³⁶ So Jehovah says this: Behold, I will plead your cause and take vengeance for you; and I will dry up her sea and make her springs dry.

³⁵ Vengeance and retribution belong to Me. Their foot shall slide in time, for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come on them make haste.

⁴³ Rejoice, O, nations, with His people; for He will avenge the blood of His servants, and will render vengeance to His foes and will be merciful to His land, to His people.

¹ O God of vengeance, Jehovah, the God of vengeance, shine forth! ² Lift up Yourself, Judge of the earth; give a just repayment to the proud. ³ How long shall the wicked, O Jehovah, how long shall the wicked exult?

³³ He sets rivers to a wilderness and water-springs to thirsty ground;

¹² I know that Jehovah will maintain the cause of the afflicted and the right of the poor.

²³ for Jehovah will plead their cause, and strip the soul of those who plunder them.

¹¹ for their Redeemer is mighty; He shall plead their cause with you.

¹⁴ So says Jehovah, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all of them as fugitives, and the Chaldeans, whose shout is in the ships.

²⁷ who says to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up your rivers;

⁶ I was angry with My people, I have polluted My inheritance, and given them into your hand. You showed them no mercy; you have very heavily laid your yoke on the aged. ⁷ And you said, I shall be a mistress forever; so you did not lay these things to your heart, nor remembered the latter end of it. ⁸ Now then hear this, O pleasure seeker, who lives carelessly; who says in her heart, I am, and none else is; I shall not sit as a widow, nor shall I know the loss of children. ⁹ But these two things shall come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood. They shall come on you in their fullness for the multitude of your sorceries, and for the great power of your enchantments.

²⁵ But so says Jehovah, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the fearful ones shall escape. For I will contend with him who contends with you, and I will save your sons. ²⁶ And I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh; and they shall be drunk with their own blood, as with sweet wine; and all flesh shall know that I Jehovah am your Savior and your Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.

³³ So says Jehovah of Hosts: The sons of Israel and the sons of Judah were oppressed together. And all who captured them held them fast; they refused to let them go. ³⁴ Their Redeemer is strong; Jehovah of Hosts, is His name. He shall thoroughly plead their cause, so that he may give rest to the land, and give trouble to the people of Babylon.

³⁸ A drought is on her waters; and they shall be dried up. For it is the land of idols, and they act madly with idols.

⁶ Flee out of the middle of Babylon, and each man deliver his soul. Be not cut off in her iniquity, for this is the time of Jehovah's vengeance; He will give to her a just reward.

⁸ Rejoice not against me, my enemy; for if I fall, I shall arise; for if I sit in darkness, Jehovah shall be a light to me. ⁹ I will bear the fury of Jehovah, because I have sinned against Him, until He pleads my cause and brings out judgment for me. He will bring me out to the light, and I shall behold His righteousness. ¹⁰ Then my enemy shall see it; and shame shall cover her who said to me, Where is Jehovah your God? My eyes shall behold her; now she shall be trampled like the mud of the streets.

⁸ Because you have stripped many nations, all the rest of the people shall strip you; because of men's blood, and the violence of the land, of the city, and of all who dwell in it. ⁹ Woe to him who robs evil booty for his house, to set his nest on high, to be delivered from the hand of evil! ¹⁰ You have planned shame to your house, to make an end of many people, and are sinning in your soul. ¹¹ For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it. ¹² Woe to him who builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity! ¹³ Behold, is it not for Jehovah of Hosts that the people labor only for fire; yea, the nations weary themselves only for vanity? ¹⁴ For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Jehovah, as the waters cover the sea. ¹⁵ Woe to him who gives his neighbor drink, pouring out your wineskin, and also making him drunk, that you may look on their nakedness! ¹⁶ You are filled with shame instead of glory; drink also, and be seen as one uncircumcised! The cup of Jehovah's right hand shall turn on you, and disgrace shall be your glory. ¹⁷ For the violence of Lebanon shall cover you, and the ruin of beasts shall terrify them because of the blood of man, and the violence of the land, the city, and all those dwelling in it.

¹⁹ not avenging yourselves, beloved, but giving place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord."

³⁰ For we know Him who has said, "Vengeance belongs to Me, I will repay, says the Lord." And again, "The Lord shall judge His people." ³¹ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

¹² And the sixth angel poured out his vial on the great river Euphrates. And its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the rising of the sun might be prepared.

¹ And after these things I heard a great sound of a numerous crowd in Heaven, saying, Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and honor and the power to the Lord our God! ² For true and righteous are His judgments. For He has judged the great harlot who defiled the earth with her fornication, and He has avenged the blood of His servants out of her hand. ³ And secondly they said, Hallelujah! And her smoke rose up forever and ever.
