²⁰ And I became like a Jew to the Jews, in order that I might gain Jews. I became like those under the law to those who are under the law, in order that I might gain those who are under the law.

³ This one, Paul wished to go forth together with him, and he took Timothy and circumcised him because of the Jews who are in those places; for they all knew that his father was Greek.

² Now according to his custom, Paul entered to them and upon three Sabbath days reasoned with them from the Scriptures, ³ opening and placing before them that it was essential for the Christ to have suffered and to have risen up from the dead, and that this Jesus, whom I am proclaiming to you, is the Christ.

¹⁸ But Paul, having remained after this still a considerable number of days, bid farewell to the brethren.


Now he sailed away to Syria, and together with him was Priscilla and Aquila; having sheared his head in Cenchreae; for he had a vow.

²⁰ Now when they heard it, they were glorifying the Lord, having said to him, You are now viewing brother, how many tens of thousands there are of the Jews who have believed, and they are all zealous ones of the law; ²¹ and they have been instructed concerning you, that you are teaching apostasy from Moses to all the Jews among the nations, telling them not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs.
²² Therefore what is this?
It is essential for the multitude to certainly come together; for they will be hearing that you have come. ²³ Therefore you do this thing, what we say to you. We have four men who have a vow upon themselves. ²⁴ Paul, take these and purify yourself together with them, and be spent for them, in order that they may shave their heads and the things of which they have been instructed concerning you are nothing, but you yourself also march accordingly, observing the law.
²⁵ But concerning the Gentiles who have believed, we have informed them by letter, after having decided, to observe no such thing, except to keep themselves from idol-sacrifices, and from blood, and from what is strangled, and from fornication.
²⁶ Then Paul took the men and in the next day, they were going into the temple having been purified together with them, thus thoroughly proclaiming the fulfillment of the days of purification, until the offering was offered on behalf of each one of them.

¹⁹ Now we know how-much, as many things as the law says, it is speaking to those in the law; in order that every mouth may be sealed and all the world may become under the sentence of God;

¹⁴ For sin will not have lordship over you; for you are not under the law, but under grace. ¹⁵ Therefore what? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? Let it not happen!

¹⁴ if somehow I provoke to jealousy those who are my flesh and might save some out of them.

²¹ Tell me, you who wish to be under the law, are you not hearing the law?

¹⁸ But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
