¹⁸ Their heart cried to Jehovah. O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a torrent day and night; give yourself no rest. Let not the daughter of your eye cease.

¹⁶ Jehovah, in trouble they have visited You; they poured out a prayer; Your chastening was on them. ¹⁷ As a woman with child draws near to bear, she is in pain and cries out in her pangs; so have we been in Your sight, O Jehovah.

³¹ For I have heard a voice as of a woman in labor, the anguish as one bearing her first child, the voice of Zion's daughter, gasping and spreading her hands, saying, Woe to me now! For my soul faints because of murderers.

¹ Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!

¹⁷ So says Jehovah of Hosts, Think carefully, and call for the wailers, that they may come. And send for the wise women, that they may come; ¹⁸ and let them make haste and take up a weeping for us, so that our eyes may run down with tears, and waters flow from our eyelids.

¹⁷ But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride. And my eye shall weep sore and run down with tears, because Jehovah's flock was captured.

¹⁷ And you shall speak this word to them: Let my eyes run down with tears night and day, and do not let them cease. For the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great break, with a very grievous blow.

² She bitterly weeps in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; among all her lovers, she has none to comfort her. All her friends have dealt deceitfully with her; they became her enemies.

¹⁶ For these I weep; my eye, my eye runs down with water, because the comforter who could refresh my soul is far from me. My sons are desolated because the enemy prevails.

⁸ Jehovah purposed to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion; He has stretched out a line; He has not withdrawn His hand from swallowing, and He made rampart and wall lament; they languish together.

⁴⁸ Streams of water run down my eye for the ruin of the daughter of my people. ⁴⁹ My eye flows out and does not cease, from there being no intermission,

¹⁴ And they have not cried to Me with their heart, when they howled on their beds; they gather themselves for grain and wine, and they rebel against Me.

¹¹ For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.
