39 I did not bring to you what was torn by beasts; I bore the loss of it, you required it of my hand, whether stolen by day or stolen by night.

Exodus 22:10-13

10 If a man delivers to his neighbor a donkey, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep and it dies, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it, 11 the oath of Jehovah will be between them both, whether he has not put his hand to his neighbor's goods. And the owner of it will accept it and he will not make restitution.
12 But if it is stolen from him, he will make restitution to the owner of it. 13 If it is torn in pieces, let him bring it for evidence. He will not make good what was torn.
