⁶ And his heart was lifted up in the ways of Jehovah. And furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.

⁴⁷ Because you served not Jehovah your God with joyfulness and with gladness of heart, by reason of the abundance of all things,

⁴³ And he walked in all the way of Asa his father. He turned not aside from it, doing what was right in the eyes of Jehovah. However the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

³ For he took away the foreign altars and the high places and broke down the pillars and hewed down the Asherim,

¹⁷ But the high places were not taken away out of Israel. Nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

³ Nevertheless there are good things found in you, in that you have put away the Asheroth out of the land and have set your heart to seek God.

³³ However the high places were not taken away. Neither as yet had the people set their hearts to the God of their fathers.

¹ Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah and broke in pieces the pillars and hewed down the Asherim and broke down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, also in Ephraim and Manasseh, until they had destroyed them all. Then all the sons of Israel returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities.

³ For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father. And in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places and the Asherim and the graven images and the molten images.
⁴ And they broke down the altars of the Baals and the graven images and the molten images, he broke in pieces and made dust of them and strewed it upon the graves of those who had sacrificed to them. ⁵ And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars and purged Judah and Jerusalem.
⁶ And so also in the cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and Simeon, even to Naphtali, in their ruins all around. ⁷ And he broke down the altars and beat the Asherim and the graven images into powder and hewed down all the sun-images throughout all the land of Israel and returned to Jerusalem.

²⁶ For then will you delight yourself in the Almighty and will lift up your face to God.

²¹ Because I have kept the ways of Jehovah and have not wickedly departed from my God.
²² Because all his ordinances were before me and I put not away his statutes from me.

¹ Those who are perfect in the way, who walk in the law of Jehovah are fortunate.

⁵ Yes, they will sing of the ways of Jehovah, because great is the glory of Jehovah.

⁹ Who is wise, that he may understand these things, prudent, that he may know them? For the ways of Jehovah are right and the just will walk in them. But transgressors will fall in them.

¹⁰ and said, O full of all treachery and all villainy, you son of the devil, enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?
