¹ Now we beseech you, my brothers, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, ² that you should not be soon shaken in mind or troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word or letter, as through us, as if the Day of Christ is at hand. ³ Let not anyone deceive you by any means. For that Day shall not come unless there first comes a falling away, and the man of sin shall be revealed, the son of perdition, ⁴ who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, setting himself forth, that he is God. ⁵ Do you not remember that I told you these things when I was still with you? ⁶ And now you know what holds back, for him to be revealed in his own time. ⁷ For the mystery of lawlessness is already working, only he is now holding back until it comes out of the midst. ⁸ And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the breath of His mouth and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming, ⁹ whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and with all deceit of unrighteousness in those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, so that they might be saved. ¹¹ And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie, ¹² so that all those who do not believe the truth, but delight in unrighteousness, might be condemned. ¹³ But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brothers beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, ¹⁴ to which He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. ¹⁵ Therefore, my brothers, stand fast and hold the teachings which you have been taught, whether by word or by our letter. ¹⁶ Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and God, even our Father, who has loved us and has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, ¹⁷ comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work.

So you shall put the evil away from the midst of you.

³⁵ Vengeance and retribution belong to Me. Their foot shall slide in time, for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come on them make haste.

And he said, I will go forth and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And He said, You shall entice him and succeed also. Go forth and do so.

I saw Jehovah sitting on His throne, and all the host of Heaven were standing on His right hand and on His left. ¹⁹ And Jehovah said, Who shall tempt Ahab king of Israel so that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spoke saying in one way, and another saying in another way. ²⁰ And a spirit came out and stood before Jehovah and said, I will tempt him. And Jehovah said, With what? ²¹ And he said, I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And Jehovah said, You shall tempt him, and you are able. Go out and do so. ²² And now behold, Jehovah has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets, and Jehovah has spoken evil against you.

⁵ Jehovah tries the righteous; but His soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence,

¹¹ You will make Me know the way of life; in Your presence is fullness of joys. At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

¹⁶ But to the wicked, God says, What is it to you, to declare My Precepts, and to take up My covenant in your mouth? ¹⁷ Yea, you hate to be taught, and you toss My Words behind you. ¹⁸ When you saw a thief, then you were pleased to be with him, and you have taken part with adulterers. ¹⁹ You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit. ²⁰ You sit; you speak against your brother; you slander your own mother's son. ²¹ These things you have done, and I have kept silence; you thought that I was like yourself, but I will rebuke you, and set in order before your eyes.

³ You love evil more than good, and lying more than to speak righteousness. Selah. ⁴ You love all devouring words, O deceitful tongue.

¹¹ But My people would not listen to My voice, and Israel would have none of Me. ¹² So I gave them up to the stubbornness of their own hearts; and they walked in their own conceits.

¹⁷ But the mercy of Jehovah is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and His righteousness is to sons of sons;

¹⁷ Yea, he loved cursing, so let it come to him; he delighted not in blessing, and it was far from him.

⁷ The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

¹ My son, if you will receive my words and hide my commandments with you, ² so that you attend to wisdom, you shall extend your heart to understanding; ³ yea, if you cry after knowledge and lift up your voice for understanding; ⁴ if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures, ⁵ then you shall understand the fear of Jehovah and find the knowledge of God. ⁶ For Jehovah gives wisdom; out of His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding; forget not; nor turn away from the words of my mouth. ⁶ Do not forsake her, and she shall preserve you; love her, and she shall keep you.

¹⁷ I love those who love me; and those who seek me early shall find me.

²³ I was anointed from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth ever was.

⁹ And He said, Go, and tell this people, You hear indeed, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not know. ¹⁰ Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn back, and be healed.

² And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is allied with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the woods are moved by the wind.

¹² Do not say, A conspiracy! to everything of which this people says, A conspiracy! And do not fear their fear, nor be afraid. ¹³ Sanctify Jehovah of Hosts Himself, and let Him be your fear, and let Him be your dread.

⁴ But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and shall decide with uprightness for the meek of the earth. And He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.

¹³ For you have said in your heart, I will go up to the heavens, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north. ¹⁴ I will go up above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.

³ You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You; because he trusts in You.

⁹ Stand still and wonder! Blind your eyes and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. ¹⁰ For Jehovah has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes; He has covered the prophets and your heads, the seers. ¹¹ And the vision of all has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which they give to one who knows books saying, Please read this; and he says, I cannot, for it is sealed. ¹² And the book is delivered to him who does not know books, saying, Please read this; and he says, I do not know books. ¹³ And Jehovah said, Because this people draw near Me with their mouth, and with their lips honor Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the command of men; ¹⁴ therefore, behold, I will go on doing among this people, a wonder, even a wonder. For the wisdom of their wise ones shall perish, and the understanding of their intelligent ones shall be hidden.

¹⁰ And the ransomed of Jehovah shall return and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy on their heads; they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

²⁰ He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart has turned him aside, so that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

¹⁰ declaring the end from the beginning, and from the past things which were not done, saying, My purpose shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure;

³ For Jehovah shall comfort Zion; He will comfort all her waste places; and He will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Jehovah. Joy and gladness shall be found in it, thanksgiving and the voice of melody.

¹¹ Therefore the redeemed of Jehovah shall return and come with singing into Zion; and everlasting joy shall be on their head. Gladness and joy shall overtake them; sorrow and mourning shall flee away. ¹² I, I, am He who comforts you. Who are you, that you should fear a man. He shall die, or from the son of man? He shall be made as grass?

¹⁵ For so says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity; whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, even with the contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

¹⁹ The sun will no more be your light by day; nor the brightness of the moon give light to you; but Jehovah will be to you for everlasting light, and your God your glory. ²⁰ Your sun will no more go down, nor your moon withdraw; for Jehovah will be your everlasting light, and the days of your mourning will be ended.

¹ The Spirit of the Lord Jehovah is on Me; because Jehovah has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; ² to preach the acceptable year of Jehovah and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn;

⁷ For your shame you will have double; and for disgrace they will rejoice in their portion; therefore in their own land they will possess double; everlasting joy will be theirs.

⁷ And give Him no rest until He establishes and makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.

⁴ I also will choose the things that delude them, and I will bring their fears on them, because I called, no one answered; when I spoke, they did not hear. But they did evil before My eyes and chose that in which I did not delight.

¹³ As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; and you will be comforted in Jerusalem.

²⁵ I have heard what the prophets said, who prophesy lies in My name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. ²⁶ How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? But they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart, ²⁷ who plot to cause My people to forget My name by their dreams which they tell, each one to his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten My name for Baal.

¹⁰ For they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out and you should perish.

³ Jehovah has appeared to me from afar, saying, Yea, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness I have drawn you.

⁹ And the prophet, if he is deceived, and he speaks a word, I Jehovah have deceived that prophet. And I will stretch out My hand on him and will destroy him in the midst of My people Israel.

⁸ And I passed by you and looked on you, and, behold, your time was the time of love. And I spread my skirt over you and covered your nakedness. And I swore to you and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord Jehovah. And you became Mine.

²⁹ while they see false visions for you, while they divine a lie to you, to put you on the necks of the slain of the wicked whose day has come in the day of iniquity; it shall have an end.

² Son of man, say to the ruler of Tyre. So says the Lord Jehovah: Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, I am a god, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet you are a man and not God, though you set your heart as the heart of gods;

⁶ Therefore so says the Lord Jehovah: Because you have set your heart as the heart of gods,

⁹ Will you yet say before him who kills you, I am of the gods? But you are a man, and not God, in the hand of him who kills you.

⁸ I was thinking about the horns, and behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom three of the first horns were uprooted. And behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

¹⁰ A stream of fire went out and came out from before Him. A thousand thousands served Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The judgment was set, and the books were opened. ¹¹ Then I was looking because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke. I watched until the beast was slain, and his body was destroyed and given to the burning flame.

²⁵ And he shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and plot to change times and laws. And they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and one-half time. ²⁶ But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his rulership, to cut off and to destroy until the end.

⁹ And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which became very great, toward the south and toward the east and toward the bountiful land. ¹⁰ And it became great, even to the host of heaven. And it made fall some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and trampled them. ¹¹ Yea, he magnified himself, even to the ruler of the host, and the daily sacrifice was taken away by him, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. ¹² And an army was given to him against the daily sacrifice because of transgression, and it cast the truth to the ground. And it worked and succeeded. ¹³ Then I heard a certain holy one speaking, and another holy one said to that one who spoke, Until when shall the vision last, concerning the daily sacrifice and the transgression that astounds, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled? ¹⁴ And he said to me, For two thousand, three hundred evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary shall be vindicated.

²⁵ And also through his understanding, he shall cause deceit to succeed in his hand. And he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many. He also shall stand up against the Ruler of rulers. But he shall be broken without a hand.

²³ At the beginning of your prayers the commandment came out, and I have come to explain. For you are greatly beloved; therefore understand the matter, and attend to the vision:

¹¹ And he said to me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright. For to you I am now sent. And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood trembling.

¹⁹ and said, O man greatly beloved, do not fear. Peace to you; be strong; yes, be strong. And when he had spoken to me, I was made stronger, and I said, Speak my lord, for you have made me stronger.

³⁶ And the king shall do according to his will. And he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper until the fury is fulfilled. For that which is decreed shall be done.

⁴⁵ And he shall plant his palace tents between the seas in the glorious holy mountain. Yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

⁵ So I have cut them down by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth. And your judgments were as the light that goes forth.

³ They make the king glad with their evil, and the rulers with their lies.

¹¹ If a man walks with wind and lies falsely, saying, I will drop words to you for wine and for strong drink, he shall even be a dropper of words for this people.

² You who hate the good and love the evil; who pull their skin off them, and their flesh from their bones;

But they became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. ²² Professing to be wise, they became fools ²³ and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man, and birds, and four-footed animals, and creeping things. ²⁴ Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves. ²⁵ For they changed the truth of God into a lie, and they worshiped and served the created thing more than the Creator, who is blessed forever.
