¹⁰ And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day. Give me a man, and we will fight together.

⁷ And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab has brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse Jacob for me, and come, defy Israel. ⁸ How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? Or how shall I defy whom Jehovah has not defied?

²⁵ And the men of Israel said, Have you seen this man that has come up? Surely he has come up to defy Israel. And it shall be, the king will enrich the man who kills him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel. ²⁶ And David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man who kills this Philistine and takes away this shame from Israel? ⁴ For You have maintained my right and my cause; You sat in the throne judging right. ⁵ You have rebuked the heathen, You have destroyed the wicked, You have put out their name forever and ever.

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

²³ So says Jehovah, Do not let the wise glory in his wisdom, nor let the mighty glory in his might; do not let the rich glory in his riches;

³⁷ Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and exalt and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth and His ways judgment. And those who walk in pride He is able to humble.
