¹⁴ Therefore do not listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon. For they prophesy a lie to you.

²² And Jehovah said to him, With what? And he said, I will go forth and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And He said, You shall entice him and succeed also. Go forth and do so. ²³ And now, behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets, and Jehovah has spoken evil concerning you.

¹⁰ For precept must be on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; ¹¹ for with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people. ¹² To whom He said, This is the rest; cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing. Yet they were not willing to hear. ¹³ But the Word of Jehovah was to them precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken and snared and taken.

¹⁴ And Jehovah said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in My name; I did not send them, nor have I commanded them, nor did I speak to them. They prophesy to you a false vision and a worthless divination, and a thing of no value, and the deceit of their heart.

²¹ I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran; I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.

²⁵ I have heard what the prophets said, who prophesy lies in My name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.

⁹ As for you, do not listen to your prophets, nor to your fortune tellers, nor to your dreamers, nor to your conjurers, nor to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon. ¹⁰ For they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out and you should perish.

¹⁵ Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah. Jehovah has not sent you, but you make this people to trust in a lie.

⁸ For so says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your fortune-tellers in your midst deceive you, nor listen to your dreams which you dream. ⁹ For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them, says Jehovah.

⁶ They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, Jehovah says. And Jehovah has not sent them; but they hoped to confirm their word. ⁷ Did you not see a vain vision, and speak a lying divination? Yet you say, Jehovah says; although I have not spoken? ⁸ Therefore so says the Lord Jehovah: Because you have spoken vanity and seen a lie, therefore, behold, I am against you, says the Lord Jehovah. ⁹ And My hand shall be against the prophets who see vanity and who divine a lie. They shall not be in the council of My people, nor shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah. ¹⁰ Because, even because they made My people go astray, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and he builds a wall, and lo, others daubed it with lime. ¹¹ Say to those who daub with lime, yes, it shall fall; there will be a flooding rain; and you, O hailstones, shall fall, and a stormy wind will break. ¹² And, behold, when the wall has fallen, shall it not be said to you, Where is the daubing with which you have daubed? ¹³ Therefore so says the Lord Jehovah: I will even break it with a stormy wind in My fury. And there shall be a flooding rain in My anger, and hailstones in fury to destroy it. ¹⁴ And I will break down the wall that you have daubed with lime, and touch it to the ground; yea, I will bare its base. And it shall fall, and you shall be destroyed in her midst; and you shall know that I am Jehovah. ¹⁵ And I will fulfill My wrath on the wall and on those who daubed it with lime. And I will say to you, The wall is no more; and, Those who daubed are no more;

²² Because with lies you have saddened the heart of the righteous, whom I have not made sad; and have made the hands of the wicked strong, so that he should not turn from his wicked way, by promising him life; ²³ therefore you shall not see vanity, and you shall not divine any divination. And I will deliver My people out of your hands; and you shall know that I am Jehovah.

¹¹ If a man walks with wind and lies falsely, saying, I will drop words to you for wine and for strong drink, he shall even be a dropper of words for this people.

¹⁵ Beware of false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

¹³ For such ones are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. ¹⁴ Did not even Satan marvelously transform himself into an angel of light? ¹⁵ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

² Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision party.

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who secretly will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction. ² And many will follow their pernicious ways, and because of them the way of truth will be evil spoken of. ³ And through covetousness they will use you for gain with well-turned words; for whom judgment from of old does not linger, and their destruction does not sleep.

¹ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits to see if they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
