² Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their evil has come up before Me.

¹¹ Out of that land he went forth to Asshur. And he built Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,

²⁰ And Jehovah said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous, ²¹ I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which has come to Me. And if not, I will know.

³⁶ And Sennacherib king of Assyria departed. And he went and returned and lived at Nineveh.

⁶ And I said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to You, my God. For our iniquities have increased over our heads, and our guiltiness has grown up to the heavens.

¹ Cry aloud, do not spare, lift up your voice like a ram's horn, and show My people their rebellion, and the house of Jacob their sins.

⁷ But Jehovah said to me, Do not say, I am a boy; for you shall go to all that I shall send you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. ⁸ Do not be afraid of their faces; for I am with you to deliver you, says Jehovah. ⁹ And Jehovah put forth His hand, and touched my mouth. And Jehovah said to me, Behold, I have put My Words in your mouth. ¹⁰ Behold! I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

⁷ And you shall speak My Words to them, whether they will hear or whether they will forbear, for they are rebellious.

⁵ For you are not sent to a people of a deep lip and of a difficult language, but to the house of Israel; ⁶ not to many people of a deep lip and of a difficult language, whose words you cannot hear. Surely, if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you. ⁷ But the house of Israel will not listen to you, for they will not listen to Me; for all the house of Israel are strong of forehead and hard of heart. ⁸ Behold, I have made your face strong against their faces and your forehead strong against their foreheads. ⁹ I have made your forehead as an adamant harder than flint. Do not be bowed down by their faces, though they are a rebellious house.

² Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out to it the proclamation that I am declaring to you.

¹¹ And should I not spare Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than a hundred and twenty thousand men who do not know between their right and their left hand, besides much cattle?

⁸ But I am full of power by the Spirit of Jehovah, and justice, and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

¹ The scattering one is coming up against your face. Guard the rampart. Watch the way, make your loins strong, firm up your power mightily. ² For Jehovah has turned away the glory of Jacob, as the glory of Israel. For the plunderers have plundered them, and have destroyed their vine branches. ³ The shield of his mighty ones has become red; the mighty men are in scarlet; the chariots flame like iron torches in the day of his preparation. And the cypresses are made to quiver.

¹³ And He will stretch out His hand against the north and destroy Assyria, and will make Nineveh a desert and dry like a desert. ¹⁴ And flocks shall lie down in her midst, all the beasts of a nation; both the pelican and the bittern shall roost in the capitals of its pillars; a voice shall sing at the window, ruin shall be at the doorsill, for he will bare the cedar-work. ¹⁵ This is the rejoicing city, dwelling confidently, who says in her heart, I am, and no other still is. How she has become a ruin, a resting-place for animals! Everyone who passes by her shall hiss; he shall wag his hand.

¹⁸ And you shall be brought before governors and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them and the nations.

⁴ Behold, the hire of the laborers reaping your fields cry out, being kept back by you. And the cries of those who have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts.

⁵ For her sins joined together, even up to Heaven, and God has remembered her unjust deeds.
