⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons, "My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by Him;

⁹ Only take heed to yourself and keep your soul carefully, lest you forget the things which your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. But teach them to your sons, and your sons' sons. ¹⁰ Remember the day that you stood before Jehovah your God in Horeb, when Jehovah said to me, Gather the people to Me, and I will make them hear My Words so that they may learn to fear Me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and they may teach their sons.

⁷ And Joshua said, Alas, O Lord God, why have You at all brought this people over Jordan to deliver us into the hands of the Amorites, to destroy us? And, oh that we had been content and lived on the other side Jordan! ⁸ O, Lord, what shall I say when Israel turns their backs before their enemies? ⁹ For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear, and shall surround us, and shall cut off our name from the earth. And what will You do for Your great name? ¹⁰ And Jehovah said to Joshua, Get up! Why do you lie on your face this way? ¹¹ Israel has sinned, and they have also broken My covenant which I commanded them, and have even taken of the cursed things, and have also stolen and pretended falsely. And they have even put it among their own stuff.

⁷ And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzzah. And God struck him there for the error. And he died there by the ark of God. ⁸ And David was displeased because Jehovah had broken forth upon Uzzah. And he called the name of the place The Break of Uzzah to this day. ⁹ And David was afraid of Jehovah that day, and said, How shall the ark of Jehovah come to me? ¹⁰ And David was not willing to bring the ark of Jehovah to him into the city of David. But David carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite, the Levite.

⁹ And when they came to the threshing-floor of Chidon, Uzza put out his hand to hold the ark for the oxen stumbled. ¹⁰ And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Uzza, and He struck him because he put his hand to the ark. And he died there before Jehovah. ¹¹ And David was displeased because Jehovah had made a break on Uzza. And he called that place The Breach of Uzza to this day. ¹² And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God to me? ¹³ And David did not bring the ark to himself to the City of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

¹² And he said to them, You are the heads of the fathers of the Levites. Sanctify yourselves, you and your brothers, so that you may bring up the ark of Jehovah, the God of Israel to the place which I have prepared for it. ¹³ For because you did not do it at the first, Jehovah our God made a break on us, since we did not seek Him in due order.

¹⁷ Behold, blessed is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. ¹⁸ For He makes sore, and binds up; He wounds, and His hands make whole.

³¹ For has any said to God, I have taken away; I will not pervert?

¹ To the Chief Musician, for eight-stringed instruments. A Psalm of David. O Jehovah, rebuke me not in Your anger, nor chasten me in the heat of Your fury. ² Have mercy on me, O Jehovah, for I am weak; O Jehovah, heal me, for my bones are troubled.

¹² Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O Jehovah, to teach him out of Your Law;

¹⁸ Jehovah has sorely chastened me; but He has not given me over to death.

¹⁶ I will delight myself in Your Precepts; I will not forget Your Word.

⁷⁵ I know, O Jehovah, that Your judgments are right, and that You have afflicted me in faithfulness.

⁸³ For I am like a wineskin in the smoke; I do not forget Your Precepts.

¹⁰⁹ My life is in my hand daily; yet I do not forget Your Law.

¹ My son, forget not my law; but let your heart keep my commandments;

¹¹ My son, do not despise the chastening of Jehovah; nor be weary with His correction; ¹² for whom Jehovah loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.

⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding; forget not; nor turn away from the words of my mouth.

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim mourning to himself, saying, You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bull not broken in; turn me, and I shall be turned. For You are Jehovah my God.

⁹ Do you not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many hand baskets you took up; ¹⁰ nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many lunch baskets you took up?

⁶ He is not here, but has risen. Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee,

⁸ And they remembered His words

³² But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

⁸ in every way having been troubled, but not having been hemmed in; having been perplexed, but not utterly at a loss; ⁹ having been persecuted, but not having been forsaken; having been thrown down, but not having been destroyed;

⁹ And He said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may overshadow me. ¹⁰ Therefore I am pleased in weaknesses, in insults, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am powerful.

³ For consider Him who endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest you be weary and faint in your minds. ⁴ You have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

⁷ If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons, for what son is he whom the father does not chasten?

¹² Blessed is the man who endures temptation, because having been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; therefore be zealous and repent.
