⁵ And every shrub of the field was not yet on the earth, and every plant of the field had not yet sprung up, for Jehovah God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was no man to till the ground.

¹¹ And God said, Let the earth bring forth tender sprouts (the herb seeding seed and the fruit tree producing fruit after its kind, whose seed is in itself) upon the earth; and it was so. ¹² And the earth brought forth tender sprouts, the herb yielding seed after its kind, and the tree producing fruit after its kind, whose seed was in itself. And God saw that it was good.

²³ therefore Jehovah God sent him out from the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he had been taken.

² And she bore again, his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

¹² When you till the ground, it will not again give its strength to you. And you shall be a vagabond and a fugitive in the earth.

¹⁰ who gives rain on the earth and sends waters on the field,

²⁶ to cause rain to fall on the earth where no man is, a wilderness and no man in it; ²⁷ to satisfy the desolate and waste ground, and to cause the source of grass to spring forth? ²⁸ Has the rain a father? Or who has brought forth the drops of dew?

⁹ You visit the earth and water it; You greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; You provide their grain, for in this way You have prepared it. ¹⁰ You fill its terraces with water; You deepen its furrows; You make it soft with showers; You bless the sprouting of it. ¹¹ You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drop fatness.

¹⁴ He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and plants for the service of man, to bring forth food out of the earth,

⁷ He causes the vapors to rise from the end of the earth; He makes lightnings for the rain; He brings wind out of His storehouses.

²² Are there any among the vanities of the nations who make rain fall? Or can the heavens give showers? Is it not You, O Jehovah our God? Then we will wait on You; for You do all these things.

⁴⁵ so that you may become sons of your Father in Heaven. For He makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

⁷ (For the earth which drinks in the rain that comes often upon it, and brings forth plants fit for those by whom it is dressed, receives blessing from God.
