¹² The wicked desires the net of evils; but the root of the righteous yields fruit.

³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivulets of water that brings forth its fruit in its seasons, and its leaf shall not wither, and all which he does shall be blessed.

¹⁵ The nations have sunk down in the pit that they made; their foot is caught in the net which they hid.

⁹ He lies in wait secretly, like a lion in his den. He lies in wait to catch the poor; he catches the poor when he draws him into his net.

¹⁷ Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird, ¹⁸ And they lie in wait for their own blood; they watch secretly for their own lives. ¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone who gains unjust gain; it takes away its owners' life.

¹⁵ The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the ruin of the poor is their poverty.

⁵ A man who flatters his neighbor spreads a net for his feet. ⁶ In the sin of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous sings and rejoices.

⁶ He shall cause those who come from Jacob to take root; Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.

³¹ The remnant that has escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward;

²⁶ For among My people are found wicked ones; they lie in wait, as one who sets snares; they set a trap, they catch men. ²⁷ Like a cage full of birds, so their houses are full of deceit; therefore they have become great and grown rich. ²⁸ They have become fat, they shine. Yes, they go past the deeds of the wicked; they do not judge the cause, the cause of the fatherless, that they may get rich; and they do not judge the right of the needy.

⁷ Blessed is the man who trusts in Jehovah, and Jehovah is his trust. ⁸ For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters; it sends out its roots by the river, and it shall not fear when the heat comes, but its foliage shall be green; and he is not worried in the year of drought, nor will it cease from yielding fruit.

² The pious has perished from the earth, and there is none upright among men. For they all lie in wait for blood; each one hunts his brother with a net.

¹⁵ He takes up all of them with the hook; he drags him with his net and gathers him with his seine; therefore he rejoices and exults. ¹⁶ So he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his seine; because by them his portion is fat and his food rich. ¹⁷ Shall he then empty his net, and shall he not spare to continually slay nations?

¹³ Those on the rock are the ones who, when they hear, receive the Word with joy. And these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. ¹⁴ And those which fell among thorns are the ones who, when they have heard, go forth and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of life, and do not bear to maturity. ¹⁵ But those on the good ground are the ones who, in an honest and good heart, having heard the Word, keep it and bring forth fruit with patience.

⁵ I am the Vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.

¹⁶ You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it to you.

²² But now, being made free from sin, and having become slaves to God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end everlasting life.
