¹ In those days Hezekiah was sick to death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, came to him and said to him, So says Jehovah, Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live. ² Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to Jehovah, ³ and said, Remember now, O Jehovah, I beseech You, how I have walked before You in truth and with a whole heart, and have done the good in Your sight. And I will defend this city. ⁷ And this shall be a sign to you from Jehovah that Jehovah will do this thing that He has spoken: ⁸ behold, I will bring again the shadow of the steps, which has gone down in the sun dial of Ahaz, ten steps backward. So the sun returned ten steps, by which steps it had gone down. ⁹ The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick and had recovered from his sickness: ¹⁰ I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave; I have numbered the rest of my years. ¹¹ I said, I shall not see Jah, Jehovah, in the land of the living; I shall look on man no more with the people of the world. ¹² My generation is departed and removed from me like a shepherd's tent; I have cut off my life like a weaver; He will cut me off from the loom; from day even to night You will make an end of me. ¹³ I place Him before me until morning, that, as a lion, so He breaks all my bones; from day even until night You make an end of me. ¹⁴ Like a twittering swallow, so I chatter; I mourn as a dove; my eyes look weakly to the heights. O Jehovah, I am pressed down; be surety for me. ¹⁵ What shall I say? He has spoken to me, and He Himself has acted; I shall go softly all my years in the bitterness of my soul. ¹⁶ O Jehovah, by these things men live, and in all these is the life of my spirit; so You will recover me, and make me to live. ¹⁷ Behold, I had great bitterness for peace; but You loved my soul from the pit of destruction. You have cast all my sins behind Your back. ¹⁸ For the grave cannot praise You, death can not rejoice in You; they who go down into the pit cannot hope for Your truth. ¹⁹ The living, the living, he shall praise You, as I do this day; the father shall make Your truth known to the sons. ²⁰ For Jehovah is for my salvation; and we will sing my songs on the stringed instruments all the days of our life in the house of Jehovah. ²¹ For Isaiah had said, Let them take a cake of figs and rub it on the ulcer; and he will live. ²² And Hezekiah said, What is the sign that I shall go up to the house of Jehovah?

⁹ These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.

You sent forth Your wrath, consuming them like stubble. ⁸ And with the blast of Your nostrils the waters were gathered together; the floods stood upright like a heap; the depths were curdled in the heart of the sea. ⁹ The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them, I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them. ¹⁰ You blew with Your wind; the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters. ¹¹ Who is like You, O Jehovah, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? ¹² You stretched out Your right hand, the earth swallowed them. ¹³ You in Your mercy have led forth the people which You have redeemed. You have guided them in Your strength to Your holy habitation. ¹⁴ The people shall hear, being afraid. Sorrow shall take hold on the people of Philistia. ¹⁵ Then the princes of Edom were terrified. Trembling seized upon the mighty men of Moab. All the people of Canaan shall melt away. ¹⁶ Fear and dread shall fall upon them. By the greatness of Your arm they shall be still as a stone, until Your people pass over, O Jehovah; until the people whom You have purchased pass over. ¹⁷ You shall bring them and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, the place, O Jehovah, You have made for You to dwell in; the Sanctuary, O Jehovah, which Your hands have established. ¹⁸ Jehovah shall reign forever and ever. ¹⁹ For the horses of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and Jehovah brought again the waters of the sea upon them. But the sons of Israel went on dry land in the middle of the sea. ²⁰ And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand. And all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. ²¹ And Miriam answered them, Sing to Jehovah, for He has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider He has thrown into the sea.

³³ They and all that they had went down alive into Sheol, and the earth closed upon them. And they perished from among the congregation.

⁹ Only take heed to yourself and keep your soul carefully, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. But teach them to your sons, and your sons' sons.

⁷ And you shall carefully teach them to your sons, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up.

¹⁸ And you shall do the right and good in the sight of Jehovah, so that it may be well with you, and so that you may go in and possess the good land which Jehovah swore to your fathers,

³ And He humbled you and allowed you to hunger, and then He fed you with manna, which you did not know, neither did your fathers know it, so that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of Jehovah man shall live.

¹⁹ And you shall teach them to your sons, speaking of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

³⁹ See now that I, I am He, and there is no god with me. I kill, and I make alive; I wound and I heal; and there is no deliverer out of My hand.

⁸ O, Lord, what shall I say when Israel turns their backs before their enemies?

I, even I, will sing to Jehovah, I will sing to Jehovah, the God of Israel. ⁴ Jehovah, when You went out of Seir, when You marched out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water. ⁵ The mountains quaked from before Jehovah, even that Sinai from before Jehovah, the God of Israel. ⁶ In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were empty, and the travelers walked through crooked ways. ⁷ The leaders ceased in Israel, they ceased until I, Deborah, arose; until I arose, a mother in Israel. ⁸ They chose new gods; then war was in the gates. Was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel? ⁹ My heart is toward the lawgivers of Israel who offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless Jehovah. ¹⁰ Speak, you who ride on white asses, you who sit in judgment and walk by the way. ¹¹ Louder than the voice of the dividers between the watering places, there shall they tell again the righteous acts of Jehovah, the righteous acts of His leaders in Israel. ¹⁷ And he said to Him, If now I have found grace in Your sight, then show me a sign that You talk with me. ¹⁸ Do not depart from here, I pray, until I come to You, and bring forth my food offering and set it before You. And He said, I will stay until you come again. ¹⁹ And Gideon went in and made ready a kid and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour. He put the flesh in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out to Him to the oak, and offered it. ²⁰ And the Angel of God said to him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes and lay on this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so. ²¹ Then the Angel of Jehovah put forth the end of the staff that was in His hand and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the Angel of Jehovah went away out of his sight. ²² And when Gideon saw that He was the Angel of Jehovah, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord God! Because I have seen the Angel of Jehovah face to face.

³⁷ behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the grain-floor. And if the dew is on the fleece only, and dry upon all the ground, then I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said. ³⁸ And it was so. For he rose up early in the morning and gathered the fleece together, and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. ³⁹ And Gideon said to God, Let not Your anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once. I pray You, let me test but this once with the fleece. Let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.

He brings down to Sheol, and brings up. ⁷ Jehovah takes away, and He gives riches; He brings low; yea, He lifts up high. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust; He lifts up the needy from the dunghill to set them among princes; yea, He causes them to inherit a throne of honor; for to Jehovah are the pillars of the earth; and He sets the habitable world on them. ⁹ He keeps the feet of his saints, and the wicked are silenced in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. ¹⁰ The foes of Jehovah shall be broken to pieces. He thunders in the heavens upon them. Jehovah shall judge the ends of the earth. And He shall give strength to His king, and exalts the horn of His anointed.

³ And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in your heart, for Jehovah is with you. ⁴ And that night the Word of Jehovah came to Nathan saying, ⁵ Go and tell My servant David, So says Jehovah, Shall you build Me a house for My dwelling?

⁴ that Jehovah may continue His Word which He spoke concerning me, saying, If your sons take heed to their way, to walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul saying, there shall not be a man of yours cut off from the throne of Israel.

²⁵ And now, Jehovah, the God of Israel, keep with Your servant David, my father, what You promised him, saying, There shall not be cut off from you a man in My sight to sit on the throne of Israel-- if your sons take heed to their way so that they walk before Me as you have walked before Me.

³⁰ And You shall listen to the cry of Your servant, and of Your people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place, and hear in Heaven Your dwelling-place, and when You hear, forgive!

⁴ And if you will walk before Me as David your father walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you; and if you will keep My statutes and My judgments, ⁵ then I will establish the throne of your kingdom on Israel forever, as I promised to David your father, saying, There shall not be cut off to you a man on the throne of Israel.

¹² But I will not do it in your days, for David your father's sake, but I will tear it out of the hand of your son. ¹³ Only, I will not tear away all the kingdom, but I will give one tribe to your son for David My servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

And Hezekiah answered, They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing among my treasures which I have not shown to them. ¹⁶ And Isaiah said to Hezekiah, Hear the Word of Jehovah . ¹⁷ Behold, the days come when all that is in your house, and which your fathers have laid up in store until today, shall be carried into Babylon. Nothing shall be left, says Jehovah. ¹⁸ And of your sons which shall issue from you, which you shall father, they shall take away. And they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. ¹⁹ And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, Good is the Word of Jehovah which you have spoken. And he said, Is it not good if peace and truth are in my days? ²⁰ And the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made a pool and a conduit, and brought water into the city, are they not written in the Book of the Matters of the Days of the Kings of Judah? ²¹ And Hezekiah slept with his fathers. And Manasseh his son reigned in his place.

² And Nathan said to David, Do all that is in your heart, for God is with you. ³ And it happened the same night the Word of God came to Nathan, saying, ⁴ Go and tell David My servant, So says Jehovah, You shall not build Me a house to dwell in.

⁹ And the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to Jehovah. And David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

¹⁹ And give to Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies, and Your statutes, and to do all these things, and to build the magnificent house for which I have made ready.

⁹ For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro in all the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward Him. You have done foolishly in this; therefore from now on you shall have wars.

³⁰ And Hezekiah the king and the rulers commanded the Levites to sing praise to Jehovah with the words of David and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshiped.

³¹ But, in regard to the ambassadors of the rulers of Babylon who sent to him to ask about the wonder that was done in the land, God left him in order to try him, to know all that was in his heart.

³ For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek after the God of David his father. And in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherahs, and the carved images, and the molten images.

¹⁰ And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments

¹⁹ Think upon me, my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.

¹³ But the angel said to him, Do not fear, Zacharias. For your prayer is heard, and your wife Elizabeth shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

²⁶ And besides all this, there is a great chasm fixed between you and us; so that they desiring to pass from here to you cannot, nor can they pass over to us from there. ²⁷ And he said, I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house, ²⁸ for I have five brothers, so that he may testify to them, lest they also come into this place of torment. ²⁹ Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the Prophets, let them hear them. ³⁰ And he said, No, father Abraham, but if one should go to them from the dead, they would repent. ³¹ And he said to him, If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded, even though one rose from the dead.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him and said of him, Behold an Israelite indeed in whom is no guile!

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, Behold, you are made whole. Sin no more lest a worse thing come to you.

⁴ I must work the works of Him who sent Me, while it is day. Night comes when no man can work.

⁶ And when He had spoken these things, He spat on the ground and made clay from the spittle. And He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay.

¹ And there was a certain sick one, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. ² (And it was that Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) ³ Then his sisters sent to Him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick. ⁴ When Jesus heard, He said, This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God might be glorified by it. ⁵ And Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.

²⁷ And My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour? But for this cause I came to this hour.

³⁷ And it happened in those days, becoming sick, she died. And washing her, they laid her in an upper room.

²⁴ saying, Fear not, Paul! You must stand before Caesar. And behold! God has given you all those who sail with you.

³⁰ For this cause many among you are weak and sickly, and many sleep. ³¹ For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. ³² But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

⁹ But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, so that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;

¹² For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity; not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God; we have had our conduct in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

¹⁷ For the lightness of our present affliction works out for us a far more excellent eternal weight of glory,

¹ For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

⁴ For we who are in this tabernacle groan, being burdened; inasmuch as we do not wish to be unclothed, but to be clothed, so that the mortal might be swallowed up by the life.

⁶ But He who comforts the lowly comforted us by the coming of Titus.

²⁷ For indeed he was sick, coming near death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. ²⁸ Therefore I sent him the more eagerly, so that you may rejoice when you see him again, and that I may be the less sorrowful. ²⁹ Therefore receive him in the Lord with all gladness, and hold such in honor, ³⁰ because for the work of Christ he was near death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, that through me the preaching might be fulfilled, and that all the nations might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

¹² and as a covering You shall fold them up, and they shall be changed. But You are the same, and Your years shall not fail."

⁷ For Jesus, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications with strong cryings and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard in that He feared,

¹⁰ For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

¹⁰ For truly they chastened us for a few days according to their own pleasure, but He for our profit, that we might be partakers of His holiness. ¹¹ Now chastening for the present does not seem to be joyous, but grievous. Nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who are exercised by it.

¹⁴ who do not know of the morrow. For what is your life? For it is a vapor, which appears for a little time, and then disappears.

¹³ But I think it right, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by a reminder, ¹⁴ knowing that the putting off of my tabernacle is soon, as indeed our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.

²¹ Beloved, if our heart does not accuse us, we have confidence toward God. ²² And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

¹⁴ And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. ¹⁵ And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him.

¹⁷ For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne will feed them and will lead them to the fountains of living waters. And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.
