his feet and the feet of the men who were with him.

⁴⁴ And turning to the woman, he said to Simon, Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, you gave me no water for my feet, but she has rained on my feet with her tears and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

⁴ arose from supper and places aside his garments, and he took a towel and girded himself. ⁵ Thereafter he puts water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples’feet and to wipe them with the towel in which he was girded.
⁶ Therefore, he comes to Simon Peter and that man says to him, Lord, why are you washing my feet?
⁷ Jesus answered and said to him, What I do you do not know now, but you will know after these things.
⁸ Peter says to him, Never wash my feet.
Jesus answered him, If I do not wash you, you have no part with me.
⁹ Simon Peter says to him, Lord, not only my feet, but also the hands and the head.
¹⁰ Jesus says to him, He who has been fully-washed does not need to wash himself, other than the feet, but is entirely clean and you are clean, but not all. ¹¹ (For he knew the one who is giving him up.) Because of this, he said, You are not all clean.
¹² Therefore, when he had washed their feet and had taken up his garments, having leaned-back again, he said to them, You know what I have done for you? ¹³ You address me as the Teacher and, Lord, and you say well; for so I am. ¹⁴ Therefore, if I, the Lord and the Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. ¹⁵ For I gave you an example, in order that you should also do like I have done for you. ¹⁶ Assuredly, assuredly, I am saying to you, A bondservant is not greater than his lord; nor is an apostle greater than he who sent him. ¹⁷ If you know these things, you are fortunate if you practice them.

¹¹ And their father Israel said to them, If it is so now, do this: take of the choice fruits of the land in your* vessels and carry a present down to the man, a little balm and a little honey, spicery and myrrh, nuts and almonds.

¹⁶ And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, Bring the men into the house and kill and make ready, because the men will dine with me at noon.

²⁹ Let peoples serve you and nations bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers and let your mother's sons bow down to you. Cursed is he who curses you and blessed is he who graces you.

⁷ For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright. And behold, your* sheaves came all around and bowed-down to my sheaf.
⁸ And his brothers said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? Or will you indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams and for his words.
⁹ And he dreamed yet another dream and told it to his brothers. And said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream again. And behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing-down to me.
¹⁰ And he told it to his father and to his brothers. And his father rebuked him and said to him, What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow-down ourselves to you to the earth?

¹⁹ And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer comes. ²⁰ Come now therefore and let us kill him and cast him into one of the pits. And we will say, An evil beast has devoured him. And we will see what will become of his dreams.

⁶ And Joseph was the governor over the land. It was he who sold to all the people of the land. And Joseph's brothers came and bowed themselves to him with their faces to the earth.

²⁸ And they said, Your servant our father is well; he is yet alive. And they bowed the head and then bowed-down to him.

⁹ Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow before him and his enemies will lick the dust.

¹¹ For it has been written, ‘ As I live, says the Lord, that every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will confess to God.’

¹⁰ in order that every knee should bow in the name of Jesus, those from the heavenly and earthly and subterranean places, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹⁴ And he said to him, Go now, see whether it is well with your brothers and well with the flock and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the valley of Hebron and he came to Shechem.

¹⁶ And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me. God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

¹¹ We are all one man's sons. We are true men. Your servants are no spies.

⁷ And Moses went out to meet his father-in-law and bowed-down and kissed him. And they asked each other of their welfare and they came into the tent.

¹⁵ And they turned aside there and came to the house of the young man the Levite, even to the house of Micah and asked him of his welfare.

²² And David left his baggage in the hand of the keeper of the baggage and ran to the army and came and saluted his brothers.

⁵ And David sent ten young men and David said to the young men, You* get up to Carmel and go to Nabal and greet him in my name.

¹⁰ he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to salute him and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him (for Hadadezer had wars with Tou) and he had with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

⁷ For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright. And behold, your* sheaves came all around and bowed-down to my sheaf.

²⁶ And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house and bowed themselves to him to the earth.

² it happened on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes torn and earth upon his head. And so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the ground and bowed-down.

⁴ And when the woman of Tekoa spoke to the king, she fell on her face to the ground and bowed-down and said, Help, O king.

¹⁶ And Bathsheba bowed the head and bowed-down to the king. And the king said, What do you want?

¹⁷ Now after the death of Jehoiada the rulers of Judah came and bowed-down to the king. Then the king listened to them.

²² And God remembered Rachel. And God listened to her and opened her womb. ²³ And she conceived and bore a son and said, God has taken away my reproach. ²⁴ And she called his name Joseph, saying, Jehovah adds another son to me.

¹⁷ And it happened, when she was in hard labor, that the midwife said to her, Do not fear, now you will have another son. ¹⁸ And it happened, as her soul was departing (for she died), that she called his name Ben-oni.

⁸ So now it was not you* that sent me here, but God and he has made me a father to Pharaoh and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt.

²⁵ Jehovah make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.

¹⁹ And Joshua said to Achan, I beseech you, my son give glory to Jehovah, the God of Israel and make confession to him and tell me now what you have done. Hide it not from me.

¹¹ My sons, do not be negligent now. For Jehovah has chosen you* to stand before him, to minister to him and that you* should be his ministers and burn incense.

¹ God be merciful to us and bless us and cause his face to shine upon us (Selah),

⁴ He has made his wonderful works to be remembered. Jehovah is gracious and merciful.

⁴ To the upright there arises light in the darkness. He is gracious and merciful and righteous.

¹ Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!
² It is like the precious oil upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard, that came down upon the skirt of his garments,

¹⁹ For the people will dwell in Zion at Jerusalem. You will weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When he will hear, he will answer you.

² O Jehovah, be gracious to us, we have waited for you. Be our arm every morning, also our salvation in the time of trouble.

⁹ You* say, And now, I beseech you*, entreat the favor of God, that he may be gracious to us; this has been by your* means. Will he accept any of your* persons? says Jehovah of hosts.

² And behold, they were bringing a paralytic to him, having been put upon a cot, and Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, Child, have courage; your sins have been forgiven to you.

²² Now Jesus having turned, saw her, and said, Daughter, have courage; your faith has saved you. And the woman was cured from that hour.

²⁴ Now the disciples were being amazed upon his words. But Jesus again answered and says to them, Children, how hard it is for those who have confidence in wealth to enter into the kingdom of God!

¹ Let brotherly-love abide.

² And he wept aloud and the Egyptians heard and the house of Pharaoh heard.

¹⁴ And he fell upon his brother Benjamin's wept upon his neck. ¹⁵ And he kissed all his brothers and wept upon them. And after that his brothers talked with him.

²⁹ And Joseph made his chariot ready and went up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen. And he presented himself to him and fell on his neck and wept on his neck a good while.

²⁶ Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son and she said, Oh, my lord, give her the living child and by no means kill it. But the other said, It will be neither mine nor your. Divide it.

²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I do earnestly remember him still. Therefore my heart yearns for him. I will surely have mercy upon him, says Jehovah.

⁸ How shall I give you up, Ephraim? How shall I cast you off, Israel? How shall I make you as Admah? How shall I set you as Zeboiim? My heart is turned within me. My compassions are kindled together.

³³ Therefore, as Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping who came together with her, he sighed in the spirit and was disturbed, ³⁴ and said, Where have you laid him?
They say to him, Lord, come and behold.
³⁵ Jesus shed-tears.
³⁶ Therefore the Jews were saying, Behold how he loved him!
³⁷ But some out of them said, Was this one, who opened the eyes of the blind man, not able to do something in order that this one might not have even died?
³⁸ Therefore Jesus again, sighing in himself, comes to the tomb. Now it was a cave and a stone was laying upon it.

¹⁹ serving the Lord with all humility and from many tears, and from tests which befell me among the pacts of the Jews;

³¹ Hence watch, remembering that for three years I ceased not from admonishing each one of you^\'b0 every day with tears.

³⁷ But there became considerable weeping from all, and having fallen upon Paul’s neck, they were kissing him,

⁸ For God is my witness, how I am longing-for all of you in the affections of Christ Jesus.

¹ Therefore, if there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affections and mercies,

¹² Therefore as chosen ones of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with a heart of mercy, kindness, humility, meekness, patience,

⁴ I am longing to see you, having been reminded of your tears, in order that I may be filled from joy;

¹⁷ But whoever has the world’s good life and should view his brother having need and then should lock his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

¹ Then Joseph could not restrain himself before all those who stood before him and he cried out, Cause every man to go out from me. And no man stood with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers.

¹⁴ I have for a long time held my peace. I have been still and refrained myself. Now I will cry out like a travailing woman. I will gasp and pant together.

¹⁶ Jehovah says thus: Refrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded, says Jehovah and they will come again from the land of the enemy.

¹⁰ For he who wills to love life and to see good days, let his tongue cease from speaking evil, and also his lips not to speak treachery.

³⁴ that you* will say, Your servants have been keepers of cattle from our youth even until now, both we and our fathers, that you* may dwell in the land of Goshen, because every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians.

²⁶ And Moses said, It is not right to do so, because we will sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to Jehovah our God. Behold, will we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes and will they not stone us?

²² He gave to all of them, each man, changes of garments, but to Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver and five changes of garments.

⁵ but to Hannah he gave a double portion, for he loved Hannah, but Jehovah had shut up her womb.

²² And Samuel took Saul and his servant and brought them into the guest-chamber and made them sit in the chief place among those who were bidden, who were about thirty men.
²³ And Samuel said to the cook, Bring the portion which I gave you, of which I said to you, Set it by you. ²⁴ And the cook took up the thigh and what was upon it and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, Behold, what has been reserved! Set it before you and eat, because it has been kept for you to the appointed time, for I said, I have invited the people. So Saul ate with Samuel that day.

⁸ And David said to Uriah, Go down to your house and wash your feet. And Uriah departed out of the king's house and a gift from the king followed him.

⁶ Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish and wine to the bitter in soul.

⁷ Go your way, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, because God has already accepted your works.

¹⁹ A feast is made for laughter and wine gladdens the life and money answers all things.

¹ I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride. I have gathered my myrrh with my spice. I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey. I have drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends. Drink, yes. Drink abundantly, O beloved.

⁶ For behold, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, who march through the breadth of the earth to possess dwelling-places that are not theirs.

¹⁹ The Son of Man came eating and drinking and they say, Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners! And wisdom was made righteous from her children.

¹⁰ and says to him, Every man first places the good wine on the table, and whenever they are drunken, then the inferior. But you have kept the good wine until now.
