² For if Abraham was justified by works, he has a boast; but not before God.

¹² And it will be when the Egyptians see you, they shall say, This is his wife. And they will kill me, but they will save you alive. ¹³ I pray you, say that you are my sister, so that it may be well with me for your sake. And my soul shall live because of you.

¹⁸ And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What is this you have done to me? Why did you not tell me that she is your wife?

²⁰ And Pharaoh commanded men concerning him. And they sent him away, and his wife, and all that he had.

⁹ Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, What have you done to us? In what have I offended you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done. ¹⁰ And Abimelech said to Abraham, What did you see that you have done this thing? ¹¹ And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place, and they will kill me for my wife's sake. ¹² And yet truly she is my sister. She is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother. And she became my wife. ¹³ And it happened when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her, This is your kindness which you show to me, at every place where we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.

² And Joshua said to all the people, So says Jehovah, the God of Israel, Your fathers lived Beyond the River in times past, Terah the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor, and they served other gods.

²³ So says Jehovah, Do not let the wise glory in his wisdom, nor let the mighty glory in his might; do not let the rich glory in his riches; ²⁴ but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am Jehovah, doing kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth; for in these I delight, says Jehovah.

⁹ And he said to me. Go in and see the evil abominations that they do here.

²⁰ because by the works of the Law none of all flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law is the knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now a righteousness of God has been revealed apart from Law, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets; ²² even the righteousness of God through the faith of Jesus Christ, toward all and upon all those who believe. For there is no difference, ²³ for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, ²⁴ being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; ²⁵ whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness through the passing by of the sins that had taken place before, in the forbearance of God; ²⁶ for the display of His righteousness at this time, for Him to be just and, forgiving the one being of the faith of Jesus. ²⁷ Then where is the boasting? It is excluded. Through what law? Of works? No, but through the law of faith. ²⁸ Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the works of the Law.

¹⁷ Therefore I have boasting in Christ Jesus as to the things pertaining to God.

²⁹ so that no flesh should glory in His presence.

³¹ so that, according as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the Lord."

⁷ For who makes you to differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?

¹⁶ For though I preach the gospel, no glory is to me. For necessity is laid on me; yea, woe is to me if I do not preach the gospel!

¹² For we do not commend ourselves again to you, but are giving you occasion to glory on our behalf, so that you may have it to answer those boasting in appearance, and not in heart.

¹² But what I do, that I will do, so that I may cut off occasion from those who desire occasion; so that in the thing in which they boast, they may be found even as we.

³⁰ If it is right to boast, I will boast of the things of my weakness.

¹ Indeed, it is not profitable for me to boast. For I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. ² I know a man in Christ fourteen years before (whether in the body, I do not know; or outside of the body, I do not know; God knows) such a one was caught up to the third Heaven. ³ And I know such a man (whether in the body, or outside of the body, I do not know; God knows), ⁴ that he was caught up into Paradise and heard unspeakable words, which it is not allowed for a man to utter. ⁵ I will glory of such a one, yet I will not boast on my behalf, except in my weaknesses. ⁶ For if I desire to boast, I shall not be foolish. For I will speak the truth. But I spare, lest anyone should think of me as being beyond what he sees me, or hears of me; ⁷ and by the surpassing revelations, lest I be made haughty, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be made haughty. ⁸ For this thing I besought the Lord three times, that it might depart from me. ⁹ And He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may overshadow me.

²² But the Scripture shut up all under sin, so that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

¹³ For they themselves, having been circumcised, do not even keep the Law, but they desire you to be circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh. ¹⁴ But may it never be for me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.

⁹ and be found in Him; not having my own righteousness, which is of the Law, but through the faith of Christ, the righteousness of God by faith,
