¹ And the chief fathers of the families of the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near and spoke before Moses, and before the rulers, the chief fathers of the sons of Israel. ² And they said, Jehovah commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the sons of Israel. And my lord was commanded by Jehovah to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters. ³ And if they are married to any of the sons of the tribes of the sons of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers and shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe to which they are received. So it shall be taken from the lot of our inheritance. ⁴ And when the jubilee of the sons of Israel shall come, then their inheritance shall be put to the inheritance of the tribe into which they are received. So their inheritance shall be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers. ⁵ And Moses commanded the sons of Israel according to the word of Jehovah saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph has said well. ⁶ This is the thing which Jehovah commands concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry to whom they think best. Only they shall marry into the family of the tribe of their father. ⁷ So the inheritance of the sons of Israel shall not be moved from tribe to tribe. For every one of the sons of Israel shall keep himself to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers. ⁸ And every daughter that possesses an inheritance in any tribe of the sons of Israel shall become a wife to one of the family of the tribe of her father, so that the sons of Israel may each one enjoy the inheritance of his fathers. ⁹ And the inheritance shall not move from one tribe to another tribe. But every one of the tribes of the sons of Israel shall keep himself to his own inheritance. ¹⁰ Even as Jehovah commanded Moses, so the daughters of Zelophehad did. ¹¹ For Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married to their father's brothers' sons. ¹² They were married into the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph, and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father. ¹³ These are the commandments and the judgments which Jehovah commanded by the hand of Moses to the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab beside Jordan, at Jericho.

³ And I will make you swear by Jehovah, the God of Heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell.

⁵⁷ And they said, We will call the young woman and inquire at her mouth. ⁵⁸ And they called Rebekah, and said to her, Will you go with this man? And she said, I will go.

³⁷ This is the law of the burnt offering, of the food offering, and of the sin offering, and of the trespass offering, and of the consecrations, and of the sacrifices of the peace offerings, ³⁸ which Jehovah commanded Moses in Mount Sinai, in the day that He commanded the sons of Israel to offer their sacrifices to Jehovah, in the wilderness of Sinai.

⁴⁶ This is the law of the animals, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moves in the waters, and of every creature that swarms on the earth,

⁵⁹ This is the law of the plague of leprosy in a garment of woolen or linen, either in the warp or woof or anything of skins, to pronounce it clean or to pronounce it unclean.

⁵⁴ This is the law for all kinds of plague of leprosy and scab, ⁵⁵ and for the leprosy of a garment and of a house, ⁵⁶ and for a rising and for a scab and for a bright spot, ⁵⁷ to teach when it is unclean and when it is clean. This is the law of leprosy.

³² This is the law of him that has an issue, and of him whose semen goes from him and is defiled with it, ³³ and of her that is menstruating, and of him that has an issue, of the man, and of the woman, and of him that lies with an unclean woman.

²³ And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel that they should bring the despiser outside the camp, and stone him with stones. And the sons of Israel did as Jehovah commanded Moses.

¹⁰ And you shall make the fiftieth year holy, one year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee to you, and you shall return each man to his possession, and you shall return each man to his family. ¹¹ That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee to you. You shall not sow, neither reap that which grows of itself in it, nor gather in it of your undressed vine. ¹² For it is the jubilee. It shall be holy to you. You shall eat the increase of it out of the field. ¹³ In the year of this jubilee you shall return each man to his possession. ¹⁴ And if you sell anything to your neighbor, or buy from your neighbor's hand, you shall not oppress one another. ¹⁵ According to the number of years after the jubilee you shall buy of your neighbor, according to the number of years of the fruits he shall sell to you. ¹⁶ According to the number of years you shall increase the price of it, and according to the fewness of years you shall diminish the price of it, for he is selling to you the number of crops. ¹⁷ And you shall not oppress one another. But you shall fear your God. For I am Jehovah your God. ¹⁸ And you shall do My statutes, and keep My judgments and do them. And you shall dwell in the land in safety.

²³ The land shall not be sold forever; for the land is Mine. For you are strangers and pilgrims with Me.

⁴⁶ These are the statutes and judgments and laws, which Jehovah made between Him and the sons of Israel in Mount Sinai by the hand of Moses.

And Machir fathered Gilead; of Gilead, the family of the Gileadites; ³⁰ these are the sons of Gilead: of Jeezer, the family of the Jeezerites; of Helek, the family of the Helekites. ³¹ And of Asriel, the family of the Asrielites; and of Shechem, the family of the Shechemites; ³² and of Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites; and of Hepher, the family of the Hepherites. ³³ And Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters. And the names of the daughters of Zelophehad: Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah;

You shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brothers. And you shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.

³ And Naboth said to Ahab, Far be it from me, by Jehovah, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you.

¹⁴ The sons of Manasseh: Ashriel, the son born to his Syrian concubine with Machir the father of Gilead, ¹⁵ and Machir took a wife for Huppim and for Shuppim; and the name of his sister was Maachah. And the name of the second was Zelophehad. And Zelophehad had daughters. ¹⁶ And Maachah the wife of Machir bore a son, and she called his name Peresh. And the name of his brother was Sheresh, and his sons were Ulam and Rakem.

²² And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but had daughters. And their brothers, the sons of Kish, took them.

² to preach the acceptable year of Jehovah and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;

²⁰ teaching them to observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you all the days until the end of the world. Amen.

¹⁸ "The Spirit of the Lord is on Me; because of this He has anointed Me to proclaim the Gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and new sight to the blind, to set at liberty those having been crushed, ¹⁹ to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."

¹⁴ Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship does righteousness have with lawlessness? And what partnership does light have with darkness?
