⁷ The watchmen who went about the city found me and struck me; they wounded me. The keepers of the wall lifted my veil from me.

⁵ Let the righteous strike me; it shall be a kindness; and let him correct me, it is oil on my head, let not my head refuse it; for still my prayer also shall be against their wickedness.

³ The watchmen going about the city found me. I said, Have you seen Him whom my soul loves?

¹¹ Solomon had a vineyard in Baal-hamon; he let out the vineyard to keepers; everyone for its fruit was to bring a thousand of silver.

¹⁰ Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed. ¹¹ Then I said, Lord, how long? And He answered, Until the cities are wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land laid waste, a desolation,

⁶ I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem, who will not always be silent all the day nor all the night; you who remember Jehovah, do not be silent.

⁵ So I have cut them down by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth. And your judgments were as the light that goes forth.

⁷ The days of her judgment have come; the days of vengeance have come; Israel shall know it. The prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is insane, because of the greatness of your iniquity and the great hatred. ⁸ The watchman of Ephraim was with my God. The prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.

³³ Hear another parable. There was a certain housemaster who planted a vineyard and hedged it round about, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and rented it to vinedressers, and went into a far country. ³⁴ And when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the vinedressers to receive its fruits. ³⁵ And the vinedressers took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. ³⁶ Again he sent other servants, more than the first, and they did the same to them. ³⁷ But last of all he sent his son to them, saying, They will respect my son. ³⁸ But when the vinedressers saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, and get hold of his inheritance. ³⁹ And taking him, they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. ⁴⁰ Therefore when the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those vinedressers? ⁴¹ They said to Him, Bad men! He will miserably destroy them and will rent out his vineyard to other vinedressers who will give him the fruits in their seasons.

²⁹ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets, and decorate the tombs of the righteous, ³⁰ and say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. ³¹ Therefore you are witnesses to yourselves, that you are the sons of those who killed the prophets; ³² and you fill up the measure of your fathers. ³³ Serpents! Offspring of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell? ³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send prophets and wise men and scribes to you. And you will kill and crucify some of them. And some of them you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city; ³⁵ so that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah the son of Berachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come on this generation.

²² Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall cut you off, and when they shall reproach you and shall cast out your name as evil, for the sake of the Son of Man.

² They shall put you out of the synagogue. But an hour is coming that everyone who kills you will think that he bears God service.

⁴⁰ And they obeyed him. And calling the apostles, beating them, they commanded not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. ⁴¹ Then indeed they departed from the presence of the sanhedrin, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to be shamed for His name.

²⁹ For I know this, that after my departure grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock. ³⁰ Also men shall arise from your own selves, speaking perverse things in order to draw disciples away after them.

⁹ I truly thought within myself that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth, ¹⁰ which I also did in Jerusalem. And I shut up many of the saints in prisons, having received authority from the chief priests. And they being put to death, I cast a vote.

¹⁰ We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are honorable, but we are despised. ¹¹ Even until this present hour we both hunger and thirst and are naked and are buffeted and have no certain dwelling place. ¹² And we labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it; ¹³ being defamed, we entreat. We are made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

¹³ For such ones are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

⁶ concerning zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness in the Law, blameless.

³⁶ And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings; yes, more, of bonds and imprisonments. ³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawed in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented.

² looking to Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right of the throne of God.

¹⁴ If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of God and of glory rests on you. Truly according to them, He is blasphemed, but according to you He is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evildoer, or a meddler in the affairs of others. ¹⁶ But if one suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God because of this.

⁵ And on her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. ⁶ And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with a great marveling.
