²³ For as I passed by and saw the things you worship, I also found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Not knowing then whom you worship, I make Him known to you.

²¹ These things you have done, and I have kept silence; you thought that I was like yourself, but I will rebuke you, and set in order before your eyes.

²⁰ He has not done so with any nation; and they have not known His judgments. Praise Jehovah!

⁹ But in vain they worship Me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."

²² You worship what you do not know, we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.

⁵⁴ Jesus answered, If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who glorifies Me, of whom you say that He is your God.

³ And this is life eternal, that they might know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

²⁵ O righteous Father, indeed the world has not known You; but I have known You, and these have known that You have sent me.

³⁰ Truly, then, God overlooking the times of ignorance, now He strictly commands all men everywhere to repent,

²⁰ For the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being realized by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, for them to be without excuse. ²¹ Because, knowing God, they did not glorify Him as God, neither were thankful. But they became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. ²² Professing to be wise, they became fools ²³ and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds, and four-footed animals, and creeping things. ²⁴ Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves. ²⁵ For they changed the truth of God into a lie, and they worshiped and served the created thing more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

²⁸ And even as they did not think fit to have God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do the things not right,

²¹ For since, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom did not know God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe.

⁵ For though there are those who are called gods, whether in Heaven or in earth (as there are many gods and many lords),

⁴ in whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving ones, so that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ (who is the image of God) should not dawn on them. ⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For it is God who said, "Out of darkness Light shall shine;" who shone in our hearts to give the brightness of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

⁸ But then, indeed, not knowing God, you served as slaves to those not by nature being gods. ⁹ But now, knowing God, but rather are known by God, how do you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements to which you again desire to slave anew?

¹² and that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.

⁴ who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself forth, that he is God.

¹⁷ Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come, and He has given us an understanding so that we may know Him who is true. And we are in Him that is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and the everlasting life.
