13 Furthermore Jehovah spoke to me, saying, I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stubborn people. 14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under heaven and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.
15 So I turned and came down from the mountain and the mountain was burning with fire. And the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands. 16 And I looked, and behold, you* had sinned against Jehovah your* God. You* had made you* a molten calf. You* had turned aside quickly out of the way which Jehovah had commanded you*.

Yes, he warms himself and says, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire. 17 And the residue of it he makes a god, even his graven image. He falls down to it and worships and prays to it and says, Deliver me, for you are my god.

For he has shut their eyes, that they cannot see and their hearts, that they cannot understand. 19 And none calls to mind, nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire. Jeremiah 7:9-10
