⁹ And God appeared to Jacob again when he came out of Padan-aram and blessed him.

And I said, Here I am. ¹² And He said, Lift up your eyes and see all the rams which leap upon the cattle, that they are striped, speckled, and mottled. For I have seen all that Laban is doing to you. ¹³ I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar, where you vowed a vow to Me. Now arise, get out from this land, and return to the land of your kindred.

¹ And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him.

²⁴ And Jacob was left alone. And a Man wrestled there with him until the breaking of the day. ²⁵ And when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the hollow of his thigh. And the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint as he wrestled with Him. ²⁶ And He said, Let Me go, for the day breaks. And he said, I will not let You go except You bless me. ²⁷ And He said to him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob. ²⁸ And He said, Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for like a prince you have power with God and with men, and have prevailed. ²⁹ And Jacob asked and said, I pray You, reveal Your name. And He said, Why do you ask after My name? And He blessed him there. ³⁰ And Jacob called the name of the place Face of God; for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

¹ And God said to Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and live there. And make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.

² And God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob! And he said, Here I am. ³ And He said, I am God, the God of your fathers. Do not fear to go down into Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation.

³ And Jacob said to Joseph, God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me. ⁴ And He said to me, Behold, I will make you fruitful and multiply you. And I will make of you a multitude of people, and will give this land to your seed after you for an everlasting possession.

³ Jehovah has appeared to me from afar, saying, Yea, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you.

⁴ Yes, he wept and cried to Him, and he had power over the Angel and overcame. He found him in Bethel, and there He spoke with us,

² And he said, Men, brothers, and fathers, listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he lived in Haran.
