¹ And they continued three years without war between Syria and Israel. ² And it happened in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the King of Israel. ³ And the King of Israel said to his servants, Know that Ramoth-gilead is ours and we are still and do not take it out of the hand of the king of Syria? ⁴ And he said to Jehoshaphat, Will you go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the King of Israel, I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.
⁵ And Jehoshaphat said to the King of Israel, I beseech you, inquire first for the word of Jehovah. ⁶ Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men and said to them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king. ⁷ But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we may inquire of him? ⁸ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Do not let the king say so.
⁹ Then the King of Israel called an officer and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imlah. ¹⁰ Now the King of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria. And all the prophets were prophesying before them.
¹¹ And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for him horns of iron and said, Jehovah says thus, With these you will push the Syrians until they are consumed. ¹² And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead and prosper, for Jehovah will deliver it into the hand of the king.
¹³ And the messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. I beseech you, let your word be like the word of one of them and speak good. ¹⁴ And Micaiah said, As Jehovah lives, what Jehovah says to me, that I will speak.
¹⁵ And when he came to the king, the king said to him, Micaiah, will we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or will we forbear? And he answered him, Go up and prosper and Jehovah will deliver it into the hand of the king. ¹⁶ And the king said to him, How many times shall I make you swear that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of Jehovah?
¹⁷ And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And Jehovah said, These have no master, let them return every man to his house in peace. ¹⁸ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?
¹⁹ And Micaiah said, Therefore hear the word of Jehovah. I saw Jehovah sitting on his throne and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right hand and on his left. ²⁰ And Jehovah said, Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner and another said on that manner.
²¹ And there came out a spirit and stood before Jehovah and said, I will entice him. ²² And Jehovah said to him, With what? And he said, I will go forth and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You will entice him and will also prevail. Go forth and do so. ²³ Now therefore, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets and Jehovah has spoken evil concerning you.
²⁴ Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and killed* Micaiah on the cheek and said, Which way did the Spirit of Jehovah go from me to speak to you? ²⁵ And Micaiah said, Behold, you will see on that day when you will go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.
²⁶ And the King of Israel said, Take Micaiah and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king's son, ²⁷ and say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction until I come in peace. ²⁸ And Micaiah said, If you return at all in peace, Jehovah has not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, you* peoples, all of you*.
²⁹ So the King of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead. ³⁰ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself and go into the battle, but put on your robes. And the King of Israel disguised himself and went into the battle.
³¹ Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the King of Israel.
³² And it happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the King of Israel and they turned aside to fight against him. And Jehoshaphat cried out. ³³ And it happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the King of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
³⁴ And a certain man drew his bow at a venture and killed* the King of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, Turn your hand and carry me out of the army, for I am severely wounded. ³⁵ And the battle increased that day. And the king was propped up in his chariot against the Syrians. And he died at evening and the blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.
³⁶ And there went a cry throughout the army about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city and every man to his country.
³⁷ So the king died and was brought to Samaria and they buried the king in Samaria. ³⁸ And they washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria and the dogs licked up his blood (now the prostitutes washed themselves there), according to the word of Jehovah which he spoke.
³⁹ Now the rest of the acts of Ahab and all that he did and the ivory house which he built and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel? ⁴⁰ So Ahab slept with his fathers and Ahaziah his son reigned instead of him.
⁴¹ And Jehoshaphat the son of Asa began to reign over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab King of Israel. ⁴² Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he began to reign and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.
⁴³ And he walked in all the way of Asa his father. He turned not aside from it, doing what was right in the eyes of Jehovah. However the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places. ⁴⁴ And Jehoshaphat made peace with the King of Israel.
⁴⁵ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat and his might that he showed and how he warred, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
⁴⁶ And he put away out of the land the remnant of the sodomites, who remained in the days of his father Asa. ⁴⁷ And there was no king in Edom; a deputy was king. ⁴⁸ Jehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they did not go, for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber. ⁴⁹ Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, Let my servants go with your servants in the ships. But Jehoshaphat would not.
⁵⁰ And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father. And Jehoram his son reigned instead of him. ⁵¹ Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah and he reigned two years over Israel.
⁵² And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah and walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, how he made Israel to sin. ⁵³ And he served Baal and worshiped him and provoked to anger Jehovah, the God of Israel, according to all that his father had done

³⁴ And Ben-hadad said to him, The cities which my father took from your father I will restore and you will make streets for you in Damascus as my father made in Samaria. And I, said Ahab, will let you go with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him and let him go.

²⁴ And Asa slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father. And Jehoshaphat his son reigned instead of him.

⁴⁴ And Jehoshaphat made peace with the King of Israel.

¹⁸ And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for he had the daughter of Ahab as a wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah.

¹ Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance. And he a marriage-agreement with Ahab. ² And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance and for the people who were with him and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth-gilead. ³ And Ahab King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he answered him, I am as you are and my people as your people and will be with you in the war.

⁴⁰ for just-as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea-creature; so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

²¹ Jesus began to show to his disciples from then on, that it is essential for him to go to Jerusalem and to suffer many things from the elders and high-priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to arise in the third day.

⁴³ namely, Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, for the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, for the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.

⁸ And beyond the Jordan at Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness in the plain out of the tribe of Reuben and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.

³⁸ And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its suburbs, the city of refuge for the manslayer and Mahanaim with its suburbs,

² And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson has come here. And they encompassed him in and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city and were quiet all the night, saying, Not till morning light, then we will kill him.

¹⁰ And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why so you* speak not a word of bringing the king back?

¹³ Ben-geber, in Ramoth-gilead (to him pertained the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; even to him pertained the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls and brazen bars);

⁷ And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up. I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.

³ And Ahab King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he answered him, I am as you are and my people as your people and will be with you in the war.

² And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to king Jehoshaphat, Should you help the wicked and love those who hate Jehovah? For this thing wrath is upon you from before Jehovah.

²¹ Do I not hate them, O Jehovah, who hate you? And am I not grieved with those who rise up against you? ²² I hate them with perfect hatred. They have become my enemies.

²⁰ Walk with wise men and you will be wise. But the companion of fools will be evil for it.

³³ Do not be misled: evil associations corrupt virtuous morals.

¹⁶ And what alliance has a temple of God with idols? For you are a temple of the living God; just-as God said, ‘I will be dwelling among them and will be walking among them, and I will be their God and they will be a people to me.’ ¹⁷ Hence ‘Come out from the midst of them and be separate,’says the Lord, ‘And touch no unclean thing, and I will accept you\super\'b0

¹¹ And have no fellowship together with the unfruitful works of darkness, but also rather reprove them;

¹¹ for he who says hello to him is sharing in his evil works.

²⁶ And he who overcomes and he who is keeping my works to the end, to him I will be giving authority over the nations.

²¹ And he will stand before Eleazar the priest, who will inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Jehovah. At his word will they go out and at his word they will come in, both he and all the sons of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

¹⁴ And the men took of their provision and did not ask counsel at the mouth of Jehovah.

¹ And it happened after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel asked of Jehovah, saying, Who will go up for us first against the Canaanites, to fight against them?

¹⁸ And the sons of Israel arose and went up to Bethel and asked counsel of God. And they said, Who will go up for us first to battle against the sons of Benjamin? And Jehovah said, Judah first.

²³ And the sons of Israel went up and wept before Jehovah until evening. And they asked of Jehovah, saying, Shall I again draw near to battle against the sons of Benjamin my brother? And Jehovah said, Go up against him.

²⁹ And Israel set an ambush against Gibeah all around.

¹⁸ And Saul said to Ahijah, Bring here the ark of God. For the ark of God was there at that time with the sons of Israel.

² Therefore David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go and kill* these Philistines? And Jehovah said to David, Go and kill* the Philistines and save Keilah.

⁴ Then David inquired of Jehovah yet again. And Jehovah answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.

⁹ And David knew that Saul was devising mischief against him and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring here the ephod.
¹⁰ Then said David, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, your servant has surely heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to destroy the city for my sake. ¹¹ Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? Will Saul come down as your servant has heard? O Jehovah, the God of Israel, I beseech you, tell your servant. And Jehovah said, He will come down. ¹² Then David said, Will the men of Keilah deliver up me and my men into the hand of Saul? And Jehovah said, They will deliver you up.

⁸ And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, If I pursue after this troop, shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue, for you will surely overtake them and will without fail recover all.

³ But the messenger of Jehovah said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them, Is it because there is no God in Israel that you* go to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?

¹¹ But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the King of Israel's servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.

¹³ So Saul died for his trespass which he committed against Jehovah, because of the word of Jehovah, which he did not keep and also because he asked counsel of a spiritist, to inquire of it,

⁴ And Jehoshaphat said to the King of Israel, I beseech you, inquire first for the word of Jehovah. ⁵ Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men and said to them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up. For God will deliver it into the hand of the king.

⁵ Trust in Jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding. ⁶ Acknowledge him in all your ways and he will direct your paths.

² I beseech you, inquire of Jehovah on our behalf. For Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us. Perhaps Jehovah will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may go up from us.

² and said to Jeremiah the prophet, Please let our supplication be presented before you and pray for us to Jehovah your God, even for all this remnant, for we are left but a few of many, as your eyes do behold us, ³ that Jehovah your God may show us the way in which we should walk and the thing that we should do.
⁴ Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them, I have heard you*. Behold, I will pray to Jehovah your* God according to your* words and it will happen that whatever thing Jehovah will answer you*, I will declare it to you*. I will keep nothing back from you*.
⁵ Then they said to Jeremiah, Jehovah be a true and faithful witness among us, if we do not according to all the word with which Jehovah your God will send you to us. ⁶ Whether it is good, or whether it is evil, we will obey the voice of Jehovah our God, to whom we send you, that it may be well with us when we obey the voice of Jehovah our God.

³ Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face. Should I be inquired of at all by them?

¹ And it happened in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of Jehovah and sat before me. ² And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ³ Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel and say to them, The lord Jehovah says thus: Is it to inquire of me that you* have come? As I live, says the lord Jehovah, I will not be inquired of by you*.

¹⁹ Now therefore send and gather to me all Israel to Mount Carmel and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty and the prophets of the Asherah four hundred, who eat at Jezebel's table.

¹⁵ And when he came to the king, the king said to him, Micaiah, will we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or will we forbear? And he answered him, Go up and prosper and Jehovah will deliver it into the hand of the king.

²² And Jehovah said to him, With what? And he said, I will go forth and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You will entice him and will also prevail. Go forth and do so. ²³ Now therefore, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets and Jehovah has spoken evil concerning you.

¹⁴ And when he came to the king, the king said to him, Micaiah, will we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go up and prosper and they will be delivered into your* hand.

³¹ The prophets prophesy falsely and the priests bear rule by their means. And my people love to have it so. And what will you* do in the end of it?

¹⁰ Therefore I will give their wives to others and their fields to those who will possess them. For everyone from the least even to the greatest is given to covetousness. From the prophet even to the priest everyone deals falsely. ¹¹ And they have lightly healed the hurt of the daughter of my people, saying, Peace, peace, when there is no peace.

¹³ Then I said, Ah, lord Jehovah! Behold, the prophets say to them, You* will not see the sword, nor will you* have famine, but I will give you* assured peace in this place.
¹⁴ Then Jehovah said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name. I did not send them, nor have I commanded them, nor did I speak to them. They prophesy to you* a lying vision and divination and a thing of nothing and the deceit of their own heart.

¹⁴ In the prophets of Jerusalem also I have seen a horrible thing. They commit adultery and walk in lies. And they strengthen the hands of evildoers, so that none returns from his wickedness. They have all of them become to me as Sodom and the inhabitants of it as Gomorrah.
¹⁵ Therefore Jehovah of hosts says thus concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood and make them drink the water of gall. For from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone forth into all the land.
¹⁶ Jehovah of hosts says thus: Listen not to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you*. They teach you* vanity. They speak a vision of their own heart and not out of the mouth of Jehovah. ¹⁷ They say continually to those who despise me, Jehovah has said, You* will have peace. And to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil will come upon you*.

¹ And it happened the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azzur, the prophet, who was of Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of Jehovah, in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying, ² Thus speaks Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
³ Within two full years I will bring again into this place all the vessels of Jehovah's house that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon. ⁴ And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah, who went to Babylon, says Jehovah, for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.
⁵ Then the prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests and in the presence of all the people who stood in the house of Jehovah, ⁶ even the prophet Jeremiah said, Truly! Jehovah do so. Jehovah perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring again the vessels of Jehovah's house and all those of the captivity, from Babylon to this place.
⁷ Nevertheless hear now this word that I speak in your ears and in the ears of all the people: ⁸ The prophets who have been before me and before you of old prophesied against many countries and against great kingdoms, of war and of evil and of pestilence. ⁹ The prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet will happen, then the prophet will be known that Jehovah has truly sent him.

⁷ Have you* not seen a false vision and have you* not spoken a lying divination, in that you* say, Jehovah says, But I have not spoken?
⁸ Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Because you* have spoken falsehood and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you*, says the lord Jehovah. ⁹ And my hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who divine lies. They will not be in the council of my people, nor will they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither will they enter into the land of Israel.
And you* will know that I am the lord Jehovah.
¹⁰ Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace and there is no peace and when a man builds up a wall, behold, they daub it with untempered mortar, ¹¹ say to those who daub it with untempered mortar, that it will fall.
There will be an overflowing shower and you*, O great hailstones, will fall and a stormy wind will tear it. ¹² Behold, when the wall has fallen, will it not be said to you*, Where is the daubing with which you* have daubed it?
¹³ Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: I will even tear it with a stormy wind in my wrath and there will be an overflowing shower in my anger and great hailstones in wrath to consume it.
¹⁴ So I will break down the wall that you* have daubed with untempered mortar and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation of it will be uncovered. And it will fall and you* will be consumed in the midst of it.
And you* will know that I am Jehovah.
¹⁵ Thus I will accomplish my wrath upon the wall and upon those who have daubed it with untempered mortar. And I will say to you*, The wall is no more, nor those who daubed it, ¹⁶ namely, the prophets of Israel who prophesy concerning Jerusalem and who see visions of peace for her and there is no peace, says the lord Jehovah.

²² Because with lies you* have grieved the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way and be saved alive.

¹⁵ But take-heed, stay away from false prophets, who are coming to you in sheep’s clothing, but inside are ravenous wolves.

³ For the time will be coming when they will not be tolerating the sound teaching, but having itchy ears, they will be piling up for themselves teachers according to their own lusts;

¹ But false prophets happened to be also among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will be smuggling in sects of destruction, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing quick destruction upon themselves. ² And many will be following their unbridled-lusts, because of whom the way of the truth will be blasphemed. \ulnone\nosupersub ³ And in their greed, they will be merchants of you with fabricated words; to whom the condemnation from long-ago is not idle, and their destruction will not be slumbering.

²⁰ And the beast was clutched and with him the false prophet who made the signs in his sight, in which he misled those who had received the mark of the beast and those who are worshiping his image. The two were cast while living into the lake of fire which is burning in brimstone.

¹¹ But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah, that we may inquire of Jehovah by him? And one of the King of Israel's servants answered and said, Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah. ¹² And Jehoshaphat said, The word of Jehovah is with him. So the King of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
¹³ And Elisha said to the King of Israel, What have I to do with you? You get to the prophets of your father and to the prophets of your mother. And the King of Israel said to him, No, for Jehovah has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

⁶ But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we may inquire of him? ⁷ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah, but I hate him. For he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil; the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Do not let the king say so.

⁸ And his brothers said to him, Shall you indeed reign over us? Or will you indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams and for his words.

⁴ for it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of Jehovah, that Obadiah took a hundred prophets and hid them by fifties in a cave and fed them with bread and water.)

¹⁰ And he said, I have been very jealous for Jehovah, the God of hosts. For the sons of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars and slain your prophets with the sword. And I, even I only, am left and they seek my life, to take it away.

And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him and killed him.
³⁷ Then he found another man and said, Strike me, I beseech you. And the man killed* him, slaying and wounding him. ³⁸ So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way and disguised himself with his headband over his eyes.
³⁹ And as the king passed by, he cried out to the king and he said, Your servant went out into the midst of the battle, and behold, a man turned aside and brought a man to me and said, Keep this man. If by any means he is missing, then will your life be for his life, or else you will pay a talant of silver. ⁴⁰ And as your servant was busy here and there, he had gone. And the King of Israel said to him, So will your judgment be, yourself have decided it.
⁴¹ And he hastened and took the headband away from his eyes and the King of Israel discerned him that he was of the prophets. ⁴² And he said to him, Jehovah says thus, Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life will go for his life and your people for his people. ⁴³ And the King of Israel went to his house heavy and displeased and came to Samaria.

²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, Have you found me, O my enemy? And he answered, I have found you because you have sold yourself to do what is evil in the sight of Jehovah.

²⁷ And it happened, when Ahab heard those words, that he tore his clothes and put sackcloth upon his flesh and fasted and lay in sackcloth and went softly. ²⁸ And the word of Jehovah came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, ²⁹ You see how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days, but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.

¹³ And the messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. I beseech you, let your word be like the word of one of them and speak good.

²⁷ and say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction until I come in peace.

²² And it happened, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the prostitutions of your mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God and despised his words and scoffed at his prophets, until the wrath of Jehovah arose against his people, till there was no remedy.

²¹ Evil will kill the wicked and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.

¹² and say, How I have hated instruction and my heart despised reproof. ¹³ Neither have I obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me! ¹⁴ I was almost in all evil in the midst of the assembly and congregation.

⁸ Reprove not a scoffer, lest he hate you.
Reprove a wise man and he will love you.

¹² A scoffer does not like to be reproved. He will not go to the wise.

¹¹ Woe to the wicked! It is ill with him, for what his hands have done will be done to him.

¹⁰ who say to the seers, Do not see and to the prophets, Do not prophesy to us right things. Speak to us smooth things. Prophesy deceits.

⁷ Jehovah says thus, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despises, to him whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers. Kings will see and arise, rulers and they will worship, because of Jehovah who is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.

¹⁹ I create the fruit of the lips. Peace, peace, to him who is far off and to him who is near, says Jehovah and I will heal him.
²⁰ But the wicked are like the troubled sea, for it cannot rest and its waters cast up mud and dirt. ²¹ There is no peace, says my God, to the wicked.

¹⁸ Then they said, Come and let us devise devices against Jeremiah. For the law will not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us kill* him with the tongue and let us not give heed to any of his words.

¹⁰ For I have heard the defaming of many, terror on every side. Denounce and we will denounce him, say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall. Perhaps he will be persuaded and we will prevail against him and we will take our revenge on him.

⁴ Then the rulers said to the king, Please let this man be put to death, inasmuch as he weakens the hands of the men of war who remain in this city and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words to them. For this man seeks not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.

³ But Baruch the son of Neriah set upon you against us, to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they may put us to death and carry us away captive to Babylon.
⁴ So Johanan the son of Kareah and all the captains of the forces and all the people, did not obey the voice of Jehovah, to dwell in the land of Judah.

¹⁰ They hate he who reproves in the gate and they abhor he who speaks uprightly.

⁷ Will it be said, O house of Jacob, Is the Spirit of Jehovah restricted? Are these his practices? Do not my words do good to him who walks uprightly?

¹¹ If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies, saying, I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink, he will even be the prophet of this people.

⁸ And I cut off the three shepherds in one month, for my soul was weary of them and their soul also loathed me.

²² And you will be hated by all men because of my name. But he who has endured to the end, this one will be saved.

¹⁹ Now this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil. ²⁰ For everyone who is practicing evil, hates the light, and is not coming to the light, in order that his works should not convict him. ²¹ But he who practices the truth comes to the light, in order that his works should be manifest, that they have been worked in God.

⁷ The world is not able to hate you, but it hates me, because I am testifying concerning it, that its works are evil.

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me first, then you. ¹⁹ If you were from the world, the world would love its own, but because you are not from the world, but I chose you out of the world, the world is hating you because of this.

¹⁴ I have given them your word, and the world hated them, because they are not from the world, just-as I am not from the world.

¹⁶ So-then have I become your enemy, telling the truth to you?

⁷ And whenever they completed their testimony, the beast which is ascending out of the abyss, will make war with them and overcome them and kill them. ⁸ And the corpse s of them lay in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. ⁹ And some from among the peoples and tribes and languages and nations look upon their corpses three and a half days and they will not allow their corpses to be laid in a tomb. ¹⁰ And those who are dwelling upon the earth rejoice over them and will be joyous, and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell upon the earth.

²⁶ And the King of Israel said, Take Micaiah and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king's son, ²⁷ and say, Thus says the king, Put this fellow in the prison and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction until I come in peace.

³² And he lifted up his face to the window and said, Who is on my side? Who? And two or three eunuchs looked out to him.

⁸ Then the King of Israel called an officer and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.

⁷ And of your sons who will go forth from you, whom you will beget, they will take away and they will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.

¹⁸ And at the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the ruler of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

²⁹ And it was so, when midday was past, that they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening oblation, but there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.

⁶ Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men and said to them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.

³⁰ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself and go into the battle, but put on your robes. And the King of Israel disguised himself and went into the battle.

⁹ Now the King of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah each sat on his throne, arrayed in their robes. And they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
¹⁰ And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for him horns of iron and said, Jehovah says thus, With these you will push the Syrians until they are consumed. ¹¹ And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead and prosper. For Jehovah will deliver it into the hand of the king.

¹ Now it happened on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel and stood in the inner court of the king's house, opposite the king's house. And the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, opposite the entrance of the house.

⁸ let royal apparel be brought which the king uses to wear and the horse that the king rides upon and on the head of which a royal crown is set. ⁹ And let the apparel and the horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble rulers, that they may array the man whom the king delights to honor and cause him to ride on horseback through the street of the city and proclaim before him, Thus it will be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.

¹⁴ And listen not to the words of the prophets who speak to you*, saying, You* will not serve the king of Babylon, for they prophesy a lie to you*. ¹⁵ For I have not sent them, says Jehovah, but they prophesy falsely in my name, that I may drive you* out and that you* may perish, you* and the prophets who prophesy to you*.
¹⁶ Also I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, Jehovah says thus: Listen not to the words of your* prophets who prophesy to you*, saying, Behold, the vessels of Jehovah's house will now shortly be brought again from Babylon, for they prophesy a lie to you*.

¹ And the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, ² Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy and you say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, Hear the word of Jehovah.
³ The lord Jehovah says thus: Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! ⁴ O Israel, your prophets have been like foxes in the waste places.
⁵ You* have not gone up into the gaps, nor built up the wall for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of Jehovah. ⁶ They have seen falsehood and lying divination, who say, Jehovah says, but Jehovah has not sent them. And they have made men to hope that the word would be confirmed. ⁷ Have you* not seen a false vision and have you* not spoken a lying divination, in that you* say, Jehovah says, But I have not spoken?
⁸ Therefore thus says the lord Jehovah: Because you* have spoken falsehood and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you*, says the lord Jehovah. ⁹ And my hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and who divine lies. They will not be in the council of my people, nor will they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither will they enter into the land of Israel.
And you* will know that I am the lord Jehovah.

²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust ingest, and where thieves do not burrow through or steal.

⁸ But what did you go out to see? A man who has been dressed-up in soft garments? Behold, those who are wearing soft garments are in royal houses.

²¹ Now on an appointed day, Herod dressed himself in royal apparel, and having sat upon the judicial-seat, he was publicly addressing them.

²³ Therefore on the next-day, Agrippa and Bernice came with much pomp, and entered into the auditorium together with both, the commanders and men according to prominence, who are from the city, and when Festus commanded, Paul was led before him.

¹⁷ The first-offspring of his herd, majesty is his. And his horns are the horns of the wild-ox. With them he will push the peoples, all of them, even the ends of the earth. And they are the ten thousands of Ephraim and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

¹⁷ They say continually to those who despise me, Jehovah has said, You* will have peace. And to everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil will come upon you*.

²⁵ I have heard what the prophets have said, who prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

³¹ Behold, I am against the prophets, says Jehovah, who use their tongues and say, He says.

² Jehovah says thus to me: You make bonds and bars and put them upon your neck.

² Thus speaks Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
³ Within two full years I will bring again into this place all the vessels of Jehovah's house that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.

¹⁰ Then Hananiah the prophet took the bar from the prophet Jeremiah's neck and broke it. ¹¹ And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, Jehovah says thus: Even so I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon within two full years from the neck of all the nations. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
¹² Then the word of Jehovah came to Jeremiah after Hananiah the prophet had broken the bar from the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying, ¹³ Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Jehovah says thus: You have broken the bars of wood, but I have made in their stead bars of iron. ¹⁴ For Jehovah of hosts says thus, the God of Israel: I have put a yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and they will serve him. And I have given him the beasts of the field also.

²¹ Jehovah of hosts says thus, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you* in my name. Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and he will kill them before your* eyes.

²⁷ Her rulers in the midst of it are like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood, to destroy souls, that they may get dishonest gain.
²⁸ And her prophets have daubed with untempered mortar for them, seeing false visions and divining lies to them, saying, The lord Jehovah says thus, when Jehovah has not spoken.

¹¹ The heads of it judge for a bribe and the priests of it teach for a wage and the prophets of it divine for money.
Yet they lean upon Jehovah and say, Is not Jehovah in the midst of us? No evil will come upon us.

¹⁸ And I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, four horns. ¹⁹ And I said to the messenger who talked with me, What are these? And he answered me, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem.
²⁰ And Jehovah showed me four smiths. ²¹ Then I said, What are these coming to do? And he spoke, saying, These are the horns which scattered Judah, so that no man lifted up his head. But these have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations, which lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.

¹³ But also, some exorcists from the strolling Jews undertook the task to name the name of the Lord Jesus upon those who had the evil spirits, saying, We implore you on the Jesus whom Paul is preaching. ¹⁴ Now there were some (seven sons of Sceva) and a Jew, a high-priest, who were doing this.
¹⁵ But the evil spirit having answered, said to them, I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you? ¹⁶ And the man in whom the evil spirit was, leaping upon them and having mastered, prevailed against them, so-that they fled out of that house, naked and traumatized.

¹³ For such men are false apostles, workers of treachery, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ And it is not a marvelous thing; for even the Adversary fashions himself into a messenger of light. ¹⁵ Therefore, it is no great thing if his servants are also fashioned like servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

⁸ Now in the manner that Jannes and Jambres stood against Moses so also, are these standing against the truth. Men having been utterly corrupted in their mind, unapproved concerning the faith.

³² And it happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the King of Israel and they turned aside to fight against him. And Jehoshaphat cried out. ³³ And it happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the King of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.
³⁴ And a certain man drew his bow at a venture and killed* the King of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, Turn your hand and carry me out of the army, for I am severely wounded. ³⁵ And the battle increased that day. And the king was propped up in his chariot against the Syrians. And he died at evening and the blood ran out of the wound into the bottom of the chariot.
³⁶ And there went a cry throughout the army about the going down of the sun, saying, Every man to his city and every man to his country.

²² Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, but disguised himself that he might fight with him. And he did not listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo.

¹¹ He says in his heart, God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it.

¹ I take refuge in Jehovah. How will you* say to my soul, Flee like a bird to your* mountain.

¹ The fool has said in his heart, There is no God.
They are corrupt. They have done abominable works. There is none that does good.

²¹ These things you have done and I kept silence. You thought that I was altogether such a one as yourself. But I will reprove you and set them in order before your eyes.

¹⁰ who say to the seers, Do not see and to the prophets, Do not prophesy to us right things. Speak to us smooth things. Prophesy deceits. ¹¹ You* get out of the way. Turn aside out of the path. Cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

³ They make the king glad with their wickedness and the rulers with their lies.

¹³ But do not prophesy again any more at Bethel, for it is the king's sanctuary and it is a royal house.
¹⁴ Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, nor was I a prophet's son, but I was a herdsman and a dresser of sycamore trees. ¹⁵ And Jehovah took me from following the flock and Jehovah said to me, Go, prophesy to my people Israel.
¹⁶ Now therefore hear the word of Jehovah: You say, Do not prophesy against Israel and do not drop your word against the house of Isaac. ¹⁷ Therefore Jehovah says thus: Your wife will be a prostitute in the city and your sons and your daughters will fall by the sword and your land will be divided by line and you yourself will die in a land that is unclean. And Israel will surely be led away captive out of his land.

⁶ Prophesy you* not, they prophesy. They will not prophesy to these, so reproaches will not depart. ⁷ Will it be said, O house of Jacob, Is the Spirit of Jehovah restricted? Are these his practices? Do not my words do good to him who walks uprightly?

¹⁴ Now the physical man is not accepting the things from the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to know them, because they are spiritually examined. ¹⁵ But the spiritual one is indeed examining all things, but he himself is examined by no one. ¹⁶ For who has known the mind of the Lord, who will be lecturing him? But we have the mind of Christ.

¹⁸ And Balaam answered and said to the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of Jehovah my God, to do less or more.

³⁸ And Balaam said to Balak, Behold, I have come to you. Have I now any power at all to speak anything? The word that God puts in my mouth, that shall I speak.

¹³ If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of Jehovah, to do either good or bad of my own mind. What Jehovah speaks, that I will speak?

¹⁰ As Jehovah your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek you. And when they said, He is not here, he took an oath from the kingdom and nation that they did not find you.

¹⁵ And Elijah said, As Jehovah of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.

¹² And the messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets are good to the king with one mouth. Therefore, I beseech you, let your word be like one of theirs and speak good. ¹³ And Micaiah said, As Jehovah lives, what my God says, that will I speak.

²⁸ The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream. And he who has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat? says Jehovah.

² Jehovah says thus: Stand in the court of Jehovah's house and speak to all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in Jehovah's house, all the words that I command you to speak to them, diminish not a word.
³ It may be they will listen and turn every man from his evil way, that I may relent of the evil which I purpose to do to them because of the evil of their practices.

⁴ Then Jeremiah the prophet said to them, I have heard you*. Behold, I will pray to Jehovah your* God according to your* words and it will happen that whatever thing Jehovah will answer you*, I will declare it to you*. I will keep nothing back from you*.

⁴ And the sons are impudent and stiff hearted.
I send you to them and you will say to them, The Lord says thus Jehovah. ⁵ And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear (for they are a rebellious house), yet will know that there has been a prophet among them.
⁶ And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions. Do not be afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they are a rebellious house. ⁷ And you will speak my words to them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, for they are most rebellious. ⁸ But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house.
Open your mouth and eat what I give you.

¹⁷ Son of man, I have made you a watchman to the house of Israel. Therefore hear the word at my mouth and give them warning from me.
¹⁸ When I say to a wicked man, You will surely die and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked man from his wicked way, to save his life, the same wicked man will die in his iniquity, but I will require his blood at your hand.
¹⁹ Yet if you warn the wicked man and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul.

²⁶ because I testify to you on this very day, that I am clean from the blood of all men. ²⁷ For I did not retreat back from proclaiming to you the whole plan of God.

¹⁷ For we are not as the rest who are peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, in God’s sight, we speak in Christ.

² But we ourselves have scoffed at the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of the truth, commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in God’s sight.

¹⁰ For am I now persuading men or God? Or am I seeking to please men? For if I was still pleasing men, I myself would not be a bondservant of Christ.

¹⁴ Go and cry to the gods which you* have chosen. Let them save you* in the time of your* distress.

²⁷ And it happened at noon, that Elijah mocked them and said, Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is meditating, or he has gone aside, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he sleeps and must be awakened.

¹³ And Elisha said to the King of Israel, What have I to do with you? You get to the prophets of your father and to the prophets of your mother. And the King of Israel said to him, No, for Jehovah has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

⁹ Rejoice, O young man, in your youth and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth and walk in the ways of your heart and in the sight of your eyes. But know, that upon all these things God will bring you into judgment.

⁴⁵ Then he comes to his disciples and says to them, Furthermore, are you sleeping and resting yourselves? Behold, the hour has drawn near, and the Son of Man is given up into the hands of sinners.

²⁶ And Joshua charged them with an oath at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before Jehovah who rises up and builds this city Jericho. With the loss of his firstborn he will lay the foundation of it and with the loss of his youngest son he will set up the gates of it.

²⁴ And the men of Israel were distressed that day, for Saul had put the people under an oath, saying, Cursed be the man who eats any food until it is evening and I am avenged on my enemies. So none of the people tasted food.

¹⁵ And the king said to him, How many times shall I make you swear that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of Jehovah?

¹⁶ And they send their disciples to him, with the Herodians, saying, Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God in truth, and do not care concerning anyone’s appearance; for you do not look at the countenance of men. ¹⁷ Therefore tell us, What do you think? Is it legal to give tribute to Caesar or not?

⁶³ But Jesus was silent. And the high-priest answered and said to him, I implore you by the living God, in order that you should tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God?

⁷ and crying out with a loud voice, he said, What is this thing with me and with you, Jesus, Son of the Highest God? I am imploring you by God, do^\'b0 not torment me.

¹³ But also, some exorcists from the strolling Jews undertook the task to name the name of the Lord Jesus upon those who had the evil spirits, saying, We implore you on the Jesus whom Paul is preaching.

¹⁷ who may go out before them and who may come in before them and who may lead them out and who may bring them in, that the congregation of Jehovah is not as sheep which have no shepherd.

⁹ (Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he said, Come and let us go to the seer, for he who is now called a Prophet was formerly called a Seer.)

¹⁶ And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And Jehovah said, These have no master. Let them return every man to his house in peace. ¹⁷ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?

¹¹ Moreover the word of Jehovah came to me, saying, Jeremiah, what do you see? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree. ¹² Then Jehovah said to me, You have well seen. For I watch over my word to perform it.
¹³ And the word of Jehovah came to me the second time, saying, What do you see? And I said, I see a boiling caldron and the face of it is from the north. ¹⁴ Then Jehovah said to me, Out of the north evil will break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
¹⁵ For behold, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, says Jehovah. And they will come and they will set every one his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem and against all the walls of it all around and against all the cities of Judah.
¹⁶ And I will utter my judgments against them concerning all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me and have burned incense to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.

¹ Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! says Jehovah. ² Therefore Jehovah says thus, the God of Israel, against the shepherds who feed my people: You* have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not visited them. Behold, I will visit upon you* the evil of your* practices, says Jehovah.

⁶ My people have been lost sheep. Their shepherds have made them go-astray. They have turned them away on the mountains. They have gone from mountain to hill. They have forgotten their resting-place.

¹⁷ Israel is a hunted sheep, the lions have driven him away. First, the king of Assyria devoured him and now at last Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones.

⁴ And I looked, and behold, a stormy wind came out of the north, a great cloud, with a fire enfolding itself and a brightness all around it and out of the midst of it, as it were glowing metal, out of the midst of the fire.

⁴ You* have not strengthened the diseased, nor have you* healed what was sick, nor have you* bound up what was broken, nor have you* brought back what was driven away, nor have you* sought what was lost, but you* have ruled over them with force and with rigor.
⁵ And they were scattered because there was no shepherd. And they became food to all the beasts of the field and were scattered. ⁶ My sheep wandered through all the mountains and upon every high hill. Yes, my sheep were scattered upon all the face of the earth and there was none who searched or sought.

² For the household-idol have spoken vanity and the diviners have seen a lie and they have told false dreams. They comfort in vain. Therefore they go their way like sheep. They are afflicted, because there is no shepherd.

⁷ Awake, O sword, against my shepherd and against the man who is my companion, says Jehovah of hosts. Strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered. And I will turn my hand upon the little ones.

³⁶ But when he saw the crowds, he had compassion concerning them, because they were fainting in spirit and were being tossed about, like sheep not having a shepherd.

¹¹ And he views the heaven having opened and a certain vessel coming down, like a great sheet having been bound and being dropped down by four edges upon the earth; ¹² in which were all kinds of four footed mammals and beasts and reptiles of the earth and birds of the heaven. ¹³ And there came a voice to him, Sacrifice and eat when you stand up Peter.
¹⁴ But Peter said, Not-so, Lord, because I have never eaten anything, common or unclean.
¹⁵ And a voice came to him again the second-time, What God has cleansed, you, do not make common. ¹⁶ But this happened three-times and again the vessel was received up into heaven.
¹⁷ Now as Peter was perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might be. And behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood at the gate,

⁸ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Do not let the king say so.

²⁴ The fear of a wicked man will come upon him. And the desire of the righteous will be granted.

²² Though you should pound a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, yet his foolishness will not depart from him.

¹ He who, being often reproved, hardens his neck will suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy.

⁴⁵ Now someone from the professors of the law, answered and says to him, Teacher, you are also insulting us in saying these things.

¹⁸ And Micaiah said, Therefore hear the word of Jehovah. I saw Jehovah sitting upon his throne and all the host of heaven standing at his right hand and at his left. ¹⁹ And Jehovah said, Who will entice Ahab King of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spoke saying after this manner and another saying after that manner.
²⁰ And there came out a spirit and stood before Jehovah and said, I will entice him. And Jehovah said to him, With what? ²¹ And he said, I will go forth and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You will entice him and will also prevail. Go forth and do so.
²² Now therefore, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets. And Jehovah has spoken evil concerning you.

⁶ Now it happened on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, that Satan also came among them.

²⁰ Praise Jehovah, you* his messengers, who are mighty in strength, who fulfill his word, listening to the voice of his word.
²¹ Praise Jehovah, all you* his hosts, you* ministers of his, who do his pleasure.

¹⁰ Hear the word of Jehovah, you* rulers of Sodom, listen to the law of our God, you* people of Gomorrah.

¹ In the year that king Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up and his train filled the temple. ² Above him stood the seraphim. Each one had six wings, with two he covered his face and with two he covered his feet and with two he flew.
³ And one cried to another and said, Holy, holy, holy, is Jehovah of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory.

¹⁴ Therefore hear the word of Jehovah, you* scoffers, who rule this people that is in Jerusalem.

⁴ Hear the word of Jehovah, O house of Jacob and all the families of the house of Israel.

²⁰ Hear therefore the word of Jehovah, all you* of the captivity whom I have sent away from Jerusalem to Babylon.

¹⁵ Now therefore hear the word of Jehovah, O remnant of Judah. Jehovah of hosts says thus, the God of Israel: If you* indeed set your* faces to enter into Egypt and go to journey there,

²⁶ And above the expanse that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone. And upon the likeness of the throne was a likeness as the appearance of a man upon it above.
²⁷ And I saw as it were glowing metal, as the appearance of fire within it all around, from the appearance of his loins and upward. And from the appearance of his loins and downward I saw as it were the appearance of fire. And there was brightness all around him.
²⁸ As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness all around. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Jehovah. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face and I heard a voice speaking.

² Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who prophesy and you say to those who prophesy out of their own heart, Hear the word of Jehovah.

⁹ I beheld till thrones were placed and one who was ancient of days sat. His garments was white as snow and the hair of his head like pure wool. His throne was fiery flames and the wheels of it burning fire. ¹⁰ A fiery stream was streaming and came out from before him. Thousands of thousands ministered to him and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him. The judgment was set and the books were opened.

¹⁶ Now therefore hear the word of Jehovah: You say, Do not prophesy against Israel and do not drop your word against the house of Isaac.

¹⁰ And the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom Jehovah has sent to walk to and fro through the earth.

¹⁰ See that you do not despise one of these little ones; for I say to you, that in the heavens their messengers are always looking at the face of my Father who is in the heavens.

³¹ But whenever the Son of Man comes in his glory and all the holy messengers with him. Then he will be sitting upon the throne of his glory;

⁵⁵ But possessing the full ness of the Holy Spirit, he stared into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, ⁵⁶ and said, Behold, I am viewing the heavens that have been opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.

⁷ And he indeed says toward the messengers, ‘Who makes his messengers, spirits, and his ministers, a flame of fire.’

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, being sent forth into service because of those who are about to inherit salvation?

²² But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, to the heavenly Jerusalem, and to tens of thousands of messengers,

² And immediately I became in the spirit and behold, a throne was placed in heaven, and sitting upon the throne ³ was one similar in appearance to a jasper stone and a carnelian and there was a rainbow surrounding the throne, similar in appearance to an emerald.

¹¹ And I saw and I heard a voice like that of many messengers in circle of the throne and the living creatures and the elders, tens of thousands of tens of thousands;

¹⁶ With him is strength and wisdom. The deceived and the deceiver are his.

¹⁰ Then I said, Ah, lord Jehovah! Surely you have utterly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, You* will have peace, but the sword reaches to the life.

⁹ And if the prophet is deceived and speaks a word, I, Jehovah, have deceived that prophet. And I will stretch out my hand upon him and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

²³ Now therefore, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets and Jehovah has spoken evil concerning you.

⁶ Now it happened on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before Jehovah, that Satan also came among them. ⁷ And Jehovah said to Satan, From where do you come? Then Satan answered Jehovah and said, From going to and fro on the earth and from walking up and down on it.

²³ And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech,

¹⁴ Now the Spirit of Jehovah departed from Saul and an evil spirit from Jehovah troubled him.

¹⁰ And it happened on the morrow, that an evil spirit from God came mightily upon Saul and he prophesied in the midst of the house. And David played with his hand, as he did day by day and Saul had his spear in his hand.

⁹ And an evil spirit from Jehovah was upon Saul as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand and David was playing with his hand.

²⁰ And Jehovah said, Who will entice Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner and another said on that manner.

⁸ And Jehovah said to Satan, Have you considered my servant Job? For there is none like him on the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one who fears God and turns away from evil. ⁹ Then Satan answered Jehovah and said, Does Job fear God for nothing? ¹⁰ Have you not made a hedge on every side on behalf of him and his house and all that he has? You have blessed the work of his hands and his substance is increased in the land. ¹¹ But put forth your hand now and touch all that he has and he will renounce you to your face.

⁴ And Satan answered Jehovah and said, Skin for skin, yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. ⁵ But put forth your hand now and touch his bone and his flesh and he will renounce you to your face. ⁶ And Jehovah said to Satan, Behold, he is in your hand, only spare his life.

¹⁷ Yes, he loved cursing and it came to him. And he did not delight in blessing and it was far from him.

⁴⁴ You are from your father, the devil, and you to do the lusts of your father. That one was a murderer from the beginning and is not standing in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own things, because he is a liar and the father of it.

³ But Peter said, Ananias, why has the Adversary filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to pilfer part of the price of the parcel of ground? ⁴ When it remained unsold, was it not remaining yours? And when it was sold, was it not still in your authority? Why did you purpose this matter in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God.

⁹ even he, whose presence is according to the working of the Adversary in every power and in signs and in lying wonders, ¹⁰ and in all deception of unrighteousness in those who are perishing, because they did not accept the love of the truth, that they might be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God will be sending them a working of error, that they may believe in the lie; ¹² in order that they all might be judged who did not believe the truth, but were delighted in unrighteousness.

¹ But the Spirit expressly says, In later times some will be withdrawing from the faith, taking-heed to misleading spirits and teachings of demons,

⁶ We are from God. He who knows God, hears us; he who is not from God does not hear us. We know from this, the spirit of the truth and the spirit of the deceit.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast down, the ancient serpent, who is called the devil and the Adversary, the one who is misleading the whole inhabited-earth; he was cast down to the earth and his messengers were cast down with him. ¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ has become, because the accuser of our brethren has been cast down, who accuses them in the sight of our God day and night.

¹⁴ And the one who is misleading those of mine who are dwelling upon the earth because of the signs which was given to him to do in the sight of the beast, saying to those who dwell upon the earth to make an image to the beast, who was holding the wound of death from the sword and lived.

¹³ And I saw out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs; ¹⁴ for they are spirits of demons, doing signs; which travel out to the kings of the whole inhabited-earth, to gather them together to the war of that great day of God the Almighty.

¹⁷ For God gave to their hearts to do his intention and to do it with one intention and to give their kingdom to the beast, till the words of God should be completed.

³ and cast him into the abyss and locked it and sealed it above him, in order that he may not mislead the nations anymore, till the thousand years might be completed. It is essential for him to be loosed for a little time after these things.

⁷ And whenever the thousand years might be completed, the Adversary will be loosed out of his prison,

¹⁰ And the devil who is misleading them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also, and they will be tormented day and night forevermore.

²¹ And Jehovah said to Moses, When you go back into Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your hand, but I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.

²⁰ But Jehovah hardened Pharaoh's heart and he did not let the sons of Israel go.

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said and will he not do it? Or has he spoken and will he not make it good? ²⁰ Behold, I have received to bless. And he has blessed and I cannot reverse it.

³⁰ But Sihon King of Heshbon would not let us pass by him, for Jehovah your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into your hand, as at this day.

⁴² And he said to him, Jehovah says thus, Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life will go for his life and your people for his people.

¹⁹ And you will speak to him, saying, Jehovah says thus, Have you killed and also taken possession? And you will speak to him, saying, Jehovah says thus, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth will dogs lick your blood, even your.

⁸ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Do not let the king say so.
⁹ Then the King of Israel called an officer and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imlah. ¹⁰ Now the King of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria. And all the prophets were prophesying before them.
¹¹ And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for him horns of iron and said, Jehovah says thus, With these you will push the Syrians until they are consumed.

¹⁶ And it happened, as he talked with him, that the king said to him, Have we made you of the king's counsel? Cease. Why should you be struck? Then the prophet ceased and said, I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.

⁹ And he said, Go and tell this people, Hear indeed, but do not understand and see you* indeed, but do not perceive. ¹⁰ Make the heart of this people fat and make their ears heavy and shut their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn and be healed.

²⁰ He feeds on ashes. A deceived heart has turned him aside. And he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

³ Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their heart and put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their face. Should I be inquired of at all by them?
⁴ Therefore speak to them and say to them, The lord Jehovah says thus: Every man of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face and comes to the prophet, I Jehovah will answer him in it according to the multitude of his idols, ⁵ that I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

¹³ Because of this, I speak to them in parables, because seeing, they do not see, and hearing, they do not hear, nor do they understand. ¹⁴ And the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled in them, which says, ‘In hearing you will hear and may never understand, and seeing you will see and may never know; ¹⁵ for the heart of this people has become-callous and they have selectively heard with the ears and they have closed their eyes; lest they should see with their eyes and should hear with their ears and should understand with their heart and should turn again and I will be healing them.’

²⁴ For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will be giving great signs and wonders; so-then to mislead, if possible, even the chosen. ²⁵ Behold, I have spoken to you beforehand.

¹¹ And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for him horns of iron and said, Jehovah says thus, With these you will push the Syrians until they are consumed.

²³ Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and killed* Micaiah upon the cheek and said, Which way did the Spirit of Jehovah go from me to speak to you? ²⁴ And Micaiah said, Behold, you will see on that day when you will go into an inner chamber to hide yourself.

⁵ The lord Jehovah has opened my ear and I was not rebellious, nor turned away backward. ⁶ I gave my back to the strikers and my cheeks to those who plucked off the hair. I did not hide my face from shame and spitting.

¹⁰ Then Hananiah the prophet took the bar from the prophet Jeremiah's neck and broke it. ¹¹ And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, Jehovah says thus: Even so I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon within two full years from the neck of all the nations. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.

²⁶ Jehovah has made you priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Jehovah, for every man who is mad and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles. ²⁷ Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth, who makes himself a prophet to you*,

³⁰ Let him give his cheek to him who slays him. Let him be filled full with reproach.

¹ Now you will gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops. He has laid siege against us. They will kill* the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

³⁹ But I am saying to you, Not to stand against an evil man, but who ever slaps you upon your right jaw, turn also the other to him.

⁶⁸ saying, Prophesy to us, you Christ. Who is he who struck you?

⁴² He saved others, yet he is not able to save himself. If he is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross and we will believe in him. ⁴³ He has confidence upon God. Let him rescue him now, if he is willing to save him; for he said, I am the Son of God.

⁶⁵ And some began to spit on him and to cover his face and to batter him, and to say to him, Prophesy! And the attendants were casting him around with slaps on the cheek.

¹⁹ And they were beating his head with a reed and were spitting on him, and placing the knees down, they were worshiping him.


²⁰ And when they had mocked him, they stripped the purple off him and clothed him with his own garments. And they lead him out in order that they should crucify him.

¹⁸ If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me first, then you.

²⁰ Remember the word which I said to you, A bondservant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also be persecuting you; if they kept my word, they will also be keeping yours.

² But the high-priest Ananias commanded to those who are standing beside him to beat his mouth.

⁸ And they killed the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi and Rekem and Zur and Hur and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam the son of Beor with the sword.

³⁰ But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city and the wall fell upon twenty-seven thousand men who were left. And Ben-hadad fled and came into the city, into an inner chamber.

¹⁴ Therefore Jehovah will cut off from Israel head and tail, palm-branch and rush, in one day. ¹⁵ The elder and the honorable man, he is the head. And the prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail. ¹⁶ For those who lead this people make them go-astray and those who are led by them are destroyed.

¹⁵ Therefore Jehovah of hosts says thus concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood and make them drink the water of gall. For from the prophets of Jerusalem ungodliness has gone forth into all the land.

¹⁶ Therefore Jehovah says thus, Behold, I will send you away from the face of the earth. This year you will die because you have spoken rebellion against Jehovah. ¹⁷ So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

²¹ Jehovah of hosts says thus, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah and concerning Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you* in my name. Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and he will kill them before your* eyes.
²² And of them will be taken up a curse by all the captives of Judah that are in Babylon, saying, Jehovah make you like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire,

³² therefore Jehovah says thus: Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his seed. He will not have a man to dwell among this people, nor will he behold the good that I will do to my people, says Jehovah, because he has spoken rebellion against Jehovah.

¹⁷ Therefore Jehovah says thus: Your wife will be a prostitute in the city and your sons and your daughters will fall by the sword and your land will be divided by line and you yourself will die in a land that is unclean. And Israel will surely be led away captive out of his land.

¹ But false prophets happened to be also among the people, as false teachers will also be among you, who will be smuggling in sects of destruction, denying even the Master who bought them, bringing quick destruction upon themselves.

³ You will eat no leavened bread with it. Seven days you will eat unleavened bread with it, even the bread of affliction, for you came forth out of the land of Egypt in haste, that you may remember the day when you came forth out of the land of Egypt all the days of your life.

¹⁰ Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in the prison-house. For he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.

⁵ You have fed them with the bread of tears and given them tears to drink in large measure.

⁹ Because I have eaten ashes like bread and mingled my drink with weeping,

² It is vain for you* to rise up early, to take rest late, to eat the bread of toil, for so he gives sleep to his beloved.

²⁰ And though the Lord give you* the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be hidden anymore, but your eyes will see your teachers.

² Then Pashhur killed* Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in the house of Jehovah.

²⁶ Jehovah has made you priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that there may be officers in the house of Jehovah, for every man who is mad and makes himself a prophet, that you should put him in the stocks and in shackles.

¹⁵ And the rulers were angry with Jeremiah and killed* him and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe, for they had made that the prison.

⁶ Then they took Jeremiah and cast him into the pit of Malchijah the king's son, that was in the court of the guard. And they let Jeremiah down with cords. And in the pit there was no water, but mud and Jeremiah sank in the mud.

⁵³ They have cut off my life in the pit and have cast a stone upon me. ⁵⁴ Waters flowed over my head. I said, I am cut off.
⁵⁵ I called upon your name, O Jehovah, out of the lowest pit.

¹⁷ For Herod himself had sent forth and took-hold of John and bound him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, because he had married her. ¹⁸ For John said to Herod, ‘It is not legal for you to have your brother’s wife.’ ¹⁹ But Herodias was holding it against him. And she was willing to kill him and was not able; ²⁰ for Herod feared John, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man, and was protecting him. And having heard him, he was doing many things, and was gladly hearing him, often.
²¹ And when it happened to be an opportune day, along with his birthday, when Herod made a supper to his great-men and the commanders, and the foremost men of Galilee; ²² and the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, and she pleased Herod and those who reclined at the meal together with him. And the king said to the girl, Ask me whatever you wish and I will be giving it to you. ²³ And he swore to her, Whatever you might ask me, I will be giving it to you, up to half of my kingdom.
²⁴ Now she went out and said to her mother, What shall I ask for?
Now she said, The head of John the Immerser.
²⁵ And she came in promptly to the king and diligently asked, saying, I wish that you might give me immediately the head of John the Immerser upon a platter.
²⁶ And the king became very sorrowful, but because of his oaths and those who reclined at the meal together with him, he did not wish to reject her. ²⁷ And immediately, the king sent forth an executioner and commanded his head to be brought. ²⁸ Now he went and beheaded him in the prison, and brought his head upon a platter and gave it to the girl, and the girl gave it to her mother.

²⁰ also added this to them all, and locked up John in the prison.

⁴⁵ But if that bondservant says in his heart, my lord delays his coming, and may begin to beat the young-servants and the maidservants, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; ⁴⁶ the lord of that bondservant will be coming in a day in which he is not expecting, and in an hour in which he does not know, and will be flogging him and will be placing his part with the unbelieving.

¹⁸ and they put their hands upon the apostles and placed them in the public jail.

²³ And having laid many lashes on them, they cast them into prison, after having commanded the jailor to securely guard them. ²⁴ Having received such a command, he cast them into the inner prison and secured their feet in the wood stocks.

²⁵ But while reasoning concerning righteousness and self-control and the future judgment which will be, Felix having become fearful, answered, Travel on now, and when I take the next opportunity, I myself will call you. ²⁶ (He was hoping at the same time that monies will be given to him by Paul, that he might loose him.) Hence, he sent for him frequently, and was conversing with him. ²⁷ But when two years were fulfilled, Felix received a successor, Porcius Festus, and wishing to lay up favors for himself with the Jews, Felix left Paul bound.

¹⁰ I also did this in Jerusalem, and I locked up many of the holy-ones in prisons, having received authority from the high-priests, and when they were assassinated, I brought my voting-pebble against them.

¹ Because of this, I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles,

² For you yourselves know accurately that the day of the Lord so comes like a thief in the night. ³ For whenever they are saying, Peace and security; then sudden utter-destruction stands by them, just-like the travail a woman has in her womb, and they may never flee away from it.

¹³ Come now, you who are saying, Today and the next-day, we should travel into this city and spend one year there and be a merchant and make a gain. ¹⁴ You do not know what the next-day will bring, for what is your life? For it will be a vapor, which appears for a few but thereafter also disappears.

¹⁰ Let no one fear the things which you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some from you into prison, in order that you may be tested and you will have affliction ten days. Become faithful to death and I will be giving you the crown of life.

²⁹ If these men die the common death of all men, or if they are visited after the visitation of all men, then Jehovah has not sent me.

²⁰ But the prophet, who will speak a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who will speak in the name of other gods, that same prophet will die.
²¹ And if you say in your heart, How will we know the word which Jehovah has not spoken? ²² When a prophet speaks in the name of Jehovah, if the thing does not follow, nor happen, that is the thing which Jehovah has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You will not be afraid of him.

²¹ And Elijah came near to all the people and said, How long do you* go limping between the two sides? If Jehovah be God, follow him, but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.
²² Then Elijah said to the people, I, even I only, am left a prophet of Jehovah, but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men. ²³ Let them therefore give us two bullocks and let them choose one bullock for themselves and cut it in pieces and lay it on the wood and put no fire under. And I will dress the other bullock and lay it on the wood and put no fire under.
²⁴ And call you* on the name of your* god and I will call on the name of Jehovah. And the God that answers by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

³⁶ And it happened at the time of the offering of the evening oblation, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, O Jehovah, the God of Abraham, of Isaac and of Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and that I have done all these things at your word. ³⁷ Hear me, O Jehovah, hear me, that this people may know that you, Jehovah, are God and that you have turned their heart back again.

¹⁰ And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty. And there came down fire from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.

²⁷ And Micaiah said, If you return at all in peace, Jehovah has not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, you* the peoples, all of you*.

²⁶ who confirms the word of his servant and performs the counsel of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem, She will be inhabited and of the cities of Judah, They will be built and I will raise up the waste places of it,

¹ Hear this word that Jehovah has spoken against you*, O sons of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up out of the land of Egypt, saying,

² Hear, you* peoples, all of you*. Listen, O earth and all who are in it and let the Lord Jehovah be witness against you*, the Lord from his holy temple.

¹⁴ And having called to him all the crowd again, he said to them, All, hear me and understand. ¹⁵ There is nothing outside the man, that traveling into him is able to desecrate him, but the things which travel out from him, those are the things which defile the man.

³⁷ Therefore David himself calls him Lord, and is he his son? From where? And the large crowd was gladly hearing him.

¹⁰ and said, O full of all treachery and all villainy, you son of the devil, enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? ¹¹ And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and will not see the sun till the next season. Now instantly dimness and darkness fell upon him, and going around, he was seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

² And it happened in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the King of Israel. ³ And the King of Israel said to his servants, Know that Ramoth-gilead is ours and we are still and do not take it out of the hand of the king of Syria? ⁴ And he said to Jehoshaphat, Will you go with me to battle to Ramoth-gilead? And Jehoshaphat said to the King of Israel, I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.
⁵ And Jehoshaphat said to the King of Israel, I beseech you, inquire first for the word of Jehovah. ⁶ Then the King of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men and said to them, Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king. ⁷ But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we may inquire of him? ⁸ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, there is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Jehovah, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Do not let the king say so.
⁹ Then the King of Israel called an officer and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imlah.

²⁸ So the King of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.

⁸ And Saul disguised himself and put on other garments and went, he and two men with him. And they came to the woman by night and he said, I beseech you, divine to me, by the familiar spirit and bring me up whomever I will name to you.

² And Joab sent to Tekoa and fetched from there a wise woman and said to her, I beseech you, pretend to be a mourner and put on mourning apparel, I beseech you and do not anoint yourself with oil, but be as a woman who has a long time mourned for the dead.

² And Jeroboam said to his wife, Arise, I beseech you and disguise yourself that you not be known to be the wife of Jeroboam and get you to Shiloh. Behold, there is Ahijah the prophet who spoke concerning me that I should be king over this people.

³⁸ So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way and disguised himself with his headband over his eyes.

¹⁰ Now the King of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria. And all the prophets were prophesying before them.

²⁹ And the King of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself and go into the battle, but put you on your robes. So the King of Israel disguised himself and they went into the battle.

² They speak falsehood everyone with his neighbor. They speak with a flattering lip and with a double heart.

³⁰ There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against Jehovah.

²⁴ Can any man hide himself in secret places so that I will not see him? says Jehovah. Do I not fill heaven and earth? says Jehovah.

¹¹ And they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves trying to find the door.

² and had taken captive the women and all that were in it, both small and great. They did not kill any, but carried them off and went their way.

¹ And Ben-hadad the king of Syria gathered all his army together. And there were thirty-two kings with him and horses and chariots. And he went up and besieged Samaria and fought against it.

¹⁶ And they went out at noon. But Ben-hadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty-two kings who helped him.

²⁴ And do this thing: Take the kings away, every man out of his place and put captains in their place.

³³ Now the men observed diligently whether anything would come from him. And they quickly caught it and they said, Your brother Ben-hadad. Then he said, Go you*, bring him. Then Ben-hadad came out to him and he caused him to come up into the chariot.
³⁴ And Ben-hadad said to him, The cities which my father took from your father I will restore and you will make streets for you in Damascus as my father made in Samaria. And I, said Ahab, will let you go with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him and let him go.
³⁵ And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said by the word of Jehovah to his fellow, Strike me, I beseech you. And the man refused to kill* him. ³⁶ Then said he to him, Because you have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah, behold, as soon as you have departed from me, a lion will kill you. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him and killed him.
³⁷ Then he found another man and said, Strike me, I beseech you. And the man killed* him, slaying and wounding him. ³⁸ So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way and disguised himself with his headband over his eyes.
³⁹ And as the king passed by, he cried out to the king and he said, Your servant went out into the midst of the battle, and behold, a man turned aside and brought a man to me and said, Keep this man. If by any means he is missing, then will your life be for his life, or else you will pay a talant of silver. ⁴⁰ And as your servant was busy here and there, he had gone. And the King of Israel said to him, So will your judgment be, yourself have decided it.
⁴¹ And he hastened and took the headband away from his eyes and the King of Israel discerned him that he was of the prophets. ⁴² And he said to him, Jehovah says thus, Because you have let go out of your hand the man whom I had devoted to destruction, therefore your life will go for his life and your people for his people.

³⁰ Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the King of Israel.

⁶ Both great and small will die in this land. They will not be buried, nor will men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them,

¹⁰ And when Pharaoh drew near, the sons of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them and they were very afraid. And the sons of Israel cried out to Jehovah.

³¹ And it happened, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the King of Israel. Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out. And Jehovah helped him and God moved them from him.

¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you and you will glorify me.

¹⁵ He will call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him and honor him.

¹ I love Jehovah because he hears my voice and my supplications. ² Because he has inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call as long as I live.

¹ Out of the depths I have cried to you, O Jehovah. ² Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
³ If you, Jehovah, should note iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? ⁴ But there is forgiveness with you, that you may be feared.

¹ Then Jonah prayed to Jehovah his God out of the sea creatures belly. ² And he said, I called because of my affliction to Jehovah and he answered me. Out of the belly of Sheol I cried and you heard my voice.

³¹ Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great, except only with the King of Israel.

¹⁰ Surely the inward thought of man will praise you, even the residue of inward thought will observe a festival to you.

⁴⁹ And David put his hand in his bag and took from there a stone and slung it and killed* the Philistine in his forehead. And the stone sank into his forehead and he fell upon his face to the earth.

¹¹ And with Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem who were invited and went in their simplicity. And they did not know anything.

²⁴ And Jehu drew his bow with his full strength and killed* Joram between his arms. And the arrow went out at his heart and he sank down in his chariot.

²³ And the archers shot at king Josiah. And the king said to his servants, Remove me, for I am severely wounded.

¹³ Therefore I also have struck you with a grievous wound, I have made you desolate because of your sins.

⁹ And they had breastplates, like iron breastplates, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses running to war.

²⁸ And Micaiah said, If you return at all in peace, Jehovah has not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, you* peoples, all of you*.

⁷ And Jehovah said to Gideon, By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you* and deliver the Midianites into your hand. And let all the people go every man to his place. ⁸ So the people took provision in their hand and their trumpets. And he sent all the men of Israel every man to his tent, but retained the three hundred men. And the camp of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

²⁴ And the sons of Israel departed from there at that time, every man to his tribe and to his family and they went out from there every man to his inheritance.

¹⁰ And the Philistines fought and Israel was struck and they fled every man to his tent. And there was a very great slaughter, for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.

⁸ Then the king arose and sat in the gate. And they told to all the people, saying, Behold, the king is sitting in the gate. And all the people came before the king. Now Israel had fled every man to his tent.

¹⁶ And when all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? Neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse. To your* tents, O Israel. Now see to your own house, David. So Israel departed to their tents.

²⁴ Jehovah says thus, You* will not go up, nor fight against your* brothers the sons of Israel. Return every man to his house, for this thing is of me. So they listened to the word of Jehovah and returned and went their way according to the word of Jehovah.

¹⁷ And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And Jehovah said, These have no master, let them return every man to his house in peace.

¹² And Judah was put to the worse before Israel and they fled every man to his tent.

¹⁴ And behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth. And you* know in all your* hearts and in all your* souls, that not one thing has failed of all the good things which Jehovah your* God spoke concerning you*. All have happen to you*; not one thing has failed of it.
¹⁵ And it will happen, that as all the good things have come upon you* of which Jehovah your* God spoke to you*, so will Jehovah bring upon you* all the evil things, until he has destroyed you* from this good land which Jehovah your* God has given you*.

²⁵ who frustrates the signs of the liars and makes diviners mad, who turns wise men backward and makes their knowledge foolish, ²⁶ who confirms the word of his servant and performs the counsel of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem, She will be inhabited and of the cities of Judah, They will be built and I will raise up the waste places of it,

³ I have declared the former things from of old. Yes, they went forth out of my mouth and I showed them. Suddenly I did them and they happened.
⁴ Because I knew that you are obstinate and your neck is an iron muscle and your brow brass, ⁵ therefore I have declared it to you from of old. Before it happened I showed it to you, lest you should say, My idol has done them. And my graven image and my molten image, has commanded them.

²¹ The incense that you* burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you* and your* fathers, your* kings and your* rulers and the people of the land, did Jehovah not remember them and did it not come into his mind? ²² So that Jehovah could no longer bear, because of the evil of your* practices and because of the abominations which you* have committed. Therefore your* land has become a desolation and an astonishment and a curse, without inhabitant, as it is this day. ²³ Because you* have burned incense and because you* have sinned against Jehovah and have not obeyed the voice of Jehovah, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies, therefore this evil has happened to you*, as it is this day.

⁴ Do not be as your* fathers, to whom the former prophets cried, saying, Jehovah of hosts says thus: Return now from your* evil ways and from your* evil practices, but they did not hear, nor listen to me, says Jehovah.
⁵ Your* fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live everlasting? ⁶ But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your* fathers? And they turned and said, Like as Jehovah of hosts thought to do to us, according to our ways and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.

³⁵ The heaven and the earth will be passing away, but my words may never pass away.

¹⁸ Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with the finest gold.

²² For the king had at sea a navy of Tarshish with the navy of Hiram. Once every three years the navy of Tarshish came, bringing gold and silver, ivory and apes and peacocks.

¹⁹ And the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

²³ Now the rest of all the acts of Asa and all his might and all that he did and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? But in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

³¹ Now the rest of the acts of Nadab and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

⁵ Now the rest of the acts of Baasha and what he did and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

²⁰ Now the rest of the acts of Zimri and his treason that he worked, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

²⁷ Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did and his might that he showed, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

⁸ All your garments smell of myrrh and aloes and cassia. Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made you glad.

⁶ Of the oaks of Bashan they have made your oars. They have made your benches of ivory inlaid in boxwood, from the isles of Kittim.

¹⁵ The men of Dedan were your merchants. Many isles were the mart of your hand. They brought you in exchange horns of ivory and ebony.

¹⁵ And I will kill* the winter house with the summer house and the houses of ivory will perish and the great houses will have an end, says Jehovah.

⁴ who lie upon beds of ivory and stretch themselves upon their couches and eat the lambs out of the flock and the calves out of the midst of the stall,

¹⁶ And Jehovah said to Moses, Behold, you will sleep with your fathers. And this people will rise up and play the prostitute after the strange gods of the land where they go to be among them and will forsake me and break my covenant which I have made with them.

¹² When your days are fulfilled and you will sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will proceed out of your guts and I will establish his kingdom.

¹⁰ And David slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David.

²¹ And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers and that Joab the captain of the army was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart that I may go to my own country.

³¹ And Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. And Abijah his son reigned instead of him.

⁵¹ Ahaziah the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah and he reigned two years over Israel.

² And Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria and was sick. And he sent messengers and said to them, Go, inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover of this sickness.

¹⁷ So he died according to the word of Jehovah which Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram began to reign instead of him in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, because he had no son.

³⁵ And after this Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined himself with Ahaziah King of Israel. The same did very wickedly.

² And it happened in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the King of Israel.

¹⁰ And Solomon's son was Rehoboam, Abijah his son, Asa his son, Jehoshaphat his son,

¹ And Jehoshaphat his son reigned instead of him and strengthened himself against Israel.

³¹ And Jehoshaphat reigned over Judah. He was thirty-five years old when he began to reign. And he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

²¹ And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Jehovah had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

² He reigned three years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.

¹⁰ And he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. And his grandmother's name was Maacah the daughter of Abishalom.

¹⁶ And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab King of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

⁸ They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made for them a molten calf and have worshiped it and have sacrificed to it and said, These are your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt.

²⁰ And Samuel said to the people, Do not fear. You* have indeed done all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following Jehovah, but serve Jehovah with all your* heart. ²¹ And do not turn not aside after vain things which cannot profit nor deliver, for they are vain.

²³ For they also built for them high places and pillars and Asherim, on every high hill and under every green tree.

⁵ because David did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah and did not turn aside from anything that he commanded him all the days of his life, except only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.

¹¹ And Asa did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah as David his father did.

¹⁴ But the high places were not taken away. Nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect with Jehovah all his days.

³ However the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

³ And he did what was right in the eyes of Jehovah, yet not like David his father. He did according to all that Joash his father had done. ⁴ However the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places.

²² But if you* say to me, We trust in Jehovah our God, is that not he whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah has taken away and has said to Judah and to Jerusalem, You* will worship before this altar in Jerusalem?

² And Asa did what was good and right in the eyes of Jehovah his God. ³ For he took away the foreign altars and the high places and broke down the pillars and hewed down the Asherim, ⁴ and commanded Judah to seek Jehovah, the God of their fathers and to do the law and the commandment. ⁵ Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the sun-images. And the kingdom was quiet before him.

¹¹ And Asa cried to Jehovah his God and said, Jehovah, there is none besides you to help, between the mighty and he who has no strength. Help us, O Jehovah our God. For we rely on you and in your name we come against this multitude. O Jehovah, you are our God. Do not let man prevail against you.

⁸ And when Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage and put away the abominations out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin and out of the cities which he had taken from the hill-country of Ephraim. And he renewed the altar of Jehovah, that was before the porch of Jehovah.

¹⁷ But the high places were not taken away out of Israel. Nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

⁷ And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah and said to him, Because you have relied on the king of Syria and have not relied on Jehovah your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped out of your hand.
⁸ Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge army, with chariots and horsemen exceedingly many? Yet, because you relied on Jehovah, he delivered them into your hand.
⁹ For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong to those whose heart is perfect toward him. In this you have done foolishly, for from hereafter you will have wars.
¹⁰ Then Asa was angry with the seer and put him in the prison-house. For he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people at the same time.
¹¹ And behold, the acts of Asa, first and last behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel. ¹² And in the thirty-ninth year of his reign Asa was diseased in his feet. His disease was exceedingly great, yet in his disease he did not seek for Jehovah, but to the physicians.

³ And Jehovah was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the former ways of his father David and did not seek for the Baals, ⁴ but sought for the God of his father and walked in his commandments and not after the practices of Israel.
⁵ Therefore Jehovah established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat tribute and he had riches and honor in abundance. ⁶ And his heart was lifted up in the ways of Jehovah. And furthermore he took away the high places and the Asherim out of Judah.

³ Nevertheless there are good things found in you, in that you have put away the Asheroth out of the land and have set your heart to seek God.
⁴ And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem. And he went out again among the people from Beer-sheba to the hill-country of Ephraim and brought them back to Jehovah, the God of their fathers.

³ And Jehoshaphat was afraid and set himself to seek for Jehovah. And he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. ⁴ And Judah gathered themselves together, to seek help from Jehovah, even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek Jehovah.
⁵ And Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem in the house of Jehovah before the new court. ⁶ And he said, O Jehovah, the God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? And are you not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? And in your hand is power and might, so that none is able to withstand you.
⁷ Did you not, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it to the seed of Abraham your friend everlasting? ⁸ And they dwelt in it and have built for you a sanctuary in it for your name, saying, ⁹ If evil comes upon us, the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house and before you, (for your name is in this house,) and cry out to you in our affliction and you will hear and save.
¹⁰ And now, behold, the sons of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir (whom you would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them and did not destroy them), ¹¹ behold, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of your possession, which you have given us to inherit. ¹² O our God, will you not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that comes against us. Neither do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.
¹³ And all Judah stood before Jehovah, with their little ones, their wives and their sons.
¹⁴ Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, the Levite, of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of Jehovah in the midst of the assembly.
¹⁵ And he said, Listen, all Judah and you* inhabitants of Jerusalem and you king Jehoshaphat. Thus Jehovah says to you*, Do not fear, neither be dismayed because of this great multitude. For the battle is not yours*, but God's. ¹⁶ Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they come up by the Ascent of Ziz. And you* will find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
¹⁷ You* will not need to fight in this battle. Set yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of Jehovah with you*, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not fear, nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, for Jehovah is with you*.
¹⁸ And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground. And all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before Jehovah, worshiping Jehovah. ¹⁹ And the Levites, of the sons of the Kohathites and of the sons of the Korahites, stood up to praise Jehovah, the God of Israel, with an exceedingly loud voice.
²⁰ And they rose early in the morning and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa. And as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah and you* inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in Jehovah your* God, so you* will be established. Believe his prophets, so you* will prosper.
²¹ And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to Jehovah and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army and say, Give thanks to Jehovah. For his loving kindness is everlasting. ²² And when they began to sing and to praise, Jehovah set an ambush against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir who came against Judah and they were struck. ²³ For the sons of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir, to kill* and destroy them utterly. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another of themselves.
²⁴ And when Judah came to the watch-tower of the wilderness, they looked upon the multitude. And behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth and there were none who escaped.
²⁵ And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches and dead bodies and desirable jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away. And they were three days in taking the spoil, it was so much.
²⁶ And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Beracah, for there they praised Jehovah. Therefore the name of that place was called The valley of Beracah to this day. ²⁷ Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy. For Jehovah had made them to rejoice over their enemies. ²⁸ And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets to the house of Jehovah.
²⁹ And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of the countries, when they heard that Jehovah fought against the enemies of Israel. ³⁰ So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet. For his God gave him rest all around.

⁴ The man is fortunate who makes Jehovah his trust and respects not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

³ I will set no wicked speech before my eyes. I hate the work of those who turn aside. It will not cleave to me.

⁵ But as for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, Jehovah will lead them forth with the workers of wickedness.
Peace be upon Israel.

²⁷ Do not turn to the right hand nor to the left. Remove your foot from evil.

⁶ And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for he had the daughter of Ahab as a wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah.

¹⁴ Do not become unequally yoked with unbelieving ones; for what partnership has righteousness and lawlessness? And what fellowship has light with darkness?

⁴¹ Now the rest of the acts of Solomon and all that he did and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

²⁹ Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

³⁴ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, first and last, behold, they are written in the history of Jehu the son of Hanani, which is inserted in the book of the kings of Israel.

⁵ And they called to Lot and said to him, Where are the men who came to you this night? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.

¹⁷ There will be no prostitute of the daughters of Israel, neither will there be a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

²² As they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain worthless fellows, beset the house all around, beating at the door. And they spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man who came into your house, that we may know him.

²⁴ And there were also sodomites in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which Jehovah drove out before the sons of Israel.

¹² And he put away the sodomites out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

²⁶ Because of this, God gave them up to passions of dishonor; for even their females exchanged the natural use into what is contrary to anything natural; ²⁷ and the males also likewise, having left the natural use of the female, burned in their lust toward one another, males with males working forth indecency and receiving in themselves the recompense which was essential from their error.

⁹ Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not be inheriting the kingdom of God? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor pedophiles, nor homosexuals,

¹⁰ for fornicators, for homosexuals, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers and if any other thing which lays in opposition to sound teaching;

⁷ As Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them in a similar manner with these, having indulged in fornication and having gone after different flesh, are laying before us as an example, being held under the sentence of everlasting fire.

²³ And Jehovah said to her, Two nations are in your womb and two peoples will be separated from your guts. And the one people will be stronger than the other people. And the elder will serve the younger.

⁴⁰ And you will live by your sword and you will serve your brother. And it will happen, when you will break loose, that you will shake his yoke from your neck.

³¹ And these are the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before any king reigned over the sons of Israel. ³² And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom and the name of his city was Dinhabah. ³³ And Bela died and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned instead of him. ³⁴ And Jobab died and Husham from the land of the Temanites reigned instead of him. ³⁵ And Husham died and Hadad the son of Bedad, who killed* Midian in the field of Moab, reigned instead of him. And the name of his city was Avith. ³⁶ And Hadad died and Samlah from Masrekah reigned instead of him. ³⁷ And Samlah died and Shaul of Rehoboth by the Euphrates River reigned instead of him. ³⁸ And Shaul died and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned instead of him. ³⁹ And Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died and Hadar reigned instead of him. And the name of his city was Pau and his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab.
⁴⁰ And these are the names of the chiefs that came of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names: chief Timnah, chief Alvah, chief Jetheth, ⁴¹ chief Oholibamah, chief Elah, chief Pinon, ⁴² chief Kenaz, chief Teman, chief Mibzar, ⁴³ chief Magdiel, chief Iram. These are the chiefs of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession. This is Esau, the father of the Edomites.

¹⁴ And he put garrisons in Edom. He put garrisons throughout all Edom and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Jehovah gave victory to David wherever he went.

⁹ So the King of Israel went and the king of Judah and the king of Edom. And they made a circuit of seven days' journey and there was no water for the army, nor for the beasts that followed them.

²⁰ In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah and made a king over themselves.

⁹ Moab is my wash pot. I will cast my shoe upon Edom. I will shout over Philistia.
¹⁰ Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who has led me to Edom?

³⁵ And they journeyed from Abronah and encamped in Ezion-geber.
³⁶ And they journeyed from Ezion-geber and encamped in the wilderness of Zin (what is Kadesh).

²⁶ And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion-geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.

²⁸ And they came to Ophir and fetched gold from there, four hundred and twenty talants and brought it to king Solomon.

²¹ For the king had ships that went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram. Once every three years the ships of Tarshish came, bringing gold and silver, ivory and apes and peacocks.

²¹ And when he had taken counsel with the people, he appointed those who should sing to Jehovah and give praise in holy array, as they went out before the army and say, Give thanks to Jehovah. For his loving kindness is everlasting.

³⁵ And after this Jehoshaphat king of Judah joined himself with Ahaziah King of Israel. The same did very wickedly. ³⁶ And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish. And they made the ships in Ezion-geber.
³⁷ Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, Jehovah has destroyed your works. And the ships were broken, so that they were not able to go to Tarshish.

⁷ But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you. For Jehovah is not with Israel, namely, with all the sons of Ephraim.

⁹ Kings' daughters are among your honorable women. At your right hand stands the queen in gold of Ophir.

⁷ You break the ships of Tarshish with the east wind.

¹⁶ and upon all the ships of Tarshish and upon all desirable imagery.

⁹ Surely the isles will wait for me and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring your sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, for the name of Jehovah your God and for the Holy One of Israel, because he has glorified you.

³ But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah. And he went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare of it and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of Jehovah.

⁴³ And Solomon slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father. And Rehoboam his son reigned instead of him.

⁴⁰ So Ahab slept with his fathers and Ahaziah his son reigned instead of him.

¹⁶ And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab King of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign. ¹⁷ He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. ¹⁸ And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for he had the daughter of Ahab as a wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah.

¹ And Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned instead of him.

⁵ Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he began to reign and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
⁶ And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab, for he had the daughter of Ahab as a wife. And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah. ⁷ However Jehovah would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons always.

²⁵ And Nadab the son of Jeroboam began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa king of Judah. And he reigned over Israel two years.

²⁸ Upon it the king took counsel and made two calves of gold. And he said to them, It is too much for you* to go up to Jerusalem. Behold your gods, O Israel, which brought you up out of the land of Egypt. ²⁹ And he set the one in Bethel and the other he put in Dan. ³⁰ And this thing became a sin, for the people went to worship before the one, even to Dan. ³¹ And he made houses of high places and made priests from among all the people who were not of the sons of Levi.
³² And Jeroboam made a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like the feast that is in Judah and he went up to the altar. So he did in Bethel, sacrificing to the calves that he had made. And he placed in Bethel the priests of the high places that he had made. ³³ And he went up to the altar which he had made in Bethel on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart. And he made a feast for the sons of Israel and went up to the altar to burn incense.

⁹ but have done evil above all who were before you and have gone and made you other gods and molten images to provoke me to anger and have cast me behind your back, ¹⁰ therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam and will cut off from Jeroboam every one who urinates on the wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam as a man sweeps away manure, till it is all gone.
¹¹ He who dies of Jeroboam in the city will the dogs eat and he who dies in the field will the birds of the heavens eat, for Jehovah has spoken it.
¹² Arise you therefore, get you to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child will die. ¹³ And all Israel will mourn for him and bury him, for he only of Jeroboam will come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Jehovah, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.
¹⁴ Moreover Jehovah will raise up a king for him over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam that day. But what? Even now. ¹⁵ For Jehovah will kill* Israel as a reed is shaken in the water. And he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers and will scatter them beyond the River because they have made their Asherim, provoking Jehovah to anger. ¹⁶ And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned and with which he has made Israel to sin.

²⁶ And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah and walked in the way of his father and in his sin with which he made Israel to sin.

³⁴ And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin with which he made Israel to sin.

³⁰ And Ahab the son of Omri did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah above all who were before him.
³¹ And it happened, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took a wife, Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians and went and served Baal and worshiped him.
³² And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria. ³³ And Ahab made the Asherah. And Ahab did yet more to provoke Jehovah, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.

²⁵ (But there was none like Ahab, who sold himself to do what was evil in the sight of Jehovah, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.

² And Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria and was sick. And he sent messengers and said to them, Go, inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover of this sickness.
³ But the messenger of Jehovah said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them, Is it because there is no God in Israel that you* go to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? ⁴ Now therefore Jehovah says thus, You will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but will surely die. And Elijah departed.
⁵ And the messengers returned to him and he said to them, Why is it that you* are returned? ⁶ And they said to him, There came up a man to meet us and said to us, Go, turn again to the king that sent you* and say to him, Jehovah says thus, Is it because there is no God in Israel that you send to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but will surely die.
⁷ And he said to them, What manner of man was he who came up to meet you* and told you* these words?

³ Nevertheless he clung to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin; he did not depart from there.

²⁷ And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab and did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah, as did the house of Ahab, for he was the son-in-law of the house of Ahab.

³ He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab. For his mother was his counselor to do wickedly.

²⁴ Now she went out and said to her mother, What shall I ask for?
Now she said, The head of John the Immerser.

²⁰ Behold, I am standing at the door and knocking; if anyone hears my voice and if he opens the door, I will enter to him and will dine with him and he with me.

¹ And the messenger of Jehovah came up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, I made you* go up out of Egypt and have brought you* to the land which I swore to your* fathers. And I said, I will not break my everlasting covenant with you*. ² And you* will make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land. You* will break down their altars. But you* have not listened to my voice. Why have you* done this?
³ Therefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you*, but they will be as thorns in your* sides and their gods will be a snare to you*.
⁴ And it happened, when the messenger of Jehovah spoke these words to all the sons of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice and wept. ⁵ And they called the name of that place Bochim and they sacrificed there to Jehovah.
⁶ Now when Joshua had sent the people away, the sons of Israel went every man to his inheritance to possess the land. ⁷ And the people served Jehovah all the days of Joshua and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great work of Jehovah that he had worked for Israel.
⁸ And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Jehovah, died, being a hundred and ten years old. ⁹ And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-heres, in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash. ¹⁰ And also all that generation were gathered to their fathers.
And there arose another generation after them that did not know Jehovah, nor yet the work which he had worked for Israel. ¹¹ And the sons of Israel did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah and served the Baals.

⁷ And moreover the word of Jehovah came against Baasha by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani and against his house, both because of all the evil that he did in the sight of Jehovah, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands in being like the house of Jeroboam and because he killed* him.

³⁰ And Ahab the son of Omri did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah above all who were before him.
³¹ And it happened, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took a wife, Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians and went and served Baal and worshiped him.
³² And he reared up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.

²⁹ You see how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days, but in his son's days will I bring the evil upon his house.

² And he did what was evil in the sight of Jehovah, but not like his father and like his mother, for he put away the pillar of Baal that his father had made.

²⁹ Thus they provoked him to anger with their practices and the plague broke in upon them.

³ a people who provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens and burning incense upon bricks,

³ And he put forth the form of a hand and took me by a lock of my head. And the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the gate of the inner court that looks toward the north, where the seat of the image of jealousy was, which provokes to jealousy.

¹⁴ Now behold, if he begets a son, who sees all his father's sins, which he has done and fears and does not do such like, ¹⁵ who has not eaten upon the mountains, nor has lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, has not defiled his neighbor's wife, ¹⁶ nor has wronged any man, has not taken anything to pledge, nor has taken by robbery, but has given his bread to a hungry man and has covered a naked man with a garment, ¹⁷ who has withdrawn his hand from a poor man, who has not received interest nor increase, has executed my ordinances, has walked in my statutes, he will not die for the iniquity of his father. He will surely live.
¹⁸ As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, robbed his brother and did what is not good among his people, behold, he will die in his iniquity.
