²¹ For he tore Israel from the house of David. And they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king.
And Jeroboam drove Israel from following Jehovah and made them sin a great sin.

⁹ Then Abimelech called Abraham and said to him, What have you done to us? And in what way have I sinned against you, that you have brought such a great sin on me and on my kingdom? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done.

²¹ And Moses said to Aaron, What did this people do to you, that you have brought a great sin upon them?

¹⁷ And the sin of the young men was very great before Jehovah, for the men despised the offering of Jehovah.

²⁴ No, my sons, for it is no good report that I hear. You* make Jehovah's people to transgress.

¹¹ Therefore Jehovah said to Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done by you and you have not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you and will give it to your servant.

³¹ And he said to Jeroboam, You take ten pieces, for Jehovah says thus, the God of Israel, Behold, I will tear the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon and will give ten tribes to you

¹⁹ So Israel rebelled against the house of David to this day.
²⁰ And it happened, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was returned, that they sent and called him to the congregation and made him king over all Israel. There was none that followed the house of David, but only the tribe of Judah.

²⁸ Upon it the king took counsel and made two calves of gold. And he said to them, It is too much for you* to go up to Jerusalem. Behold your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt. ²⁹ And he set the one in Bethel and the other he put in Dan. ³⁰ And this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one, even to Dan.

⁸ and tore the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it you and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments and who followed me with all his heart to do only what was right in my eyes,

¹⁶ And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned and with which he has made Israel to sin.

¹⁵ So the king did not listen to the people. For it was brought about by God, that Jehovah might establish his word, which he spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
¹⁶ And when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? Neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to your* tents, O Israel. Now see to your own house, David. So all Israel departed to their tents.
¹⁷ But as for the sons of Israel who dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them. ¹⁸ Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the men subject to forced-labor. And the sons of Israel stoned him to death with stones. And king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem. ¹⁹ So Israel rebelled against the house of David to this day.

¹¹ And he fortified the strongholds and put captains in them and stores of victuals and oil and wine.

¹⁵ And he appointed priests for him for the high places and for the male-goats and for the calves which he had made.

¹¹ For your name's sake, O Jehovah, pardon my iniquity, because it is great.

¹⁷ Jehovah will bring upon you and upon your people and upon your father's house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah–even} the king of Assyria.

¹¹ Jesus answered, You have no authority against me, except what was given to you from above. He who gave me to you has the greater sin because of this.
