³ For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but they will heap up teachers to themselves according to their own lusts, tickling the ear.

³³ And Jehovah said to Moses, Whoever has sinned against Me, I will blot him out of My book.

²² And Elijah said to the people, I, I alone, remain a prophet of Jehovah. But Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.

⁸ And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of Jehovah. But I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

¹⁸ And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell you that he would prophesy no good concerning me, but evil?

⁹ For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro in all the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward Him. You have done foolishly in this; therefore from now on you shall have wars. ¹⁰ And Asa was angry with the seer and put him in a prison-house. For he was in a rage with him because of this. And Asa oppressed some of the people at that time.

⁴ And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Please inquire at the Word of Jehovah today. ⁵ And the king of Israel gathered four hundred men of the prophets and said to them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I wait? And they said, Go up, for God will deliver it into the king's hand.

²⁰ And the Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, who stood above the people and said to them, So says God, Why do you transgress the commandments of Jehovah so that you cannot be blessed? Because you have forsaken Jehovah, He has also forsaken you. ²¹ And they conspired against him and stoned him with stones at the command of the king in the court of the house of Jehovah. ²² And Joash the king did not remember the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but killed his son. And when he died, he said, Jehovah will seek you out.

¹⁵ And the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Amaziah, and He sent to him a prophet who said to him, Why have you sought after the gods of the people which could not deliver their own people out of your hand? ¹⁶ And it happened as he talked with him, the king said to him, Have we made you of the king's counsel? Stop! Why should you be stricken? And the prophet stopped. And he said, I know that God has determined to destroy you because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.

¹² To whom He said, This is the rest; cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing. Yet they were not willing to hear.

⁹ The earth mourns and droops. Lebanon is ashamed; Sharon withers like a wilderness; Bashan and Carmel are shaken out. ¹⁰ Now I will rise, says Jehovah; now I will be exalted; now I will lift up Myself. ¹¹ You shall conceive chaff, you shall bring out stubble; your breath, like fire, shall devour you.

³¹ The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so, and what will you do at the end of it?

¹⁶ So says Jehovah, Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths where the good way is, and walk in it, and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk in it. ¹⁷ Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Listen to the sound of the ram's horn. But they said, We will not listen.

¹⁸ Then they said, Come and let us plot schemes against Jeremiah. For the Law shall not perish from the priest, nor wisdom from the wise, nor the Word from the prophet. Come and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not pay attention to any of his words.

¹⁶ So says Jehovah of Hosts, Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They make you vain; they speak a vision from their own heart, not out of the mouth of Jehovah. ¹⁷ They still say to those who despise Me, Jehovah has said, You shall have peace! And they say to everyone who walks after the stubbornness of his own heart, No evil shall come on you!

⁹ As for you, do not listen to your prophets, nor to your fortune tellers, nor to your dreamers, nor to your conjurers, nor to your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, You shall not serve the king of Babylon.

⁸ For so says Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your fortune-tellers in your midst deceive you, nor listen to your dreams which you dream.

¹⁰ Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos has plotted against you in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is not able to bear all his words. ¹¹ For so Amos says: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely go into exile out of his land. ¹² And Amaziah said to Amos, O seer, go, flee for yourself into the land of Judah; and eat bread there, and prophesy there. ¹³ But do not prophesy again any more at Bethel; for it is the king's temple, and it is the king's royal house. ¹⁴ Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah: I was no prophet, nor was I a prophet's son. But I was a herdsman and a gatherer from sycamore trees. ¹⁵ And Jehovah took me from behind the flock, and Jehovah said to me, Go, prophesy to My people Israel. ¹⁶ Now then hear the Word of Jehovah. You say, Do not prophesy against Israel, and do not drop words against the house of Isaac. ¹⁷ So Jehovah says this: Your wife shall be a harlot in the city, and your sons and your daughters shall fall by the sword, and your land shall be divided by line. And you shall die in a defiled land; and Israel shall surely go into exile out of his land.

¹¹ If a man walks with wind and lies falsely, saying, I will drop words to you for wine and for strong drink, he shall even be a dropper of words for this people.

²⁶ Woe to you when all men shall speak well of you! For so their fathers did to the false prophets.

¹⁹ And the chief priests and the scribes sought to lay hands on Him the same hour. And they feared the people, for they perceived that He had spoken this parable against them.

¹⁹ And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, lest his deeds should be exposed. ²¹ But he who practices truth comes to the Light so that his works may be revealed, that they exist, having been worked in God.

⁴⁵ And because I tell you the truth, you do not believe Me.

²¹ (For all the Athenians and strangers who were there spent their time in nothing else except to tell or to hear something newer.)

¹ And I, brothers, when I came to you, did not come with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.

⁴ And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,

¹⁶ So then did I become your enemy speaking to you the truth?

¹⁰ for fornicators, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and anything else that is contrary to sound doctrine,

¹ But the Spirit expressly says that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons, ² speaking lies in hypocrisy, being seared in their own conscience, ³ forbidding to marry, saying to abstain from foods which God has created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

¹ Know this also, that in the last days grievous times will be at hand. ² For men will be self-lovers, money-lovers, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ without natural affection, unyielding, false accusers, without self-control, savage, despisers of good, ⁴ traitors, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, ⁵ having a form of godliness, but denying the power of it; even turn away from these. ⁶ For of these are those who creep into houses and lead captive silly women loaded with sins, led away with different kinds of lusts,

¹ But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who secretly will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction. ² And many will follow their pernicious ways, and because of them the way of truth will be evil spoken of. ³ And through covetousness they will use you for gain with well-turned words; for whom judgment from of old does not linger, and their destruction does not sleep.
