²⁸ For their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of Jehovah, in the courts and in the chambers and in the purifying of all holy things, even the work of the service of the house of God, also

⁶ Bring the tribe of Levi near and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him. ⁷ And they will keep his charge and the charge of the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, to do the service of the tabernacle. ⁸ And they will keep all the furniture of the tent of meeting and the charge of the sons of Israel, to do the service of the tabernacle. ⁹ And you will give the Levites to Aaron and to his sons. They are entirely given to him from the sons of Israel.

⁵ And against the wall of the house he built stories all around, against the walls of the house all around, both of the temple and of the oracle. And he made side-chambers all around.

²⁸ And certain of them had charge of the vessels of service, for by count were these brought in and by count were these taken out. ²⁹ Some of them were also appointed over the furniture and over all the vessels of the sanctuary and over the fine flour and the wine and the oil and the frankincense and the spices.

¹⁷ and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites and the sons of David were chief about the king.

⁴ Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of the house of Jehovah. And six thousand were officers and judges,

¹³ also for the divisions of the priests and the Levites and for all the work of the service of the house of Jehovah and for all the vessels of service in the house of Jehovah,

⁵ and said to them, Hear me, you* Levites. Now sanctify yourselves and sanctify the house of Jehovah, the God of your* fathers and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

¹⁸ Then they went in to Hezekiah the king within the palace and said, We have cleansed all the house of Jehovah and the altar of burnt offering with all the vessels of it and the table of showbread with all the vessels of it. ¹⁹ Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign cast away when he trespassed, we have prepared and made holy. And behold, they are before the altar of Jehovah.

¹¹ Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of Jehovah and they prepared them.

³ And he said to the Levites who taught all Israel, who were holy to Jehovah, Put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David King of Israel built. There will no more be a burden upon your* shoulders. Now serve Jehovah your* God and his people Israel.
⁴ And prepare yourselves after your* fathers' houses by your* divisions, according to the writing of David King of Israel and according to the writing of Solomon his son. ⁵ And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the fathers' houses of your* brothers the sons of the people and the portion of a fathers' house of the Levites. ⁶ And kill the Passover and sanctify yourselves and prepare for your* brothers, to do according to the word of Jehovah by Moses.

¹¹ And they killed the Passover and the priests sprinkled the blood by their hand and the Levites skinned them.
¹² And they removed the burnt offerings that they might give them according to the divisions of the fathers' houses of the sons of the people, to offer to Jehovah as it is written in the book of Moses. And so they did with the oxen. ¹³ And they roasted the Passover with fire according to the ordinance. And the holy offerings they boiled in pots and in caldrons and in pans and carried them quickly to all the sons of the people.
¹⁴ And afterward they prepared for themselves and for the priests, because the priests the sons of Aaron were busy in offering the burnt offerings and the fat until night. Therefore the Levites prepared for themselves and for the priests the sons of Aaron.

²⁹ Watch and keep them, until you* weigh them before the chiefs of the priests and the Levites and the rulers of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of Jehovah.

²⁴ And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabel, of the sons of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people.

⁴ Now before this, Eliashib the priest, who was appointed over the chambers of the house of our God, being allied to Tobiah, ⁵ had prepared for him a great chamber, where formerly they laid the meal offerings, the frankincense and the vessels and the tithes of the grain, the new wine and the oil, which were given by commandment to the Levites and the singers and the gatekeepers and the heave offerings for the priests.

⁹ Then I commanded and they cleansed the chambers. And there I brought again the vessels of the house of God, with the meal offerings and the frankincense.

⁴ And I brought them into the house of Jehovah, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan the son of Igdaliah, the man of God, which was by the chamber of the rulers, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the threshold.

⁶ And the side-chambers were in three stories, one over another and thirty in order. And they entered into the wall which belonged to the house for the side-chambers all around, that they might be attached to it and not be attached to the wall of the house. ⁷ And the side-chambers were broader as they circled the house higher and higher, for the circling of the house went higher and higher all around the house. Therefore the breadth of the house continued upward and so increased from the lowest chamber to the highest by the middle chamber.
⁸ I also saw that the house had a raised basement all around. The foundations of the side-chambers were a full reed of six great cubits. ⁹ The thickness of the wall, which was for the side-chambers, on the outside, was five cubits. And what was left was the place of the side-chambers that belonged to the house. ¹⁰ And between the chambers was a breadth of twenty cubits all around the house on every side. ¹¹ And the doors of the side-chambers were toward the place that was left, one door toward the north and another door toward the south. And the breadth of the place that was left was five cubits all around.

²⁶ And there were closed windows and palm trees on the one side and on the other side, on the sides of the porch. Thus were the side-chambers of the house and the thresholds.

³ Opposite the twenty which belonged to the inner court and opposite the pavement which belonged to the outer court, was gallery against gallery in the third story.

¹³ Then he said to me, The north chambers and the south chambers, which are before the separate place, they are the holy chambers, where the priests that are near to Jehovah will eat the most holy things. There they will lay the most holy things and the meal offering and the sin offering and the trespass offering, for the place is holy.
