¹⁷ But whoever has the world’s good life and should view his brother having need and then should lock his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

⁷ If there is with you a poor man, one of your brothers, within any of your gates in your land which Jehovah your God gives you, you will not harden your heart, nor shut your hand from your poor brother, ⁸ but you will surely open your hand to him and will surely lend him sufficient for his need which he wants.
⁹ Beware that there not be a worthless thought in your heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand and your eye be evil against your poor brother and you give him nothing and he cry to Jehovah against you and it is sin to you. ¹⁰ You will surely give him and your heart will not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing Jehovah your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you put your hand to.
¹¹ For the poor will never cease out of the land. Therefore I command you, saying, You will surely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and to your poor, in your land.

¹⁰ A righteous man regards the life of his beast, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

¹⁷ He who has pity upon a poor man lends to Jehovah and he will repay him his good deed.

⁹ He who turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

⁷ Is it not to deal your bread to a hungry man and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house, when you see a naked man, that you cover him and that you not hide yourself from your own flesh?
⁸ Then your light will break forth as the morning and your healing will spring forth speedily. And your righteousness will go before you. The glory of Jehovah will be your rearward. ⁹ Then you will call and Jehovah will answer, you will cry and he will say, Here I am. If you take the yoke away from the midst of you, the putting forth of the finger and speaking wickedly, ¹⁰ and if you draw out your soul to a hungry man and satisfy an afflicted soul, then your light will rise in darkness and your obscurity be as the noonday.

¹¹ But he answered and said to them, He who has two tunics, let him give one to the one who has none, and he who has food, let him do likewise.

⁹ For you know the favor of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet he became-poor because of you, in order that you might be enriched through that poverty.

¹⁴ in order that their abundance may also become for your lack, that there may become equality, ¹⁵ as it has been written, ‘He who gathered much did not increase, and he who gathered few did not have less.’

⁵ Therefore I deemed it necessary to encourage the brethren, in order that they should go beforehand to you, and should prearrange the bounty you have proclaimed beforehand. This is to be ready, as a bounty and not as something from greed. ⁶ But I say this, He who is sowing sparingly will also be reaping sparingly, and he who is sowing upon his bounties will also be reaping upon his bounties. ⁷ Let each man give just-as he proposes in his heart; not out of sorrow or out of necessity; for God loves a joyful giver. ⁸ Now God is able to make abound all grace toward you; in order that having all self-sufficiency in everything, you should always abound to every good work; ⁹ as it has been written, ‘He has scattered them, he has given to the poor; his righteousness remains forever.’

¹⁷ Command the rich in this current age, not to be cavalier, nor to have hope on the uncertainty of riches, but have hope in the living God, who is richly providing to us all things toward enjoyment; ¹⁸ also command them to work what is good, to be rich in good works, to be liberal in giving, generous,

¹⁶ But do not forget the practice of good and fellowship; for God is well pleased with such sacrifices.

¹⁵ But if a brother or sister is naked and may be deficient of daily nourishment,

²⁰ If anyone say, I love God and then should hate his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, how is he able to love God, whom he has not seen?

¹ Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born from God and everyone who loves the one who fathered us, also loves the one who has been born from him.
