⁶ Even as Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.

⁶ And he believed in Jehovah. And He counted it to him for righteousness.

³ For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness." ⁴ But to him working, the reward is not reckoned according to grace, but according to debt. ⁵ But to him not working, but believing on Him justifying the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. ⁶ Even as David also says of the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness without works,

⁹ Is this blessedness then on the circumcision only, or on the uncircumcision also? For we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. ¹⁰ How then was it reckoned? Being in circumcision or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. ¹¹ And he received a sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith while still uncircumcised; so that he might be the father of all those believing through uncircumcision, for righteousness to be imputed to them also;

²¹ and being fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was also able to perform. ²² And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

²⁴ but for us also to whom it is to be imputed, to the ones believing on Him who has raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

³² Why? Because it was not of faith, but as it were by the works of the Law. For they stumbled at that Stumbling-stone; ³³ as it is written, "Behold, I lay in Zion a Stumbling-stone and a Rock-of-offense, and everyone believing on Him shall not be put to shame."

¹⁹ whereas God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and putting the word of reconciliation in us. ²⁰ Then we are ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as God exhorting through us, we beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. ²¹ For He has made Him who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

⁹ So then those of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

²³ And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God."
