12 And when He was accused by the chief priests and elders, He answered nothing. 13 Then Pilate said to Him, Do you not hear how many things they witness against you? 14 And He did not answer him a word, so that the governor greatly marveled. 15 Now at that feast the governor was accustomed to release to the people a prisoner, whomever they desired. 16 And they then had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas. 17 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, Whom do you desire that I release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ? 18 For he knew they had delivered Him because of envy. 19 But as he was sitting down on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, Have nothing to do with that just man, for today because of Him I have suffered many things in a dream. 20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the crowd that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. 21 The governor answered and said to them, Which of the two do you desire that I release to you? They said, Barabbas. 22 Pilate said to them, What then shall I do with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all said to him, Let Him be crucified. 23 And the governor said, Why? What evil has He done? But they cried out the more, saying, let Him be crucified! 24 But when Pilate saw that it gained nothing, but rather that a tumult was made, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person. You see to it. 25 Then all the people answered and said, Let His blood be on us and on our children. 26 Then he released Barabbas to them. And when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.

And he said to the Jews, Behold your king! 15 But they cried out, Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him! Pilate said to them, Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. 16 Then he delivered Him up to them that He might be crucified. And they took Jesus and led Him away.
