¹⁰ They go around her on her walls by day and night; and evil and sorrow are in her midst.

¹¹ Saul also sent messengers to David's house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. And David's wife Michal told him saying, If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you shall be killed.

²¹ And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to your father's concubines, that he left to keep the house. And all Israel shall hear that you are abhorred by your father. And the hands of all who are with you will be strong. ²² And they spread Absalom a tent on the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

¹ And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Please let me choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David tonight. ² And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak-handed, and I will make him tremble. And all the people with him will flee. And I will strike the king by himself.

⁶ They return at evening; they make a noise like a dog, and go around the city.

¹⁴ And at evening they shall return; let them howl like a dog, and go around the city. ¹⁵ Let them wander up and down for food, and growl if they are not satisfied.

⁶ Their webs shall not become clothing, nor shall they cover themselves with their works; their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands. ⁷ Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood; their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and ruin are in their paths. ⁸ They did not know the way of peace, and there is no judgment in their paths. They have made crooked paths for themselves; whoever goes in them shall not know peace. ⁹ Therefore judgment is far from us; nor does justice overtake us. We wait for light, but behold, dimness; for brightness, but we walk in darkness. ¹⁰ We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes. We stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in deserted places like dead men. ¹¹ We all roar like bears, and mourn grievously like doves; we look for judgment, but none; for salvation, but it is far off from us. ¹² For our transgressions are multiplied before You, and our sins testify against us. For our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them; ¹³ in transgressing and lying against Jehovah, and going away from our God, talking cruelty and revolt, conceiving and speaking from the heart words of falsehood. ¹⁴ And justice is driven back, and justice stands afar off; for truth has fallen in the street, and right cannot enter. ¹⁵ Yea, truth fails; and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. And Jehovah saw, and it displeased Him that there was no judgment.

⁴ And Jehovah said to him, Go through in the midst of the city, in the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark on the foreheads of the men who are groaning and are mourning because of all the abominations that are done in her midst.

⁶ For they have brought their heart near like an oven, while they lie in wait. Their baker sleeps at night; in the morning it burns like a flaming fire.

¹ Woe to those who plot wickedness and prepare evil on their beds! When the morning is light they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. ² And they covet and seize fields; and houses, and take them away. And they oppress a man and his household, even a man and his inheritance.

¹ Woe to her rebelling and becoming defiled, to the oppressing city! ² She did not obey the voice; she did not receive correction. She trusted not in Jehovah; she did not draw near to her God. ³ Her rulers within her are roaring lions; her judges evening wolves. They do not gnaw bones for the morning.

³ Then Judas, having received a band and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.

²⁸ Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas into the praetorium. And it was early. And they did not go into the praetorium, that they should not be defiled, and that they might eat the Passover.

²⁴ But their plot was known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night in order to kill him.
