¹ Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices. And the glory of Jehovah filled the house. ² And the priests could not enter into the house of Jehovah, because the glory of Jehovah filled Jehovah's house.
³ And all the sons of Israel looked on when the fire came down and the glory of Jehovah was upon the house. And they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement and worshiped and gave thanks to Jehovah, saying, For he is good. For his loving kindness is everlasting.
⁴ Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before Jehovah. ⁵ And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
⁶ And the priests stood according to their offices, also the Levites with instruments of music of Jehovah, which David the king had made to give thanks to Jehovah (for his loving kindness is everlasting) when David praised by their ministry and the priests blew trumpets before them. And all Israel stood.
⁷ Moreover Solomon made the middle of the court holy that was before the house of Jehovah. For there he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brazen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offering and the meal offering and the fat.
⁸ So Solomon held the feast at that time seven days and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt. ⁹ And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly. For they kept the dedication of the altar seven days and the feast seven days. ¹⁰ And on the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that Jehovah had shown to David and to Solomon and to Israel his people.
¹¹ Thus Solomon finished the house of Jehovah and the king's house. And all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of Jehovah and in his own house, he caused to prosper.
¹² And Jehovah appeared to Solomon by night and said to him, I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice. ¹³ If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people, ¹⁴ if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
¹⁵ Now my eyes will be open and my ears attend to the prayer that is made in this place. ¹⁶ For now I have chosen and made this house holy, that my name may be there until everlasting and my eyes and my heart will be there perpetually.
¹⁷ And as for you, if you will walk before me as David your father walked and do according to all that I have commanded you and will keep my statutes and mine ordinances, ¹⁸ then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, just-as I covenanted with David your father, saying, There will not fail you a man to be ruler in Israel.
¹⁹ But if you* turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you* and will go and serve other gods and worship them, ²⁰ then I will pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them. And this house, which I have made holy for my name, I will cast out of my sight and I will make it a proverb and a parable among all peoples.
²¹ And this house, which is so high, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and will say, Why has Jehovah done thus to this land and to this house? ²² And they will answer, Because they forsook Jehovah, the God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them; therefore he has brought all this evil upon them.

¹⁷ And it happened, that, when the sun went down and it was dark, behold, there appeared a smoking furnace and a flaming torch that passed between these pieces.

⁴³ And there I will meet with the sons of Israel and the tent will be made holy by my glory.

³⁴ Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle. ³⁵ And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of meeting, because the cloud abode thereupon and the glory of Jehovah filled the tabernacle.

²³ And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting and came out and blessed the people. And the glory of Jehovah appeared to all the people. ²⁴ And there came out fire from before Jehovah and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.

²¹ Then the messenger of Jehovah put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes. And there went up fire out of the rock and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. And the messenger of Jehovah departed out of his sight.

¹⁰ And it happened, when the priests came out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of Jehovah, ¹¹ so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud, for the glory of Jehovah filled the house of Jehovah.

⁵⁴ And it was so, that, when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication to Jehovah, he arose from before the altar of Jehovah, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread forth toward heaven.
⁵⁵ And he stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying, ⁵⁶ Praise Jehovah, who has given rest to his people Israel according to all that he promised. There has not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by Moses his servant. ⁵⁷ Jehovah our God be with us as he was with our fathers. Let him not leave us, nor forsake us, ⁵⁸ that he may incline our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, which he commanded our fathers.
⁵⁹ And let these my words, with which I have made supplication before Jehovah, be near to Jehovah our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel, as every day will require, ⁶⁰ that all the peoples of the earth may know that Jehovah, he is God; there is none else. ⁶¹ Let your* heart therefore be perfect with Jehovah our God, to walk in his statutes and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

²⁴ And call you* on the name of your* god and I will call on the name of Jehovah. And the God that answers by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

³⁸ Then the fire of Jehovah fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust and licked up the water that was in the trench.

²⁶ And David built there an altar to Jehovah and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings and called upon Jehovah. And he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

¹³ it happened, when the trumpeters and singers were as one voice, to sound-aloud in praising and thanking Jehovah. And when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music and praised Jehovah, saying, For he is good. For his loving kindness is everlasting, that the house was then filled with a cloud, even the house of Jehovah, ¹⁴ so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud. For the glory of Jehovah filled the house of God.

¹ In the year that king Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up and his train filled the temple. ² Above him stood the seraphim. Each one had six wings, with two he covered his face and with two he covered his feet and with two he flew.
³ And one cried to another and said, Holy, holy, holy, is Jehovah of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory. ⁴ And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who cried and the house was filled with vapor.

²⁴ And it will happen that, before they call, I will answer and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

³ Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the house when the man went in and the cloud filled the inner court. ⁴ And the glory of Jehovah mounted up from the cherub, over the threshold of the house. And the house was filled with the cloud and the court was full of the brightness of Jehovah's glory.

⁵ And the Spirit took me up and brought me into the inner court, and behold, the glory of Jehovah filled the house.

⁴ Then he brought me by the way of the north gate before the house. And I looked, and behold, the glory of Jehovah filled the house of Jehovah. And I fell upon my face.

²⁰ And while I was speaking and praying and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and presenting my supplication before Jehovah my God for the holy mountain of my God,

⁷ And I will shake all nations and the delight of all nations will come and I will fill this house with glory, says Jehovah of hosts. ⁸ The silver is mine and the gold is mine, says Jehovah of hosts. ⁹ The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former, says Jehovah of hosts and in this place I will give peace, says Jehovah of hosts.

¹ Behold, I send my messenger and he will prepare the way before me. And the Lord, whom you* seek, will suddenly come to his temple. And the messenger of the covenant, whom you* desire, behold, he comes, says Jehovah of hosts. ² But who can abide the day of his coming? And who will stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner's fire and like launder's soap.

³¹ And having besought the Lord, the place was shaken in which they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they were speaking the word of God with boldness.

²⁵ But toward midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God and the prisoners were their audience; ²⁶ and suddenly there became a great earthquake, so-that the foundations of the prison were shaken, and instantly all the doors were opened and everyone’s bonds were lax.

²³ And the city has no need of the sun, neither of the moon, in order that they should appear in it; for the glory of God illuminated it and its lamp is the Lamb.

¹⁷ And the appearance of the glory of Jehovah was like devouring fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the sons of Israel.

¹⁴ so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud. For the glory of Jehovah filled the house of God.

⁵ Then I said, Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of hosts.

⁸ And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power and no one was able to enter into the temple, till the seven wounds of the seven messengers should be completed.

³¹ And the people believed. And when they heard that Jehovah had visited the sons of Israel and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.

²⁴ And there came out fire from before Jehovah and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.

⁵ Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the sons of Israel.

²² And they fell upon their faces and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, will one man sin and will you be angry with all the congregation?

³⁹ And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces. And they said, Jehovah, he is God, Jehovah, he is God.

⁴¹ And with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest that were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to Jehovah because his loving kindness is everlasting.

²⁰ And David said to all the assembly, Now praise Jehovah your* God. And all the assembly praised Jehovah, the God of their fathers and bowed down their heads and bowed-down to Jehovah and the king.

¹³ it happened, when the trumpeters and singers were as one voice, to sound-aloud in praising and thanking Jehovah. And when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music and praised Jehovah, saying, For he is good. For his loving kindness is everlasting, that the house was then filled with a cloud, even the house of Jehovah,

²¹ And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to Jehovah and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army and say, Give thanks to Jehovah. For his loving kindness is everlasting.

¹¹ And they sang one to another in praising and giving thanks to Jehovah, saying, For he is good, for his loving kindness is everlasting toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised Jehovah, because the foundation of the house of Jehovah was laid.

⁶ O come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before Jehovah our maker.

¹⁷ But the loving kindness of Jehovah is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who fear him and his righteousness to son's sons,

¹ O give thanks to Jehovah, because he is good, because his loving kindness is everlasting.
² O give thanks to the God of gods, for his loving kindness is everlasting.
³ O give thanks to the Lord of lords, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
⁴ to him who alone does great wonders, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
⁵ to him who by understanding made the heavens, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
⁶ to him who spread forth the earth above the waters, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
⁷ to him who made great lights, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
⁸ the sun to rule by day, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
⁹ the moon and stars to rule by night, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹⁰ to him who killed* Egypt in their firstborn, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹¹ and brought out Israel from among them, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹² with a strong hand and with an outstretched arm, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹³ to him who divided the Red Sea apart, because loving kindness is everlasting,
¹⁴ and made Israel to pass through the midst of it, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹⁵ but overthrew Pharaoh and his army in the Red Sea, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹⁶ to him who led his people through the wilderness, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹⁷ to him who killed* great kings, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹⁸ and killed famous kings, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
¹⁹ Sihon king of the Amorites, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
²⁰ and Og king of Bashan, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
²¹ and gave their land for a heritage, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
²² even a heritage to Israel his servant, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
²³ who remembered us in our low estate, for his loving kindness is everlasting,
²⁴ and has delivered us from our adversaries, because his loving kindness is everlasting,
²⁵ who gives food to all flesh, because his loving kindness is everlasting.
²⁶ O give thanks to the God of heaven, because his loving kindness is everlasting.

⁷ I will make mention of the loving kindnesses of Jehovah, and the praises of Jehovah, according to all that Jehovah has bestowed on us and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

¹¹ the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who say, Give thanks to Jehovah of hosts, for Jehovah is good, for his loving kindness is everlasting and of those who bring thanksgiving into the house of Jehovah. For I will cause the captivity of the land to return as at the first, says Jehovah.

⁵⁰ and his mercy is toward generations of generations to those who fear him.

²⁴ but he has his perpetual priesthood because he is to remain forever. ²⁵ Hence he is also able to completely save those who come to God through him, always living, that he may petition on their behalf.

⁶² And the king and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before Jehovah. ⁶³ And Solomon offered for the sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered to Jehovah, twenty-two thousand oxen and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the sons of Israel dedicated the house of Jehovah.

¹⁰ And the rulers offered for the dedication of the altar in the day that it was anointed, even the rulers offered their oblation before the altar.

²¹ And they sacrificed sacrifices to Jehovah and offered burnt offerings to Jehovah on the morrow after that day, even a thousand bullocks, a thousand rams and a thousand lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel,

⁶ And Solomon went up there to the brazen altar before Jehovah, which was at the tent of meeting and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

⁴ Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of Jehovah my God, to dedicate it to him and to burn before him incense of sweet spices and for the continual showbread and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths and on the new moons and on the set feasts of Jehovah our God. This is an ordinance everlasting to Israel.

⁶ And king Solomon and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled to him, were before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted nor numbered for multitude.

¹¹ And they sacrificed to Jehovah in that day of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

³² And the number of the burnt offerings which the assembly brought was seventy bullocks, a hundred rams and two hundred lambs. All these were for a burnt offering to Jehovah. ³³ And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.

²⁴ For Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the assembly for offerings a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep. And the rulers gave to the assembly a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep. And a great number of priests made themselves holy.

⁷ And Josiah gave to the sons of the people, of the flock, lambs and kids, all of them for the Passover offerings, to all who were present, to the number of thirty thousand and also three thousand bullocks; these were of the king's substance.
⁸ And his rulers gave for a free-will offering to the people, to the priests and to the Levites. Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, the rulers of the house of God, gave to the priests for the Passover offerings two thousand and six hundred small cattle and three hundred oxen. ⁹ Conaniah also and Shemaiah and Nethanel, his brothers and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, the chiefs of the Levites, gave to the Levites for the Passover offerings five thousand small cattle and five hundred oxen.

¹⁶ And the sons of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the sons of the captivity,
kept the dedication of this house of God with joy.
¹⁷ And they offered at the dedication of this house of God a hundred bullocks, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs. And for a sin offering for all Israel, twelve male-goats, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.

¹⁷ And it will be the ruler's part to give the burnt offerings and the meal offerings and the drink offerings, in the feasts and on the new moons and on the Sabbaths, in all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel. He will prepare the sin offering and the meal offering and the burnt offering and the peace offerings, to make atonement for the house of Israel.

⁷ Will Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

²² Now it happened to be Hanukkah in Jerusalem and it was winter,

¹ And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying, ² You make two trumpets of silver, you will make them of beaten work. And you will use them for the calling of the congregation and for the journeying of the camps. ³ And when they will blow them, all the congregation will gather themselves to you at the door of the tent of meeting. ⁴ And if they blow but one, then the rulers, the heads of the thousands of Israel, will gather themselves to you. ⁵ And when you* blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side will take their journey. ⁶ And when you* blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie on the south side will take their journey. They will blow an alarm for their journeys. ⁷ But when the assembly is to be gathered together, you* will blow, but you* will not shout out an alarm.
⁸ And the sons of Aaron, the priests, will blow the trumpets and they will be to you* for an everlasting statute throughout your* genealogy. ⁹ And when you* go to war in your* land against the adversary that oppresses you*, then you* will shout out an alarm with the trumpets. And you* will be remembered before Jehovah your* God and you* will be saved from your* enemies. ¹⁰ Also in the day of your* gladness and in your* set feasts and in the beginnings of your* months, you* will blow the trumpets over your* burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your* peace offerings. And they will be to you* for a memorial before your* God: I am Jehovah your* God.

⁴ And seven priests will bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark. And the seventh day you* will encompass the city seven times and the priests will blow the trumpets.

³¹ And these are those whom David set over the service of song in the house of Jehovah, after the ark had rest. ³² And they ministered with song before the tabernacle of the tent of meeting until Solomon had built the house of Jehovah in Jerusalem and they served in their office according to their order.

⁸ And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, even with songs and with harps and with psalteries and with timbrels and with cymbals and with trumpets.

¹⁶ And David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers the singers, with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding-aloud and lifting up the voice with joy. ¹⁷ So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel. And of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah. And of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah. ¹⁸ And with them their brothers of the second rank, Zechariah, Ben and Jaaziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Unni, Eliab and Benaiah and Maaseiah and Mattithiah and Eliphelehu and Mikneiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel, the gatekeepers.
¹⁹ So the singers, Heman, Asaph and Ethan, were appointed with cymbals of brass to sound-aloud. ²⁰ And Zechariah and Aziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Unni and Eliab and Maaseiah and Benaiah, with psalteries set to Alamoth. ²¹ And Mattithiah and Eliphelehu and Mikneiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel and Azaziah, with harps set to the Sheminith, to lead.

²⁴ And Shebaniah and Joshaphat and Nethanel and Amasai and Zechariah and Benaiah and Eliezer, the priests, blew the trumpets before the ark of God. And Obed-edom and Jehiah were gatekeepers for the ark.

⁴ And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of Jehovah and to celebrate and to thank and praise Jehovah, the God of Israel: ⁵ Asaph the chief and second to him Zechariah, Jeiel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Mattithiah and Eliab and Benaiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel, with psalteries and with harps and Asaph with cymbals, sounding-aloud, ⁶ and Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually, before the ark of the covenant of God.

³⁴ O give thanks to Jehovah, for he is good, for his loving kindness is everlasting.

³⁹ and Zadok the priest and his brothers the priests, before the tabernacle of Jehovah in the high place that was at Gibeon, ⁴⁰ to offer burnt offerings to Jehovah upon the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in the law of Jehovah, which he commanded to Israel.
⁴¹ And with them Heman and Jeduthun and the rest that were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to Jehovah because his loving kindness is everlasting. ⁴² And with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those who should sound-aloud and with instruments for the songs of God and the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate.

¹ And the divisions of the sons of Aaron were these. The sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. ² But Nadab and Abihu died before their father and had no sons. Therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest's office. ³ And David with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them according to their ordering in their service.

¹ Moreover David and the captains of the army set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries and with cymbals. And the number of those who did the work according to their service was:
² Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur and Joseph and Nethaniah and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph, under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied after the order of the king.
³ Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah and Zeri and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising Jehovah.
⁴ Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth. ⁵ All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
⁶ All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of Jehovah, with cymbals, psalteries and harps, for the service of the house of God; Asaph, Jeduthun and Heman being under the order of the king. ⁷ And the number of them, with their brothers who were instructed in singing to Jehovah, even all who were skillful, was two hundred eighty-eight.

¹² Also the Levites who were the singers, all of them, even Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and their brothers, arrayed in fine linen, with cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar and with them a hundred and twenty priests blowing trumpets),

³ And all the sons of Israel looked on when the fire came down and the glory of Jehovah was upon the house. And they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement and worshiped and gave thanks to Jehovah, saying, For he is good. For his loving kindness is everlasting.

²⁵ And he set the Levites in the house of Jehovah with cymbals, with psalteries and with harps, according to the commandment of David and of Gad the king's seer and Nathan the prophet. For the commandment was of Jehovah by his prophets.

⁷ Those who sing as well as those who dance will say, All my fountains are in you.

¹ Praise Jehovah. O give thanks to Jehovah, because he is good, because his loving kindness is everlasting.

¹ O give thanks to Jehovah. Because he is good, because his loving kindness is everlasting.

¹ O give thanks to Jehovah, because he is good, because his loving kindness is everlasting.
² Let Israel now say that his loving kindness is everlasting.
³ Let the house of Aaron now say that his loving kindness is everlasting.
⁴ Let those now who fear Jehovah say that his loving kindness is everlasting.

⁸ Jehovah will perfect what is on my behalf. Your loving kindness, O Jehovah, is everlasting. Do not forsake the works of your own hands.

⁶ Therefore my people will know my name. Therefore they will know in that day that I am he who speaks, Behold, it is I.

⁵ who scatter-words to the mouth of the harp, who invent for themselves instruments of music, like David,

³⁷ Speak to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning and scatter you the fire yonder, for they are holy, ³⁸ even the censers of these sinners against their own lives and let them be made beaten plates for a covering of the altar, for they offered them before Jehovah, therefore they are holy and they will be a sign to the sons of Israel.

⁶⁴ The same day the king made the middle of the court holy that was before the house of Jehovah, for there he offered the burnt offering and the meal offering and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brazen altar that was before Jehovah was too little to receive the burnt offering and the meal offering and the fat of the peace offerings.
⁶⁵ So Solomon held the feast at that time and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt, before Jehovah our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days. ⁶⁶ On the eighth day he sent the people away. And they blessed the king and went to their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that Jehovah had shown to David his servant and to Israel his people.

¹ Moreover he made an altar of brass, twenty cubits the length of it and twenty cubits the breadth of it and ten cubits the height of it.

¹⁴ Moreover all the chiefs of the priests and the people, trespassed very greatly after all the abominations of the nations. And they polluted the house of Jehovah which he had made holy in Jerusalem.

¹⁰ We have an altar, from which those who give-divine service to the tabernacle have no authority to eat. ¹¹ For the bodies of those creatures, whose blood is brought into the holy of holies through the high-priest as an offering concerning sin, are burned outside the encampment. ¹² Hence Jesus also suffered outside the gate, in order that he might make the people holy through his own blood.

¹⁸ In that day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, To your seed I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates:

³⁴ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the feast of tabernacles for seven days to Jehovah. ³⁵ On the first day will be a holy convocation. You* will do no job work. ³⁶ Seven days you* will offer an offering made by fire to Jehovah. On the eighth day will be a holy convocation to you* and you* will offer an offering made by fire to Jehovah. It is a solemn assembly; you* will do no job work.
³⁷ These are the set feasts of Jehovah, which you* will proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to Jehovah, a burnt offering and a meal offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, each on its own day. ³⁸ Besides the Sabbaths of Jehovah and besides your* gifts and besides all your* vows and besides all your* free-will offerings, which you* give to Jehovah.
³⁹ However on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you* have gathered in the fruits of the land, you* will keep the feast of Jehovah seven days. On the first day will be a solemn rest and on the eighth day will be a solemn rest. ⁴⁰ And you* will take to you* on the first day the fruit of majestic trees, branches of palm trees and boughs of thick trees and willows of the brook and you* will rejoice before Jehovah your* God seven days. ⁴¹ And you* will keep it a feast to Jehovah seven days in the year. It is an everlasting statute throughout your* genealogy. You* will keep it in the seventh month. ⁴² You* will dwell in booths seven days. All who are home-born in Israel will dwell in booths, ⁴³ that your* genealogy may know that I made the sons of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am Jehovah your* God.

¹² And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month you* will have a holy convocation. You* will do no job work and you* will keep a feast to Jehovah seven days. ¹³ And you* will offer a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet aroma to Jehovah: thirteen young bullocks, two rams, fourteen male-lambs a year old (they will be without blemish), ¹⁴ and their meal offering, fine flour mingled with oil, three tenth parts for every bullock of the thirteen bullocks, two tenth parts for each ram of the two rams, ¹⁵ and a tenth part for every lamb of the fourteen lambs, ¹⁶ and one male-goat for a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering, the meal offering of it and the drink offering of it.
¹⁷ And on the second day, twelve young bullocks, two rams, fourteen male-lambs a year old without blemish, ¹⁸ and their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance, ¹⁹ and one male-goat for a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering and the meal offering of it and their drink offerings.
²⁰ And on the third day, eleven bullocks, two rams, fourteen male-lambs a year old without blemish, ²¹ and their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance, ²² and one male-goat for a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering and the meal offering of it and the drink offering of it.
²³ And on the fourth day, ten bullocks, two rams, fourteen male-lambs a year old without blemish, ²⁴ their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance, ²⁵ and one male-goat for a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering, the meal offering of it and the drink offering of it.
²⁶ And on the fifth day, nine bullocks, two rams, fourteen male-lambs a year old without blemish, ²⁷ and their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance, ²⁸ and one male-goat for a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering and the meal offering of it and the drink offering of it.
²⁹ And on the sixth day, eight bullocks, two rams, fourteen male-lambs a year old without blemish, ³⁰ and their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance, ³¹ and one male-goat for a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering, the meal offering of it and the drink offerings of it.
³² And on the seventh day, seven bullocks, two rams, fourteen male-lambs a year old without blemish, ³³ and their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bullocks, for the rams and for the lambs, according to their number, after the ordinance, ³⁴ and one male-goat for a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering, the meal offering of it and the drink offering of it.
³⁵ On the eighth day, you* will have a solemn assembly. You* will do no job work. ³⁶ But you* will offer a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, of a sweet aroma to Jehovah: one bullock, one ram, seven male-lambs a year old without blemish, ³⁷ their meal offering and their drink offerings for the bullock, for the ram and for the lambs, will be according to their number, after the ordinance, ³⁸ and one male-goat for a sin offering, besides the continual burnt offering and the meal offering of it and the drink offering of it.

⁵ And the border will turn about from Azmon to the brook of Egypt and the goings out of it will be at the sea.
⁶ And for the western border, you* will have the great sea and the border of it. This will be your* west border.
⁷ And this will be your* north border: From the great sea you* will mark out for you* Mount Hor. ⁸ From Mount Hor you* will mark out to the entrance of Hamath. And the goings out of the border will be at Zedad.

¹³ You will keep the feast of tabernacles seven days after you have gathered in from your threshing-floor and from your winepress. ¹⁴ And you will rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter and your man-servant and your maid-servant and the Levite and the traveler and the fatherless and the widow, who are within your gates.
¹⁵ Seven days you will keep a feast to Jehovah your God in the place which Jehovah will choose, because Jehovah your God will bless you in all your increase and in all the work of your hands and you will be altogether joyful.

³ from the Shihor, which is before Egypt, even to the border of Ekron northward, which is reckoned to the Canaanites; the five lords of the Philistines; the Gazites; also the Avvim ⁴ on the south; all the land of the Canaanites and Mearah that belongs to the Sidonians, to Aphek, to the border of the Amorites; ⁵ and the land of the Gebalites and all Lebanon, toward the sunrise, from Baal-gad under Mount Hermon to the entrance of Hamath;

²¹ And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt. They brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life. ²² And Solomon's provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour and sixty measures of meal, ²³ ten fat oxen and twenty oxen out of the pastures and a hundred sheep, besides male-deers and gazelles and roebucks and fatted fowl.
²⁴ For he had dominion over all the region on this side the River, from Tiphsah even to Gaza, over all the kings on this side of the River. And he had peace on all sides all around him. ²⁵ And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.

⁶⁵ So Solomon held the feast at that time and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of Egypt, before Jehovah our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

¹³ And many people assembled at Jerusalem to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great assembly.

¹⁸ Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance.

¹⁴ For, behold, I will raise up against you* a nation, O house of Israel, says Jehovah, the God of hosts and they will afflict you* from the entrance of Hamath to the brook of the Arabah.

¹⁶ And it will happen, that everyone who is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts and to keep the feast of tabernacles. ¹⁷ And it will be, that of the families of the earth he who does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, Jehovah of hosts, upon them there will be no rain.
¹⁸ And if the family of Egypt does not go up and does not come, that there will be the plague with which Jehovah will kill* the nations that do not go up to keep the feast of tabernacles. ¹⁹ This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

² Now the feast of the Jews, that is, the Feast of Tabernacles, was near.

²⁷ But we know where this one is from, but whenever the Christ comes, no one knows where he is from.
²⁸ Therefore Jesus cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, You both know me and know where I am from, and I have not come from myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you do not know. ²⁹ I know him, because I am from him and he sent me. ³⁰ Therefore they were seeking to arrest him and yet no one put his hand upon him (because his hour had not come yet). ³¹ But many out of the crowd believed in him, and they were saying, Whenever the Christ comes, he will not be doing signs more-than those which this one has done, will he? ³² The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the high-priests sent attendants in order that they might arrest him.
³³ Therefore Jesus said, I am still with you for a little time and I go to the one who sent me. ³⁴ You will be seeking me and will not be finding me and where I am, you are not able to come.
³⁵ Therefore the Jews said to themselves, Where is this one about to travel that we will not be finding him? He is not about to travel to the Dispersion of the Greeks and teach the Greeks, is he? ³⁶ What is this speech that he said, You will be seeking me and will not be finding me, and where I am, you are not able to come?
³⁷ Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and let him drink. ³⁸ He who believes in me, like the Scripture has said, Rivers of living water will be flowing out of his belly. ³⁹ But he spoke this concerning the Spirit, which those who believed in him were about to receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

³⁶ Seven days you* will offer an offering made by fire to Jehovah. On the eighth day will be a holy convocation to you* and you* will offer an offering made by fire to Jehovah. It is a solemn assembly; you* will do no job work.

⁸ Six days you will eat unleavened bread and on the seventh day will be a solemn assembly to Jehovah your God. You will do no work.

²³ And the whole assembly took counsel to keep another seven days. And they kept those seven days with gladness.

¹⁸ Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly according to the ordinance.

¹⁴ Sanctify a fast. Call a solemn assembly. Gather the old men and all the inhabitants of the land to the house of Jehovah your* God and cry to Jehovah.

¹ Now Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses and for Israel his people, how that Jehovah had brought Israel out of Egypt.

⁷ And there you* will eat before Jehovah your* God and you* will rejoice in all that you* put your* hand to, you* and your* households, in which Jehovah your God has blessed you.

¹² And you* will rejoice before Jehovah your* God, you* and your* sons and your* daughters and your* men-servants and your* maid-servants and the Levite who is within your* gates–inasmuch as he has no portion nor inheritance with you*.

¹⁸ But you will eat them before Jehovah your God in the place which Jehovah your God will choose, you and your son and your daughter and your man-servant and your maid-servant and the Levite who is within your gates. And you will rejoice before Jehovah your God in all that you put your hand to.

¹¹ And you will rejoice before Jehovah your God, you and your son and your daughter and your man-servant and your maid-servant and the Levite who is within your gates and the traveler and the fatherless and the widow, who are in the midst of you, in the place which Jehovah your God will choose to cause his name to dwell there,

¹⁴ And you will rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter and your man-servant and your maid-servant and the Levite and the traveler and the fatherless and the widow, who are within your gates.

⁶⁶ On the eighth day he sent the people away. And they blessed the king and went to their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that Jehovah had shown to David his servant and to Israel his people.

⁴¹ Now therefore arise, O Jehovah God, into your resting-place, you and the ark of your strength. Let your priests, O Jehovah God, be clothed with salvation and let your holy ones rejoice in goodness.

³⁶ And Hezekiah rejoiced and all the people, because of what God had prepared for the people; for the thing was done suddenly.

²⁶ So there was great joy in Jerusalem. For since the time of Solomon the son of David King of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.

¹⁰ Then he said to them, Go your* way, eat fat things and drink sweet things and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared. For this day is holy to our Lord; neither be you* grieved, for the joy of Jehovah is your* strength.

¹¹ Be glad in Jehovah and rejoice, you*, righteous ones. And shout for joy, all you* who are upright in heart.

⁴ Because you, Jehovah, have made me glad through your work. I will triumph in the works of your hands.

² Serve Jehovah with gladness. Come before his presence with singing.

³ Glory in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek Jehovah rejoice.

⁵ that I may see the prosperity of your chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance.

⁴⁶ And persevering, united in the temple and breaking bread, house to house, they were taking their nourishment in gladness and simplicity of heart,

³⁴ And he led them up into his house and placed a table before them, and was glad with all his household, all having believed in God.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, Rejoice.

¹ And it happened, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of Jehovah and the king's house and all Solomon's desire which he was pleased to do, ² that Jehovah appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon. ³ And Jehovah said to him, I have heard your prayer and your supplication, which you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there until everlasting. And my eyes and my heart will be there perpetually.
⁴ And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you and will keep my statutes and my ordinances, ⁵ then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel everlasting, just-as I promised to David your father, saying, There will not fail you a man upon the throne of Israel.
⁶ But if you* will turn away from following me, you* or your* sons and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you*, but will go and serve other gods and worship them, ⁷ then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them. And this house, which I have made holy for my name, will I cast out of my sight. And Israel will be a proverb and a parable among all peoples.
⁸ And though this house is so high, yet will every man who passes by it is astonished and will hiss. And they will say, Why has Jehovah done thus to this land and to this house? ⁹ and they will answer, Because they forsook Jehovah their God, who brought out their fathers out of the land of Egypt and laid hold on other gods and worshiped them and served them; therefore has Jehovah brought all this evil upon them.

¹ Now Solomon purposed to build a house for the name of Jehovah and a house for his kingdom.

⁴ I made great works for me. I built houses for me. I planted vineyards for me.

¹⁰ And whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any joy. Because my heart rejoiced because of all my labor and this was my portion from all my labor.
¹¹ Then I looked on all the works that my hands had worked and on the labor that I had labored to do, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind and there was no profit under the sun.

¹ And when Abram was ninety-nine years old, Jehovah appeared to Abram and said to him, I am God Almighty, walk before me and you will be perfect.

⁵ But to the place which Jehovah your* God will choose out of all your* tribes, to put his name there, even to his habitation you* will seek and there you will come. ⁶ And there you* will bring your* burnt offerings and your* sacrifices and your* tithes and the heave offering of your* hand and your* vows and your* free-will offerings and the first-offspring of your* herd and of your* flock.

¹¹ then it will happen that to the place which Jehovah your* God will choose to cause his name to dwell there, there you* will bring all that I command you*: your* burnt offerings and your* sacrifices, your* tithes and the heave offering of your* hand and all your* choice vows which you* vow to Jehovah.

² that Jehovah appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon.

⁶ And Elijah said to him, I beseech you, remain here because Jehovah has sent me to the Jordan. And he said, As Jehovah lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you. And the two went on.

⁵ Turn back and say to Hezekiah the prince of my people, Jehovah says thus, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you will go up to the house of Jehovah.

⁷ In that night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, Ask what I will give you.

¹⁶ For now I have chosen and made this house holy, that my name may be there until everlasting and my eyes and my heart will be there perpetually.

¹⁷ Jehovah, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart, you will cause your ear to hear,

¹⁹ But truly God has heard. He has attended to the voice of my prayer.

⁶⁸ but chose the tribe of Judah, the Mount Zion which he loved. ⁶⁹ And he built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he has established everlasting.

¹³ Because Jehovah has chosen Zion. He has desired it for his habitation. ¹⁴ This is my resting place forever. I will dwell here, for I have desired it.

¹³ But the messenger said to him, Do not fear, Zacharias, because your supplication was heard and your wife Elisabeth will be giving-birth to a son to you and you will call his name John.

³¹ and says, Cornelius, your prayer is heard and your charity is remembered in God’s sight.

¹⁴ And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us; ¹⁵ and if we know that he hears us whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from him.

⁴ Else, if you refuse to let my people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your border.
⁵ And they will cover the face of the earth, so that no man is able to see the ground. And they will eat the residue of what has escaped, which remains to you* from the hail and will eat every tree which grows for you* out of the field.
⁶ And your houses will be filled and the houses of all your servants and the houses of all the Egyptians, as neither your fathers nor your fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth to this day. And he turned and went out from Pharaoh.

¹² I will kill* them with the pestilence and disinherit them and will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they.

⁴⁶ And Moses said to Aaron, Take your censer and put fire in it from the altar and lay incense on it and carry it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them, for there is wrath gone out from Jehovah. The plague has begun.
⁴⁷ And Aaron took as Moses spoke and ran into the midst of the assembly. And behold, the plague had begun among the people. And he put on the incense and made atonement for the people.

¹⁷ and the anger of Jehovah be kindled against you* and he shut up the heavens, so that there will be no rain and the land will not yield its fruit and you* perish quickly from the good land which Jehovah gives you*.

¹³ So Gad came to David and told him and said to him, Shall three years of famine come to you in your land? Or will you flee three months before your foes while they pursue you? Or will there be three days' pestilence in your land? Now decide and see what answer I will return to him who sent me.
¹⁴ And David said to Gad, I am in a great strait. Let us fall now into the hand of Jehovah, for his mercies are great and do not let me fall into the hand of man. ¹⁵ So Jehovah sent a pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the time appointed. And there died of the people from Dan even to Beer-sheba seventy thousand men.

²⁶ When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain, because they have sinned against you, if they pray toward this place and confess your name and turn from their sin when you do afflict them, ²⁷ then hear you in heaven and forgive the sin of your servants and of your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk and send rain upon your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.
²⁸ If there is in the land famine, if there is pestilence, if there is blight or mildew, locust or caterpillar, if their enemies besiege them in the land of their cities, whatever plague or whatever sickness there be,

¹⁰ If he passes through and shuts up and all to judgment, then who can hinder him?

¹⁴ Behold, he breaks down and it cannot be built again. He shuts up a man and there can be no opening.

³⁴ He spoke and the locust came and the grasshopper and that without number,

³⁴ a fruitful land into a salt desert, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

¹⁹ Or if I send a pestilence into that land and pour out my wrath upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast, ²⁰ though Noah, Daniel and Job, were in it, as I live, says the lord Jehovah, they would deliver neither son nor daughter, they would but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.
²¹ For thus says the lord Jehovah: How much more when I send my four severe judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword and the famine and the evil beasts and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast!

⁴ What the palmer-worm has left the locust has eaten and what the locust has left the canker-worm has eaten and what the canker-worm has left the caterpillar has eaten.
⁵ Awake, you* drunkards and weep and wail, all you* drinkers of wine, because of the sweet wine, for it is cut off from your* mouth. ⁶ For a nation has come up upon my land, strong and without number. His teeth are the teeth of a lion and he has the jaw-teeth of a lioness. ⁷ He has laid my vine waste and barked my fig tree. He has made it clean bare and cast it away. The tendrils of it are made white.

²⁵ And I will restore to you* the years that the locust, the canker-worm and the caterpillar and the palmer-worm has eaten–my great army which I sent among you*.

²⁵ But in truth I say to you, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was locked for three years and six months, as such there became a large famine over all the land;

⁷ And write to the messenger of the congregation in Philadelphia:
He (the holy one, the true one, who has the key of David, who opens and no one will lock, except he who opens and no one will open) says these things:

⁶ These have the authority to lock the heaven, in order that no rainfall may rain on the days of their prophecy and they have authority over the waters to turn them into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of wound, whenever they will it.

⁴⁰ And they will confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they trespassed against me and also that, because they walked contrary to me, ⁴¹ I also walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised heart be humbled and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity,

²⁹ But from there you* will seek Jehovah your God. And you will find him when you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul. ³⁰ When you are in tribulation and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to Jehovah your God and listen to his voice.

¹ And it will happen, when all these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you and you will call them to mind among all the nations, where Jehovah your God has driven you, ² and will return to Jehovah your God and will obey his voice according to all that I command you this day, you and your sons, with all your heart and with all your soul, ³ that then Jehovah your God will turn your captivity and have compassion upon you and will return and gather you from all the peoples where Jehovah your God has scattered you.
⁴ If any of your outcasts be in the outermost parts of heaven, from there Jehovah your God will gather you and from there he will fetch you. ⁵ And Jehovah your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed and you will possess it and he will do you good and multiply you above your fathers. ⁶ And Jehovah your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your seed, to love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live.

²⁷ then hear you in heaven and forgive the sin of your servants and of your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk and send rain upon your land, which you have given to your people for an inheritance.

³⁰ then hear you from heaven your dwelling-place and forgive and render to every man according to all his ways, whose heart you know, (for you, even you only, know the hearts of the sons of men),

³⁷ yet if they will rethink themselves in the land where they are carried captive and turn again and make supplication to you in the land of their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have done perversely and have dealt wickedly, ³⁸ if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity where they have carried them captive and pray toward their land, which you gave to their fathers and the city which you have chosen and toward the house which I have built for your name, ³⁹ then hear you from heaven, even from your dwelling-place, their prayer and their supplications and maintain their case and forgive your people who have sinned against you.

¹² And when he was in distress, he besought Jehovah his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers. ¹³ And he prayed to him. And he was entreated of him and heard his supplication and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that Jehovah he was God.

¹⁸ Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh and his prayer to his God and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of Jehovah, the God of Israel, behold, they are written among the acts of the kings of Israel.
¹⁹ Also his prayer and how God was entreated by him and all his sin and his trespass and the places in which he built high places and set up the Asherim.

² You have made the land to tremble. You have torn it. Heal the breaking of it, because it shakes.

¹³ He who covers his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

¹⁹ I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness. I did not say to the seed of Jacob, Seek me in vain. I, Jehovah, speak righteousness, declaring uprightness.

⁶ Seek Jehovah while he may be found. Call you* upon him while he is near. ⁷ Let the wicked man forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts. And let him return to Jehovah and he will have mercy upon him and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

²⁰ And he who redeems will come to Zion and to those who turn from transgression in Jacob, says Jehovah.

¹⁹ We have become like those of old whom never ruled over you and who were not called by your name.

²² Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has not the health of the daughter of my people recovered?

⁶ Behold, I will bring it health and cure and I will cure them. And I will reveal to them abundance of peace and truth.

⁹ We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed. Forsake her and let us go each one into his own country. For her judgment reaches to heaven and is lifted up even to the skies.

⁴⁰ Let us search and try our ways and turn again to Jehovah. ⁴¹ Let us lift up our heart with our hands to God in the heavens.

²⁷ Again, when a wicked man turns away from his wickedness that he has committed and does what is lawful and right, he will save his soul alive. ²⁸ Because he considers and turns away from all his transgressions that he has committed, he will surely live. He will not die.
²⁹ Yet the house of Israel says, The way of the Lord is not equitable. O house of Israel, are not my ways equitable? Are not your* ways inequitable?
³⁰ Therefore I will judge you*, O house of Israel, each one according to his ways, says the lord Jehovah. Return and turn yourselves from all your* transgressions, so iniquity will not be your* ruin.

¹¹ Say to them, As I live, says the lord Jehovah, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked man, but that the wicked man turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your* evil ways, for why will you* die, O house of Israel?

¹¹ Now the Lord said to him, When you stand up, travel to the lane which is called Straight and seek one from Tarsus, Saul by name, in the house of Judas; for behold, he is praying;

⁹ Be miserable and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy be turned to gloom. ¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and he will be exalting you.

¹² a land which Jehovah your God cares for. The eyes of Jehovah your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even to the end of the year.

²⁰ that your eyes may be open toward this house day and night, even toward the place of which you have said that you would put your name there, to listen to the prayer which your servant will pray toward this place.

⁴⁰ Now, O my God, I beseech you, let your eyes be open and let your ears be attendant to the prayer that is made in this place.

⁶ Let your ear now be attentive and your eyes open, that you may listen to the prayer of your servant, which I pray before you at this time, day and night, for the sons of Israel your servants while I confess the sins of the sons of Israel, which we have sinned against you. Yes, I and my father's house have sinned.

² O you who hear prayer, all flesh will come to you.

² Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.

¹² because the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and his ears are toward their supplication. But the face of the Lord is against those who are practicing evil.

²¹ If the place which Jehovah your God will choose, to put his name there, be too far from you, then you will kill of your herd and of your flock, which Jehovah has given you, as I have commanded you and you may eat within your gates, according to all the desire of your soul.

¹⁶ Since the day that I brought out my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be there, but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

³⁵ When heaven is shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray toward this place and confess your name and turn from their sin when you afflict them,

⁴⁴ If your people go out to battle against their enemy, by whatever way you will send them and they pray to Jehovah toward the city which you have chosen and toward the house which I have built for your name,

⁴⁸ if they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who carried them captive and pray to you toward their land, which you gave to their fathers, the city which you have chosen and the house which I have built for your name,

³ And Jehovah said to him, I have heard your prayer and your supplication, which you have made before me. I have made this house holy, which you have built, to put my name there until everlasting. And my eyes and my heart will be there perpetually.

⁴ And he built altars in the house of Jehovah, of which Jehovah said, In Jerusalem I will put my name.

⁷ And he set the graven image of Asherah, that he had made, in the house of which Jehovah said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever. ⁸ Neither will I cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave their fathers, if only they will observe to do according to all that I have commanded them and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them.

⁵ Since the day that I brought out my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in that my name might be there. Neither did I choose any man to be ruler over my people Israel. ⁶ But I have chosen Jerusalem that my name might be there. And have chosen David to be over my people Israel.

¹² And Jehovah appeared to Solomon by night and said to him, I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice.

¹⁵ Now my eyes will be open and my ears attend to the prayer that is made in this place.

⁴ And he built altars in the house of Jehovah, of which Jehovah said, In Jerusalem will my name be everlasting. ⁵ And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of Jehovah.
⁶ He also made his sons to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom. And he practiced soothsaying and used enchantments and practiced sorcery and dealt with psychics and with wizards. He worked much evil in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger.
⁷ And he set the graven image of the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name everlasting,

¹⁴ This is my resting place forever. I will dwell here, for I have desired it.

² And Jehovah said to Satan, Jehovah rebuke you, O Satan. Yes, Jehovah who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you. Is this not a brand plucked out of the fire?

¹⁷ and behold, a voice came out of the heavens, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am delighted.

¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, Tear-down this temple and I will be lifting it up in three days.
²⁰ Therefore the Jews said, This temple was built in forty-six years and you will be lifting it up in three days? ²¹ But that he spoke concerning the temple of his body.

⁹ because all the fullness of the Deity is dwelling in him bodily.

⁴⁰ And you will keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you this day, that it may go well with you and with your sons after you and that you may prolong your days in the land, which Jehovah your God gives you, forever.

¹ And it will happen, if you will listen diligently to the voice of Jehovah your God, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you this day, that Jehovah your God will set you on high above all the nations of the earth, ² and all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, if you will listen to the voice of Jehovah your God:
³ You will be blessed in the city and you will be blessed in the field. ⁴ The fruit of your body will be blessed and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your beasts, the increase of your cattle and the young of your flock. ⁵ Your basket and your kneading-trough will be blessed. ⁶ You will be blessed when you come in and you will be blessed when you go out.
⁷ Jehovah will cause your enemies that rise up against you to be struck before you. They will come out against you one way and will flee before you seven ways. ⁸ Jehovah will command the blessing upon you in your barns and in all that you put your hand to. And he will bless you in the land which Jehovah your God gives you.
⁹ Jehovah will establish you for a holy people to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you will keep the commandments of Jehovah your God and walk in his ways. ¹⁰ And all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of Jehovah and they will be afraid of you.
¹¹ And Jehovah will make you plenteous for good, in the fruit of your body and in the fruit of your cattle and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which Jehovah swore to your fathers to give you.
¹² Jehovah will open to you his good treasure the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hand. And you will lend to many nations and you will not borrow.
¹³ And Jehovah will make you the head and not the tail. And you will only be above and you will not be beneath, if you will listen to the commandments of Jehovah your God, which I command you this day, to observe and to do, ¹⁴ and will not turn aside from any of the words which I command you* this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

³ and keep the charge of Jehovah your God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments and his ordinances and his testimonies, according to what is written in the law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn yourself.

¹⁴ And if you will walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.

²⁵ Now therefore, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father what you have promised him, saying, There will not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your sons take heed to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.

³⁸ And it will be, if you will listen to all that I command you and will walk in my ways and do what is right in my eyes, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did. That I will be with you and will build you a sure house as I built for David and will give Israel to you.

⁹ And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind, for Jehovah searches all hearts and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

⁴⁵ that they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Praise Jehovah.

²⁷ And I will put my Spirit within you* and cause you* to walk in my statutes and you* will keep my ordinances and do them.

⁷ Jehovah of hosts says thus: If you will walk in my ways and if you will keep my charge, then you also will judge my house and will also keep my courts and I will give you a place of access among these who stand by.

²¹ He who holds my commandments and is keeping them, that one is he who loves me and he who loves me will be loved by my Father and I will love him and will be manifesting myself to him.

¹⁰ If you keep my commandments, you will be abiding in my love; just-as I have kept my Father’s commandments and am abiding in his love.

¹³ He will build a house for my name and I will establish the throne of his kingdom until everlasting.
¹⁴ I will be his father and he will be my son. If he commits wicked things, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the sons of men, ¹⁵ but my loving kindness will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul whom I put away before you. ¹⁶ And your house and your kingdom will be made sure forever before you; your throne will be established until everlasting.

⁵ then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel everlasting, just-as I promised to David your father, saying, There will not fail you a man upon the throne of Israel.

¹⁶ Now therefore, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father what you have promised him, saying, There will not fail you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your sons take heed to their way, to walk in my law as you have walked before me.

²⁸ I will keep my loving kindness for him everlasting. And my covenant will stand fast with him. ²⁹ I will also make his seed to endure forever and his throne as the days of heaven.
³⁰ If his sons forsake my law and do not walk in my ordinances, ³¹ if they break my statutes and do not keep my commandments, ³² then I will visit their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes, ³³ but my loving kindness I will not utterly take from him, nor allow my faithfulness to fail.
³⁴ I will not break my covenant, nor alter the thing that has gone out of my lips.
³⁵ I have sworn once by my holiness; I will not lie to David. ³⁶ His seed will endure everlasting and his throne as the sun before me. ³⁷ It will be established everlasting as the moon and as the faithful witness in the sky. Selah.
³⁸ But you have cast off and rejected. You have been angry with your anointed. ³⁹ You have spurned the covenant of your servant. You have profaned his crown to the ground. ⁴⁰ You have broken down all his hedges. You have brought his strongholds to ruin.

¹¹ Jehovah has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it: From the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne. ¹² If your sons will keep my covenant and my testimony that I will teach them, their sons also will sit upon your throne forever.

²⁰ Jehovah says thus: If you* can break my covenant of the day and my covenant of the night, so that there will not be day and night in their season, ²¹ then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he will not have a son to reign upon his throne and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

²⁵ Jehovah says thus: If my covenant of day and night stand not, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth, ²⁶ then I will also cast away the seed of Jacob and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will cause their captivity to return and will have mercy on them.

¹⁴ But if you* will not listen to me and will not do all these commandments,

³³ And I will scatter you* among the nations and I will draw out the sword after you* and your* land will be a desolation and your* cities will be a waste. ³⁴ Then the land will enjoy its Sabbaths, as long as it lies desolate and you* are in your* enemies' land, even then will the land rest and enjoy its Sabbaths. ³⁵ As long as it lies desolate it will have rest, even the rest which it had not in your* Sabbaths, when you* dwelt upon it.
³⁶ And as for those who are left of you*, I will send a faintness into their heart in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a driven leaf will chase them and they will flee as a man flees from the sword and they will fall when no man pursues. ³⁷ And they will stumble one upon another, as it were before the sword, when no man pursues. And you* will have no power to stand before your* enemies. ³⁸ And you* will perish among the nations and the land of your* enemies will eat you* up. ³⁹ And those who are left of you* will pine away in their iniquity in your* enemies' lands and also in the iniquities of their fathers they will pine away with them.
⁴⁰ And they will confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, in their trespass which they trespassed against me and also that, because they walked contrary to me, ⁴¹ I also walked contrary to them and brought them into the land of their enemies. If then their uncircumcised heart be humbled and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity, ⁴² then I will remember my covenant with Jacob and also my covenant with Isaac and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember and I will remember the land. ⁴³ The land also will be left by them and will enjoy its Sabbaths while it lies desolate without them. And they will accept of the punishment of their iniquity, because, even because they rejected my ordinances and their soul loathed my statutes.
⁴⁴ And yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly and to break my covenant with them, for I am Jehovah their God, ⁴⁵ but for their sakes I will remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am Jehovah.
⁴⁶ These are the statutes and ordinances and laws, which Jehovah made between him and the sons of Israel at Mount Sinai by Moses.

²³ Take heed to yourselves, lest you* forget the covenant of Jehovah your* God, which he made with you* and make you* a graven image in the form of anything which Jehovah your God has forbidden you. ²⁴ For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
²⁵ When you will beget sons and son's sons and you* will have been long in the land and will corrupt yourselves and make a graven image in the form of anything and will do what is evil in the sight of Jehovah your God, to provoke him to anger, ²⁶ I call heaven and earth to witness against you* this day, that you* will soon utterly perish from the land to which you* go over the Jordan to possess it. You* will not prolong your* days upon it, but will be utterly destroyed.
²⁷ And Jehovah will scatter you* among the peoples and you* will be left few in number among the nations where Jehovah will lead you* away.

¹⁵ But it will happen, if you will not listen to the voice of Jehovah your God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command you this day, that all these curses will come upon you and overtake you:

³⁶ Jehovah will bring you and your king whom you will set over you, to a nation that you have not known, you nor your fathers. And there you will serve other gods, wood and stone. ³⁷ And you will become an astonishment, a proverb and a parable, among all the peoples where Jehovah will lead you away.
³⁸ You will carry much seed out into the field and will gather little in, for the locust will consume it. ³⁹ You will plant vineyards and dress them, but you will neither drink of the wine, nor gather, for the worm will eat them. ⁴⁰ You will have olive trees throughout all your borders, but you will not anoint yourself with the oil, for your olive will drop off. ⁴¹ You will beget sons and daughters, but they will not be your, for they will go into captivity. ⁴² All your trees and the fruit of your ground will the locust possess.
⁴³ The traveler who is in the midst of you will mount up above you higher and higher and you will come down lower and lower. ⁴⁴ He will lend to you and you will not lend to him. He will be the head and you will be the tail.
⁴⁵ And all these curses will come upon you and will pursue you and overtake you, till you are destroyed, because you listened not to the voice of Jehovah your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded you, ⁴⁶ and they will be upon you for a sign and for a wonder and upon your seed everlasting. ⁴⁷ Because you served not Jehovah your God with joyfulness and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things, ⁴⁸ therefore you will serve your enemies that Jehovah will send against you, in hunger and in thirst and in nakedness and in want of all things. And he will put a yoke of iron upon your neck, until he has destroyed you.
⁴⁹ Jehovah will bring a nation against you from far, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flies, a nation whose tongue you will not understand, ⁵⁰ a nation of fierce countenance, that will not regard the person of the old, nor show favor to the young, ⁵¹ and will eat the fruit of your cattle and the fruit of your ground, until you are destroyed, that also will not leave you grain, new wine, or oil, the increase of your cattle, or the young of your flock, until they have caused you to perish. ⁵² And they will besiege you in all your gates, until your high and fortified walls come down, in which you trusted, throughout all your land. And they will besiege you in all your gates throughout all your land, which Jehovah your God has given you.
⁵³ And you will eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, whom Jehovah your God has given you, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies will distress you. ⁵⁴ The man who is tender among you* and very delicate, his eye will be evil toward his brother and toward the wife of his bosom and toward the remnant of his sons whom he has remaining, ⁵⁵ so that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his sons whom he will eat, because he has nothing left to him, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy will distress you in all your gates.
⁵⁶ The tender and delicate woman among you*, who would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye will be evil toward the husband of her bosom and toward her son and toward her daughter, ⁵⁷ and toward her young one who comes out from between her feet and toward her sons whom she will bear, for she will eat them secretly for want of all things, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy will distress you in your gates.
⁵⁸ If you will not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, JEHOVAH YOUR GOD, ⁵⁹ then Jehovah will make your calamities extraordinary and the calamities of your seed, even great calamities and of long continuance and severe sicknesses and of long continuance.
⁶⁰ And he will bring upon you again all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of and they will cling to you. ⁶¹ Also every sickness and every calamity, which is not written in the book of this law, them Jehovah will bring upon you, until you are destroyed. ⁶² And you* will be left few in number, in that you* were as the stars of heaven for multitude, because you did not listen to the voice of Jehovah your God.
⁶³ And it will happen, that, as Jehovah rejoiced over you* to do you* good and to multiply you*, so Jehovah will rejoice over you* to cause you* to perish and to destroy you*. And you* will be plucked from the land where you go in to possess it.
⁶⁴ And Jehovah will scatter you among all peoples, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. And you will serve other gods there, which you have not known, you nor your fathers, even wood and stone ones.
⁶⁵ And among these nations you will find no ease and there will be no rest for the sole of your foot, but Jehovah will give you there a trembling heart and failing of eyes and pining of soul. ⁶⁶ And your life will hang in doubt before you and you will fear night and day and will have no assurance of your life. ⁶⁷ In the morning you will say, Would it were evening! and at evening you will say, Would it were morning! for the fear of your heart which you will fear and for the sight of your eyes which you will see. ⁶⁸ And Jehovah will bring you into Egypt again with ships, by the way of which I said to you, You will see it no more again. And there you* will sell yourselves to your* enemies for bondmen and for bondwomen and no man will buy you*.

¹⁵ And it will happen, that as all the good things have come upon you* of which Jehovah your* God spoke to you*, so will Jehovah bring upon you* all the evil things, until he has destroyed you* from this good land which Jehovah your* God has given you*. ¹⁶ When you* transgress the covenant of Jehovah your* God, which he commanded you* and go and serve other gods and bow down yourselves to them, then the anger of Jehovah will be kindled against you* and you* will perish quickly from the good land which he has given to you*.

²⁵ But if you* will still do wickedly, you* will be consumed, both you* and your* king.

⁶ But if you* will turn away from following me, you* or your* sons and not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you*, but will go and serve other gods and worship them, ⁷ then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them. And this house, which I have made holy for my name, will I cast out of my sight. And Israel will be a proverb and a parable among all peoples.

⁴ For it happened, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods. And his heart was not perfect with Jehovah his God as was the heart of David his father. ⁵ For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
⁶ And Solomon did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah and went not fully after Jehovah as did David his father. ⁷ Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab on the mountain that is before Jerusalem and for Molech the abomination of the sons of Ammon. ⁸ And so he did for all his foreign wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed to their gods.

³⁷ And you will become an astonishment, a proverb and a parable, among all the peoples where Jehovah will lead you away.

²⁸ And Jehovah rooted them out of their land in anger and in wrath and in great indignation and cast them into another land, as at this day.

⁷ then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them. And this house, which I have made holy for my name, will I cast out of my sight. And Israel will be a proverb and a parable among all peoples.

¹⁵ For Jehovah will kill* Israel as a reed is shaken in the water. And he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers and will scatter them beyond the River because they have made their Asherim, provoking Jehovah to anger.

²⁰ And Jehovah rejected all the seed of Israel and afflicted them and delivered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

¹ But it happened that, when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was angry and took great indignation and mocked the Jews. ² And he spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria and said, What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, seeing they are burnt?
³ Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him and he said, Even what they are building, if a fox goes up he will break down their stone wall.
⁴ Hear, O our God, for we are despised and so turn back their reproach upon their own head and give them up for a spoil in a land of captivity,

¹⁴ You make us a proverb among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.

⁵ God will likewise destroy you forever. He will take you up and pluck you out of your tent and root you out of the land of the living. Selah.

¹⁷ But if they will not hear, then I will pluck up that nation, plucking up and destroying it, says Jehovah.

⁷ At that instant I will speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up and to break down and to destroy it,

⁹ I will even give them up to be tossed to and fro among all the kingdoms of the earth for evil, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I will drive them.

²⁸ And it will happen that, just as I have watched over them to pluck up and to break down and to overthrow and to destroy and to afflict, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says Jehovah.

⁴ Thus you will say to him, Jehovah says thus: Behold, what I have built I will break down and what I have planted I will pluck up and this in the whole land.

¹⁵ All who pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men called The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth? ¹⁶ All your enemies have opened their mouth wide against you. They hiss and gnash the teeth. They say, We have swallowed her up. Certainly this is the day that we looked for. We have found, we have seen it.

¹² These people are hidden-reefs in your love-feasts, sumptuously feasting fearlessly alongside you, shepherding themselves, they are waterless clouds, being carried away by the winds; unfruitful autumn trees, twice dead, having been uprooted,

²⁴ even all the nations will say, Why has Jehovah done thus to this land? What is the meaning of the heat of this great anger?
²⁵ Then men will say, Because they forsook the covenant of Jehovah, the God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, ²⁶ and went and served other gods and worshiped them, gods that they did not know and that he had not given to them. ²⁷ Therefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curse that is written in this book. ²⁸ And Jehovah rooted them out of their land in anger and in wrath and in great indignation and cast them into another land, as at this day.

⁸ Therefore the wrath of Jehovah was upon Judah and Jerusalem and he has delivered them to be tossed to and fro, to be an astonishment and a hissing, as you* see with your* eyes.

¹⁹ And it will happen, when you* will say, Why has Jehovah our God done all these things to us? Then you will say to them, Just as you* have forsaken me and served foreign gods in your* land, so you* will serve strangers in a land that is not yours*.

²² And if you say in your heart, Why have these things come upon me? For the greatness of your iniquity your skirts are uncovered and your heels suffer violence.

¹⁰ And it will happen, when you will show this people all these words and they will say to you, Why has Jehovah pronounced all this great evil against us? Or what is our iniquity? Or what is our sin that we have committed against Jehovah our God?
¹¹ Then you will say to them, Because your* fathers have forsaken me, says Jehovah and have walked after other gods and have served them and have worshiped them and have forsaken me and have not kept my law.
¹² And you* have done evil more than your* fathers, for, behold, you* walk each one after the stubbornness of his evil heart, so that you* listen not to me.

⁸ And I will make this city an astonishment and a hissing. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all the plagues of it.

⁸ And many nations will pass by this city and they will say each man to his neighbor, Why has Jehovah done thus to this great city? ⁹ Then they will answer, Because they forsook the covenant of Jehovah their God and worshiped other gods and served them.

²⁸ Is this man Coniah a despised broken vessel? Is he a vessel in which none delights? Why are they cast out, he and his seed and are cast into the land which they do not know?

¹⁷ And Edom will become an astonishment. Everyone who passes by it will be astonished and will hiss at all the plagues of it.

¹³ Because of the wrath of Jehovah she will not be inhabited, but she will be entirely desolate. Everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished and hiss at all her plagues.

¹² And they forsook Jehovah, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt and followed other gods, of the gods of the peoples that were all around them and bowed themselves down to them. And they provoked Jehovah to anger. ¹³ And they forsook Jehovah and served Baal and the Ashtaroth.

¹⁷ Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and had no compassion upon young man or virgin, old man or hoary-headed. He gave them all into his hand.

¹⁶ And I will utter my judgments against them concerning all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me and have burned incense to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.

¹⁷ Jehovah has done what he purposed. He has fulfilled his word that he commanded in the days of long-ago. He has thrown down and has not pitied. And he has caused the enemy to rejoice over you. He has exalted the horn of your adversaries.

¹³ It is because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, who have shed the blood of the just in the midst of her.
¹⁴ They wander as blind men in the streets. They are polluted with blood, so that men cannot touch their garments. ¹⁵ Depart, they cried to them. Unclean! Depart, depart, do not touch! When they fled away and wandered, men said among the nations, They will no more journey here.

²³ And they will comfort you* when you* see their way and their practices. And you* will know that I have not done all that I have done in it without cause, says the lord Jehovah.

¹⁷ Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their way and by their practices. Their way before me was as the uncleanness of a woman in her impurity.
¹⁸ Therefore I poured out my wrath upon them for the blood which they had poured out upon the land and because they had defiled it with their idols. ¹⁹ And I scattered them among the nations and they were dispersed through the countries. I judged them according to their way and according to their practices.
²⁰ And when they came to the nations where they went, they profaned my holy name, in that men said of them, These are the people of Jehovah and have gone forth out of his land.

¹² And he has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil, for under the whole heaven has not been done as has been done upon Jerusalem.
