² Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel. Prophesy and say to them, So says the Lord Jehovah to the shepherds: Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks?

² Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, you were he who led Israel out and brought them in. And Jehovah said to you, You shall feed My people Israel, and you shall be a leader over Israel.

⁷¹ from following the ewes great with young He brought him to feed Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance. ⁷² And he fed them according to the pureness of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

¹¹ He shall feed His flock like a shepherd; He shall gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and shall gently lead those with young.

⁸ The priests did not say, Where is Jehovah? And they who handle the Law did not know Me; the shepherds also rebelled against Me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things not profitable.

¹⁵ And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

²¹ For the pastors have become stupid, and have not sought Jehovah, therefore they shall not be blessed, and all their flocks shall be scattered.

¹⁰ Many shepherds have destroyed My vineyard; they have trampled My portion under foot; they have made My pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.

¹ Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture, says Jehovah.

¹⁹ And will you profane Me among My people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to kill the souls that should not die; and to save alive the souls that should not live, by your lying to My people who listen to lies.

²⁴ Son of man, those who live in those wastes of the land of Israel are speaking, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land. But we are many; the land is given to us for inheritance.

⁸ As I live, says the Lord Jehovah, surely because My flock became a prey, and My flock became food to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, nor did My shepherds search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock, ⁹ therefore, O shepherds, hear the Word of Jehovah. ¹⁰ So says the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand, and cause them to cease from feeding the flock. Nor shall the shepherds feed themselves any more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouth, and they will not be food to devour.

¹ And I said, Please hear, O heads of Jacob and magistrates of the house of Israel. Is it not for you to know justice? ² You who hate the good and love the evil; who pull their skin off them, and their flesh from their bones; ³ who also eat the flesh of My people, and strip their skin off them. And they break their bones and chop them in pieces, like that in the pot, like those in the middle of the kettle.

¹¹ Her heads judge for a bribe, and her priests teach for pay, and her prophets divine for silver, yet they will lean on Jehovah and say, Is not Jehovah among us? No evil can come on us! ¹² Therefore, on account of you, Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house into high places of the forest.

³ Her rulers within her are roaring lions; her judges evening wolves. They do not gnaw bones for the morning. ⁴ Her prophets are proud, men of deceit; her priests have defiled the sanctuary; they have done violence to the Law.

¹⁷ Woe to the worthless shepherd who abandons the flock! The sword shall be on his arm and on his right eye; his arm shall be completely dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My Lord delays His coming, ⁴⁹ and shall begin to strike his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken, ⁵⁰ the Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he does not look for Him, and in an hour which he does not know. ⁵¹ And He shall cut him apart and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁴² And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward whom his lord shall set over his houseservants, to give them their portion of food in season? ⁴³ Blessed is that servant when his lord comes and finds him so doing. ⁴⁴ Truly I say to you that he will set him over all his possessions. ⁴⁵ But if that servant says in his heart, My lord delays his coming, and shall begin to beat the male servants and women servants, and to eat and drink and to be drunk, ⁴⁶ the lord of that servant will come in a day when he does not expect, and at an hour when he does not know. And he will cut him apart, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

⁴⁶ Beware of the scribes who desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the first seats in the synagogues, and the chief places at the feasts; ⁴⁷ who devour widows' houses, and make long prayers for a show; the same shall receive a more severe condemnation.

¹ Truly, truly, I say to you, He who does not enter into the sheepfold by the door, but going up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber. ² But he who enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

¹¹ I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. ¹² But he who is a hireling and not the shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away. And the wolf catches them and scatters the sheep.

¹⁵ Then when they broke fast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You. He said to him, Feed My lambs. ¹⁶ He said to him the second time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me? He said to Him, Yes, Lord, You know that I love You. He said to him, Feed My sheep. ¹⁷ He said to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me? Peter was grieved because He said to him a third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know all things, You know that I love You. Jesus said to him, Feed My sheep.

²⁶ Therefore I testify to you on this day that I am pure from the blood of all.

²⁹ For I know this, that after my departure grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

¹⁸ For they who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches they deceive the hearts of the simple.

² Feed the flock of God among you, taking the oversight, not by compulsion, but willingly; nor for base gain, but readily; ³ nor as lording it over those allotted to you by God, but becoming examples to the flock. ⁴ And when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a never-fading crown of glory.

³ And through covetousness they will use you for gain with well-turned words; for whom judgment from of old does not linger, and their destruction does not sleep.
