Proverbs 26 Cross References - MKJV

1 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honor is not becoming for a fool. 2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse without cause shall not come. 3 A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back. 4 Do not answer a fool according to his foolishness, lest you also be like him. 5 Answer a fool according to his foolishness, so that he may not be wise in his own eyes. 6 He who sends a message by the hand of a fool cuts off the feet and drinks down damage. 7 The legs of the lame are not equal; so is a parable in the mouth of fools. 8 As he who binds a stone in a sling, so is he who gives honor to a fool. 9 As a thorn goes up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools. 10 Great is the Former of all, but he who hires a fool is like one who hires one passing by. 11 As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool returns to his folly. 12 Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him. 13 The lazy one says, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets. 14 As the door turns upon its hinges, so does the lazy man turn upon his bed. 15 The lazy man hides his hand in his bosom; it grieves him to bring it again to his mouth. 16 The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who can give a reason. 17 He who passes by enraging himself over strife not his own is like one who takes a dog by the ears, 18 or like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows, and death. 19 so is the man who deceives his neighbor and says, Am I not joking? 20 Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; and where there is no talebearer, the fighting ceases. 21 As coals to burning coals, and wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome man to kindle fighting. 22 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. 23 Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a broken piece of pottery with silver waste. 24 He who hates pretends with his lips and stores up deceit within him. 25 When he makes his voice gracious, do not believe him; for seven hateful things are in his heart. 26 He whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shown before the congregation. 27 Whoever digs a pit shall fall into it; and he who rolls a stone, it will turn back to him. 28 A lying tongue hates those afflicted by it, and a flattering mouth works ruin.

Or has he given us any gift? 43 And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we also have more right in David than you. But Mordecai did not bow nor worship. 3 And the king's servants in the king's gate said to Mordecai, Why do you transgress the king's command? 4 And it happened when they spoke daily to him, and when he did not listen to them, they told Haman, to see if Mordecai's matters would stand. For he had told them that he was a Jew. 5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow nor worship him, then Haman was full of wrath. 6 And he scorned to lay hands only on Mordecai, for they had revealed to him the people of Mordecai. And Haman sought to destroy all the Jews throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, the people of Mordecai. 7 In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, the month Adar. 8 And Haman said to King Ahasuerus, There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people, in all the provinces of your kingdom. And their laws are different from all people, neither do they keep the king's laws. And it is not for the king's gain to allow them to live. 9 If it pleases the king, let it be written that they may be destroyed. And I will pay ten thousand talents of silver to the hands of those who have charge of the business, to bring it into the king's treasuries. 10 And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it to Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy. 11 And the king said to Haman, The silver is given to you, the people also, to do with them as seems good to you. 12 Then the king's scribes were called on the thirteenth day of the first month, and there was written according to all that Haman had commanded to the king's lieutenants, and to the governors who were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province, according to the writing of it, and to every people according to their language. It was written in the name of King Ahasuerus and sealed with the king's ring. 13 And the letters were sent by postal riders into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the thirteenth of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take what they owned for a prize. 14 The copy of the writing, for a command to be given in every province, was published to all people, to be ready for that day. 15 The posts went out, being hurried by the king's command, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. 9 In you are men of slander to shed blood; and in you they eat on the mountains; in your midst they do unchaste acts.

Ezekiel 33:31

31 And they come to you as the people come, and they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words. But they will not do them. For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their unjust gain.

Matthew 7:4-5

4 Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the splinter out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First cast the beam out of your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to cast the splinter out of your brother's eye.

Matthew 12:45

45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and live there. And the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so it also shall be to this evil generation.

Matthew 15:1-3

1 Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, 2 Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread. 3 But He answered and said to them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

Matthew 16:1-4

1 The Pharisees and the Sadducees came to Him, tempting Him. And they asked Him that He would show them a sign from Heaven. 2 He answered and said to them, When it is evening, you say, Fair weather; for the sky is red. 3 And in the morning, Foul weather today; for the sky is red and gloomy. Hypocrites! You can discern the face of the sky, but you cannot see the signs of the times! 4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign. And there shall no sign be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah. And He left them and went away.

Matthew 21:23-27

23 And when He had come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him as He was teaching, and said, By what authority do you do these things? And who gave you this authority? 24 And Jesus answered and said to them, I will also ask you one thing; which if you tell Me, I likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things. 25 The baptism of John, where was it from? From Heaven or from men? And they reasoned within themselves, saying, If we shall say, From Heaven, he will say to us, Why then did you not believe him? 26 But if we shall say From men, we fear the people; for all consider John as a prophet. 27 And they answered Jesus and said, We cannot tell. And He said to them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.

Matthew 21:31

31 Which of the two did the will of his father? They said to Him, The first. Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you that the tax-collectors and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

Matthew 22:15-32

15 Then the Pharisees left and took counsel that they might entangle Him in words. 16 And they sent their disciples out to Him along with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that you are true, and that you teach the way of God in truth. Nor do you care for anyone, for you do not regard the person of men. 17 Therefore tell us; what do you think? Is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not? 18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why do you tempt Me, hypocrites? 19 Show Me the tribute money. And they brought a denarius to Him. 20 And He said to them, Whose image and inscription is this? 21 They said to Him, Caesar's. Then He said to them, Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's. 22 When they heard these words, they marveled, and they left Him and went away. 23 On that day the Sadducees came to Him, who say that there is no resurrection. And they asked Him, 24 saying, Master, Moses said, If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife and raise up seed to his brother. 25 Now there were with us seven brothers. And the first, when he had married a wife, died. And, having no issue, he left his wife to his brother. 26 The second also did likewise, and the third, to the seventh. 27 And last of all the woman also died. 28 Therefore in the resurrection, whose wife shall she be, of the seven? For they all had her. 29 Jesus answered and said to them, You err, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in Heaven. 31 But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying, 32 "I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?" God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Matthew 23:27

Luke 12:14

14 And He said to him, Man, who made Me a judge or a divider over you? 15 And He said to them, Watch and keep yourselves from covetousness. For a man's life is not in the abundance of the things which he possesses. 16 And He spoke a parable to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully. 17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room in which to store my fruits? 18 And he said, I will do this. I will pull down my barns and build bigger ones, and I will store all my fruits and my goods there. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat drink and be merry. 20 But God said to him, Fool! This night your soul shall be required of you, then whose shall be those things which you have prepared? 21 So is he who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.

Luke 13:23-30

23 And one said to Him, Lord, are the ones being saved few? And He said to them, 24 Strive to enter in at the narrow gate. For I say to you, many will seek to enter in and shall not be able. 25 And once the Master of the house has risen up and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us, and He shall answer and say to you, I do not know you; from where are you; 26 then you shall begin to say, We ate and drank in Your presence, and You have taught in our streets. 27 But He shall say, I tell you, I do not know you; from where you are. Depart from Me, all workers of unrighteousness! 28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you will see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and yourselves being thrust out. 29 And they will come from the east and the west, and from the north and the south, and will recline in the kingdom of God. 30 And behold, there are last ones which will be first, and there are first ones which will be last.

John 8:44-49

44 You are of the Devil as father, and the lusts of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I say the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God's Words. Therefore you do not hear them because you are not of God. 48 Then the Jews answered and said to Him, Do we not say well that you are a Samaritan and have a demon? 49 Jesus answered, I do not have a demon, but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me.

John 9:26-33

26 Then they said to him again, What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes? 27 He answered them, I have told you already, and you did not hear. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you also desire to be His disciples? 28 Then they reviled him and said, You are his disciple, but we are Moses' disciples. 29 We know that God spoke to Moses, but we do not know from where this man is. 30 The man answered and said to them, Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know from where He is, and He has opened my eyes. 31 But we know that God does not hear sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him. 32 From everlasting it was not heard that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind. 33 If this One were not of God, He could do nothing.

John 10:32-33

John 15:22-24

22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have had sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which no other did, they would not have had sin. But now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father.

For Christ also suffered on our behalf, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps, 22 He who did no sin, nor was guile found in His mouth, 23 who when He was reviled did not revile in return. When He suffered, He did not threaten, but gave Himself up to Him who judges righteously.
