⁷ And David took the stronghold of Zion; it is the city of David.

¹⁷ And they brought in the ark of Jehovah and set it in its place in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it. And David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before Jehovah.

¹⁶ And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar. He even built them for it inside, for the sanctuary, for the Holy of Holies.

⁴⁴ If Your people go out to battle against their enemy, wherever You shall send them, and shall pray to Jehovah toward the city which You have chosen, and the house that I have built for Your name, ⁴⁵ then hear in Heaven their prayer and their cry, and maintain their cause.

⁸ And they lived in it. And they have built You a temple in it for Your name, saying, ⁹ If evil comes on us, whether the sword, judgment, or plague, or famine, and we stand before this house and in Your presence (for Your name is in this house) and cry to You in our affliction, then You will hear and help.

⁴ I cried to Jehovah with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy hill. Selah.

¹⁷ until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end.

⁶ Cry out and shout, O dweller of Zion; for great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst.

³² What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That Jehovah has founded Zion, and the poor of His people shall trust in it.

³⁴ By the way that he came, by the same he shall return, and shall not come into this city, says Jehovah. ³⁵ For I will defend this city to save it, for My own sake and for My servant David's sake.
