⁶ And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places, and you have not returned to Me, says Jehovah.

²⁶ When I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight. And you shall eat and not be satisfied.

³⁸ You shall carry much seed out into the field, and shall gather little in, for the locust shall eat it.

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, of the sojourners of Gilead, said to Ahab, As Jehovah, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except according to my word.

² And Elijah went to be seen himself to Ahab. And there was a great famine in Samaria.

³⁸ And Elisha came again to Gilgal. And there was a famine in the land. And the sons of the prophets were sitting before him. And he said to his servant, Set on the great pot and boil pottage for the sons of the prophets.

¹ And Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise and go, you and your household, and live wherever you can live. For Jehovah has called for a famine. And it shall also come on the land seven years.

²² And in the time of his distress he trespassed even more against Jehovah, this King Ahaz.

¹ For behold, the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread and the whole stay of water,

¹³ For the people do not turn to Him who strikes them, nor do they seek Jehovah of Hosts.

¹¹ Jehovah, Your hand is lifted up, they will not see; but they shall see and be ashamed for their envy toward Your people. Yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.

³ O Jehovah, are not Your eyes on the truth? You have stricken them, but they have not grieved; You have destroyed them, but they have refused to receive correction; they have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to return.

⁵ Why has this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a never-ending backsliding? They hold fast to deceit; they refuse to return. ⁶ I listened and heard, but they did not speak right; no man repented of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? Everyone turned in their own courses, as the horse rushes into the battle. ⁷ Yea, the stork in the heavens knows her seasons; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow watch the time of their coming; but my people do not know the judgment of Jehovah.

²⁷ And, behold, therefore I have stretched out My hand over you, and drew back your portion. And I gave you to the will of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your wicked way.

¹⁵ I will go; I will return to My place until they confess their guilt and seek My face; in their affliction they will seek Me diligently.

¹⁴ And they have not cried to Me with their heart, when they howled on their beds; they gather themselves for grain and wine, and they rebel against Me. ¹⁵ Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet they think evil against Me. ¹⁶ They return, but not to the Most High. They are like a deceitful bow; their rulers shall fall by the sword from the rage of their tongue. This shall be their scorn in the land of Egypt.

¹² Yet even now, says Jehovah, turn to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning. ¹³ Yes, tear your heart and not your robes, and turn to Jehovah your God: for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and He pities because of the evil. ¹⁴ Who knows if He will turn and have pity and leave a blessing behind Him, a food offering and a drink offering to Jehovah your God?

⁸ So two or three cities wandered to one city to drink water, but they were not satisfied; yet you have not returned to Me, says Jehovah. ⁹ I have stricken you with blasting and mildew. When your gardens and your vineyards, and your fig trees. and your olive trees increased, the creeping locust devoured them; yet you have not returned to Me, says Jehovah.

¹⁷ I struck you with blight and with mildew, and with hail, in all the labors of your hands; yet you did not turn to Me, says Jehovah.

³ And you say to them, So says Jehovah of Hosts: Turn to Me, says Jehovah of Hosts, and I will turn to you, says Jehovah of Hosts. ⁴ Be not as your fathers, to whom the former prophets have proclaimed to them, saying, So says Jehovah of Hosts: Turn now from your evil ways and your evil doings. But they did not hear nor listen to Me, says Jehovah. ⁵ Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever? ⁶ But My Words and My statutes which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? And they returned and said, As Jehovah of Hosts planned to do to us, according to our ways and according to our doings, so He has done with us.

²¹ And I gave her time that she might repent of her fornication, and she did not repent.

²⁰ And the rest of the men who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and golden, and silver, and bronze, and stone, and wooden idols (which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk). ²¹ And they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

¹⁰ And the fifth angel poured out his vial on the throne of the beast, and its kingdom became darkened. And they gnawed their tongues from the pain. ¹¹ And they blasphemed the God of Heaven because of their pains and their sores. And they did not repent of their deeds.
