Each man had his month in a year to provide food. ⁸ These are their names: the son of Hur in Mount Ephraim; ⁹ the son of Dekar in Makaz and in Shaalbim, and Beth-shemesh, and Elon-beth-hanan; ¹⁰ the son of Hesed, in Aruboth; to him was Sochoh and all the land of Hepher; ¹¹ the son of Abinadab in all the height of Dor, Taphath the daughter of Solomon was a wife to him; ¹² Baana the son of Ahilud to whom was Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-shean, which is by Zartanah below Jezreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah to the place that is beyond Jokneam; ¹³ the son of Geber in Ramoth-gilead; to him were the towns of Jair, Manasseh's son, which are in Gilead; to him was the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls and bronze bars; ¹⁴ Ahinadab the son of Iddo had Mahanaim; ¹⁵ Ahimaaz was in Naphtali; he also took Basemath the daughter of Solomon for a wife; ¹⁶ Baanah the son of Hushai was in Asher and in Aloth; ¹⁷ Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah was in Issachar; ¹⁸ Shimei the son of Elah was in Benjamin; ¹⁹ Geber the son of Uri was in the land of Gilead, the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan; and he was the only officer in the land; ²⁰ Judah and Israel were many, as the sand by the sea in multitude; eating and drinking and making merry. ²¹ And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt. They brought presents and served Solomon all the days of his life. ²² And Solomon's food for one day was thirty measures of fine flour and sixty measures of meal, ²³ ten fat oxen and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and a hundred sheep, besides harts and roebucks, and fallow deer, and fattened fowl. ²⁴ For he had the rule over all on this side of the River, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the River. And he had peace on all sides all around him. ²⁵ And Judah and Israel lived safely, every man under his vine and under his fig-tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon. ²⁶ And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. ²⁷ And those officers provided food for King Solomon and for all who came to King Solomon's table, every man in his month. They did not lack anything. ²⁸ They also brought barley and straw for the horses and mules, to the place where the officers were, every man according to his charge. ²⁹ And God gave Solomon exceeding great wisdom and understanding, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the seashore. ³⁰ And Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the sons of the east, and all the wisdom of Egypt. ³¹ For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his fame was in all nations all around. ³² And he spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were a thousand and five. ³³ And he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree in Lebanon even to the hyssop that springs out of the wall. He spoke also of beasts and of birds, and of creeping things, and of fish. ³⁴ And there came from all the people, to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all the kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.

²⁰ And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarmers having a living soul; and let birds fly over the earth on the face of the expanse of the heavens. ²¹ And God created great sea-animals, and every living soul that creeps with which the waters swarmed after their kind; and every winged fowl after its kind. And God saw that it was good. ²² And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters of the seas and let the fowl multiply in the earth. ²³ And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. ²⁴ And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after its kind, cattle, and creepers, and its beasts of the earth after its kind; and it was so. ²⁵ And God made the beasts of the earth after its kind, and cattle after their kind, and all creepers upon the earth after their kind. And God saw that it was good.

¹⁹ And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon (as you come to Gerar) to Gaza, as you go in towards Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zeboim, even to Lasha.

⁵ And He brought him outside and said, Look now toward the heavens and count the stars, if you are able to count them. And He said to him, So shall your seed be.

¹⁸ In the same day Jehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, I have given this land to your seed, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates,

¹⁷ that in blessing I will bless you, and in multiplying I will multiply your seed like the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is upon the seashore. And your Seed shall possess the gate of His enemies.

⁶ But to the sons of the concubines which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts. And he sent them away from Isaac his son while he still lived, eastward to the east country.

² And when Jacob saw them he said, This is God's camp. And he called the name of that place Two Camps.

²¹ And you shall look out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating unjust gain. And place such over them to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

³¹ And I will stretch your bounds from the Red Sea even to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the river. For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.

¹⁸ And a clean person shall take hyssop and dip in the water, and sprinkle upon the tent and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one killed, or one dead, or a grave.

²¹ And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying, ²² Let me pass through your land. We will not turn into the fields or into the vineyards. We will not drink the waters of the well. We will go along by the king's highway until we are past your borders. ²³ And Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his border. But Sihon gathered all his people, and went out against Israel in the wilderness. And he came to Jahaz and fought against Israel. ²⁴ And Israel struck him with the edge of the sword and possessed his land from Arnon to Jabbok, even to the sons of Ammon. For the border of the sons of Ammon was strong. ²⁵ And Israel took all these cities. And Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites in Heshbon, and in all its villages. ²⁶ For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken all his land out of his hand, even to Arnon. ²⁷ Therefore they who speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and prepared. ²⁸ For there has gone out a fire from Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has consumed Ar of Moab, the lords of the high places of Arnon. ²⁹ Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, O people of Chemosh! He has given his sons to be runaways, and his daughters to go into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites. ³⁰ We have cast them down. Heshbon has perished even to Dibon, and we have laid them waste even to Nophah which is to Medeba. ³¹ So Israel lived in the land of the Amorites. ³² And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took its villages and drove out the Amorites who were there. ³³ And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan. And Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to the battle at Edrei. ³⁴ And Jehovah said to Moses, Do not fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, and all his people and his land. And you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites who lived at Heshbon. ³⁵ So they struck him and his sons and all his people, until there was none left him alive. And they possessed his land.

⁶ They are spread forth like the valleys, like gardens by the river's side, like the trees of aloes which Jehovah has planted, like cedar trees beside the waters.

⁴¹ And Jair the son of Manasseh went and took the small towns of it, and called them Towns of Jair.

²⁶ And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,

⁴ And we took all his cities at that time. There was not a city which we did not take from them, sixty cities, all the region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.

⁸ And we took at that time out of the hand of the two kings of the Amorites the land on this side Jordan, from the river of Arnon to Mount Hermon,

¹³ And the rest of Gilead, and all Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half tribe of Manasseh, all the region of Argob, with all Bashan, which was called the land of giants. ¹⁴ Jair the son of Manasseh took all the country of Argob, as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites. And he called them after his own name, Bashan (Towns of Jair) to this day.

⁴³ They were Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead of the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, for the Manassites.

²⁴ Every place on which the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours, from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even to the furthest sea shall your border be.

¹⁶ But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, so as to multiply horses, because Jehovah has said to you, You shall return no more that way from now on.

⁴ From the wilderness and this Lebanon even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.

¹⁶ that the waters which came down from above stopped and rose up all in a heap, very far from the city Adam that is beside Zaretan. And those that came down toward the sea of the plain, the Salt Sea, were completely cut off. And the people passed over across from Jericho.

² and to the kings on the north of the mountains, and on the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,

¹⁷ the king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one;

²³ the king of Dor in the coast of Dor, one; the king of the nations of Gilgal, one;

⁹ from Aroer on the bank of the river Arnon, and the city in the midst of the river, and all the plain of Medeba, to Dibon; ¹⁰ and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, to the border of the sons of Ammon; ¹¹ and Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maachathites, and all mount Hermon, and all Bashan to Salcah, ¹² all the kingdom of Og in Bashan (who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei; he remained of the rest of the giants), even Moses struck them and expelled them.

³⁵ Jarmuth, and Adullam, Socoh, and Azekah,

¹¹ And Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Beth-shean and its towns, and Ibleam and its towns, and those who lived in Dor and its towns, and those who lived in Endor and its towns, and those who lived in Taanach and its towns, and those who lived in Megiddo and its towns, even three regions.

²⁰ And Jordan was the border of it on the east side. This was the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin, according to its borders all around, according to their families. ²¹ And the cities of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, and Beth-hoglah, and the valley of Keziz, ²² and Beth-arabah, and Zemaraim, and Bethel, ²³ and Avvim, and Parah, and Ophrah, ²⁴ and Chephar-haam-monai, and Ophni, and Gaba; twelve cities and their villages; ²⁵ Gibeon, and Ramah, and Beeroth, ²⁶ and Mizpeh, and Chephirah, and Mozah, ²⁷ and Rekem, and Irpeel, and Taralah, ²⁸ and Zelah, Eleph, and Jebusi, which is Jerusalem; Gibeath, Kirjath; fourteen cities and their villages. This is the inheritance of the sons of Benjamin according to their families.

¹⁷ The fourth lot came out to Issachar, for the sons of Issachar according to their families. ¹⁸ And their border was toward Jezreel, and Chesulloth, and Shunem, ¹⁹ and Hapharaim, and Shihon, and Anaharath, ²⁰ and Rabbith, and Kishion, and Abez, ²¹ and Remeth, and En-gannim, and En-haddah, and Beth-pazzez. ²² And the border reaches to Tabor, and Shahazimah, and Beth-shemesh. And the edges of their border were at Jordan; sixteen cities with their villages. ²³ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Issachar according to their families, the cities and their villages. ²⁴ And the fifth lot came out for the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families. ²⁵ And their border was Helkath, and Hali, and Beten, and Achshaph, ²⁶ and Alammelech, and Amad, and Misheal; and reaches to Carmel westward, and to Shihor-libnath; ²⁷ and turns toward the sunrising to Beth-dagon, and reaches to Zebulun, and to the valley of Jiphthah-el toward the north of Beth-emek, and Neiel, and goes out to Cabul on the left hand, ²⁸ and Hebron, and Rehob, and Hammon, and Kanah, to great Sidon; ²⁹ and the border turns to Ramah, and to the strong city Tyre. And the border turns to Hosah, and the boundaries of it are at the sea from the line to Achzib, ³⁰ and Ummah, and Aphek, and Rehob; twenty-two cities and their villages. ³¹ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Asher according to their families, these cities with their villages. ³² The sixth lot came out to the sons of Naphtali, for the sons of Naphtali according to their families. ³³ And their border was from Heleph, from Allon to Zaanannim, and Adami, Nekeb, and Jabneel, to Lakum. And its boundaries were at Jordan. ³⁴ And the border turns west toward Aznoth-tabor, and goes out from there to Hukkok, and reached to Zebulun on the south side, and reaches to Asher on the west side, and to Judah on Jordan toward the sunrise. ³⁵ And the fortified cities are Ziddim, Zer, and Hammath, Rakkath, and Chinnereth, ³⁶ and Adamah, and Ramah, and Hazor, ³⁷ and Kedesh, and Edrei, and En-hazor, ³⁸ and Iron, and Migdalel, Horem, and Beth-anath, and Beth-shemesh; nineteen cities and their villages. ³⁹ This is the inheritance of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali according to their families, the cities and their villages.

⁴² and Shaalabbin, and Ajalon, and Jethlah,

⁸ And beyond the Jordan, at Jericho eastward, they gave Bezer in the wilderness, on the tableland out of the tribe of Reuben; and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad; and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.

¹⁶ and Ain and its open lands, and Juttah and its open lands, and Beth-shemesh and its open lands; nine cities from these two tribes.

³⁸ And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead and its open lands as a city of refuge for the manslayer, and Mahanaim and its open lands,

³³ And Eleazar the son of Aaron died. And they buried him in a hill belonging to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.

²⁷ And Manasseh had not taken possession of Beth-shean and its daughter-villages, nor Taanach and its daughter-villages, nor struck the inhabitants of Dor and its daughter-villages, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and its daughter-villages, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and its daughter-villages. For the Canaanites were determined to live in that land.

³⁵ But the Amorites desired to stay in Mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim. Yet the hand of the house of Joseph was heavy so that they became tributaries.

¹⁹ Kings came and fought. Then the kings of Canaan fought in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo. They took no gain of silver.

¹² And the Midianites and the Amalekites, and all the sons of the east lay along in the valley like locusts for multitude, and their camels without number, like the sand by the seaside for multitude.

¹ Then Samson went to Gaza. And he saw a harlot there, and went in to her.

¹⁸ And David said to Saul, Who am I, and what is my life, or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?

So says Jehovah, the God of Israel, I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. ⁸ And I gave you your master's house and your master's wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if that was too little, I would have given to you such and such things besides. ⁹ Why have you despised the Word of Jehovah, to do evil in His sight? You have stricken Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the sons of Ammon. ¹⁰ And therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife. ¹¹ So says Jehovah, Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house, and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor. And he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. ¹² For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun. ¹³ And David said to Nathan, I have sinned against Jehovah. And Nathan said to David, Jehovah also has put away your sin; you shall not die. ¹⁴ Only, because by this deed you have given great occasion to the enemies of Jehovah to blaspheme, this child born to you shall surely die. ¹⁵ And Nathan left to go to his house. And Jehovah struck the child that Uriah's wife bore to David, and it was very sick.

²⁵ And he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and he called his name Jedidiah, because of Jehovah.

²⁷ The king also said to Zadok the priest, Are you a seer? Return to the city in peace, and your two sons with you. Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

³² And it happened when David had come to the top, where he worshiped God, behold, Hushai the Archite came to meet him with his coat torn and earth upon his head.

Why then does Adonijah reign? ¹⁴ Behold, while you are still talking with the king, I also will come in after you and confirm your words. ¹⁵ And Bathsheba went in to the king into the room. And the king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite served the king. ¹⁶ And Bathsheba bowed and knelt before the king. And the king said, What shall I do for you? ¹⁷ And she said to him, My lord, you swore by Jehovah your God to your handmaid, saying, Surely your son Solomon shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne. ¹⁸ And now, behold, Adonijah reigns. And now, my lord, you do not know. ¹⁹ And he has slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and has called all the sons of the king, and Abiathar the priest, and Joab the commander of the army. And behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, Let King Adonijah live. ²⁶ But he has not called me, your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon. ²⁷ Is this thing done by my lord the king, and have you not shown your servant who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him? ²⁸ And David answered and said, Call Bathsheba. And she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king. ²⁹ And the king swore, and said, As Jehovah lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all distress, ³⁰ surely as I swore to you by Jehovah, the God of Israel, saying, Surely Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne in my place, even so I will do today. ³¹ And Bathsheba bowed her face to the earth, even kneeling to the king, and said, Let my lord King David live forever. ³² And King David said, Call Zadok the priest to me, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada. And they came before the king. ³³ The king also said to them, Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon. ³⁴ And let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him king over Israel there. And blow with the ram's horn, and say, Let King Solomon live. ³⁵ And you shall come up after him, and let him come and sit upon my throne. For he shall reign in my place. And I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah. ³⁶ And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, Amen. May Jehovah, the God of my lord the king say so. ³⁷ As Jehovah has been with my lord the king, even so may He be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord king David. ³⁸ And Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down and caused Solomon to ride upon King David's mule, and brought him to Gihon. ³⁹ And Zadok the priest took a horn of oil out of the Tabernacle and anointed Solomon. And they blew the ram's horn, and all the people said, Let King Solomon live! ⁴⁰ And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth was torn with their sound. ⁴¹ And Adonijah heard, and all the invited guests with him. And they stopped eating. And Joab heard the sound of the ram's horn, and said, What is this noise roaring from the city? ⁴² And he was still speaking, and behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came. And Adonijah said to him, Come in, for you are a mighty man and you bring good news. ⁴³ And Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, Truly our lord King David has made Solomon king. ⁴⁴ And the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they have caused him to ride upon the king's mule. ⁴⁵ And Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king in Gihon. And they have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city is roaring. This is the noise that you heard. ⁴⁶ And also Solomon sits on the throne of the kingdom. ⁴⁷ And also the king's servants came to bless our lord King David, saying, May God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne. And the king bowed himself upon the bed. ⁴⁸ And also the king said, Blessed is Jehovah, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne today, my eyes even seeing it. ⁴⁹ And all those who were invited by Adonijah trembled and arose and left, each to his way. ⁵⁰ And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose and went and caught hold on the horns of the altar. ⁵¹ And it was told to Solomon, saying, Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon. For, lo, he has caught hold on the horns of the altar, saying, Let King Solomon swear to me today that he will not kill his servant with the sword. ⁵² And Solomon said, If he becomes a son of virtue, not a hair of his head shall fall to the earth. But if wickedness shall be found in him, then he shall die. ⁵³ And King Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and bowed himself to King Solomon. And Solomon said to him, Go to your house.

²⁶ And the king said to Abiathar the priest, Go to Anathoth, to your fields, for you are worthy of death. But I will not put you to death at this time, because you carried the ark of the Lord God before David my father, and because you have been afflicted in all that in which my father was afflicted. ²⁷ And Solomon thrust out Abiathar from being priest to Jehovah, so that he might fulfil the Word of Jehovah which He spoke concerning the house of Eli in Shiloh.

³⁵ And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada over the army in his place. And the king put Zadok the priest in the place of Abiathar.

⁸ And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a numerous people who cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

¹² behold, I have done according to your words. Lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart, so that there was none like you before you, and after you none shall arise like you.

²⁸ And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged. And they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to do judgment.

⁷ And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, who provided food for the king and his household. Each man had his month in a year to provide food.

¹¹ the son of Abinadab in all the height of Dor, Taphath the daughter of Solomon was a wife to him;

²⁰ Judah and Israel were many, as the sand by the sea in multitude; eating and drinking and making merry. ²¹ And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt. They brought presents and served Solomon all the days of his life.

²⁴ For he had the rule over all on this side of the River, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side the River. And he had peace on all sides all around him.

⁴ But now Jehovah my God has given me rest all around. There is no foe nor evil happening.

⁷ And it happened when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly and said, Blessed be Jehovah this day, who has given David a wise son over this great people.

¹³ And King Solomon raised a levy out of all Israel. And the labor force was thirty thousand men. ¹⁴ And he sent them to Lebanon, ten thousand a month, by courses. They were a month in Lebanon, and two months at home. And Adoniram was over the labor force.

⁴⁶ The king cast them in the plain of Jordan, in the thick soil of the ground between Succoth and Zarethan.

¹⁵ And this is the reason of the labor force which King Solomon raised to build the house of Jehovah and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

¹ And the queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame concerning the name of Jehovah, and she came to test him with hard questions.

⁶ And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in my own land of your acts and of your wisdom.

¹³ Only, I will not tear away all the kingdom, but I will give one tribe to your son for David My servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

³⁵ But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it to you, ten tribes. ³⁶ And to his son I will give one tribe, so that David My servant may have a light always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen for Me, to put My name there.

¹⁸ And King Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the tribute. And all Israel stoned him with stones so that he died. And King Rehoboam made haste to go up to get into a chariot to flee to Jerusalem. ¹⁹ And Israel rebelled against the house of David to this day. ²⁰ And it happened when all Israel heard that Jeroboam had come again, they sent and called him to the company, and made him king over all Israel. There was none who followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.

⁴⁶ And the hand of Jehovah was on Elijah. And he girded up his loins and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

¹⁶ And you shall anoint Jehu the son of Nimshi to be king over Israel. And Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah you shall anoint to be prophet in your place.

³ And the king of Israel said to his servants, Do you not know that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, and we are quiet and do not take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?

And he killed him at Megiddo, when he saw him. ³⁰ And his servants made him ride dead in a chariot from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own tomb. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father's place.

⁶ And the sons of Zerah were Zimri, and Ethan, and Heman, and Calcol, and Dara, all of them five.

⁸ And Ahitub fathered Zadok. And Zadok fathered Ahimaaz. ⁹ And Ahimaaz fathered Azariah. And Azariah fathered Johanan. ¹⁰ And Johanan fathered Azariah, he who acted in the priest's office in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem.

³³ And these are the ones who waited with their sons. Of the sons of the Kohathites: Heman a singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,

And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ³ Of the sons of Perez was the chief of all the commanders of the army for the first month. ⁴ And over the division of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and of his division Mikloth was also the ruler. In his division also were twenty-four thousand. ⁵ The third commander of the army for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, a chief priest. And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ⁶ This is that Benaiah who was mighty among the thirty, and above the thirty. And in his division was Ammizabad his son. ⁷ The fourth for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him. And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ⁸ The fifth commander for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite. And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ⁹ The sixth for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite. And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ¹⁰ The seventh for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the sons of Ephraim. And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ¹¹ The eighth for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites. And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ¹² The ninth for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anethothite, of the Benjamites. And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ¹³ The tenth for the tenth month was Maharai of Netopha, of the Zerahites. And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ¹⁴ The eleventh for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the sons of Ephraim. And in his division were twenty-four thousand. ¹⁵ The twelfth for the twelfth month was Heldai of Netopha, of Othniel. And in his division were twenty-four thousand.

¹⁰ Give me now wisdom and knowledge that I may go out and come in before this people. For who can judge this Your great people? ¹¹ And God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches, wealth, nor honor, nor the life of your enemies, nor yet have asked for long life but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself that you may judge My people, over whom I have made you king; ¹² wisdom and knowledge is granted to you. And I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before you, nor shall any after you have the like.

Keep back your foot from their path, ¹⁶ for their feet run to evil and make haste to shed blood. ¹⁷ Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird, ¹⁸ And they lie in wait for their own blood; they watch secretly for their own lives. ¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone who gains unjust gain; it takes away its owners' life. ²⁰ Wisdom cries outside; she utters her voice in the streets; ²¹ she cries in the chief place of gathering, in the openings of the gates; in the city she utters her words, saying, ²² How long will you love simplicity, simple ones? And will scorners delight in their scorning? And will fools hate knowledge? ²³ Turn at my warning; behold, I will pour out my Spirit to you; I will make my words known to you. ²⁴ Because I called, and you refused; I stretched out my hand, and no one paid attention; ²⁵ but you have despised all my advice, and would have none of my warning. ²⁶ I also will laugh at your trouble; I will mock when your fear comes; ²⁷ when your fear comes as a wasting away, and your ruin comes like a tempest when trouble and pain come upon you. ²⁸ Then they shall call upon me, and I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me; ²⁹ instead they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of Jehovah. ³⁰ They would have none of my counsel; they despised all my correction, ³¹ and they shall eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own desires.

⁶ For Jehovah gives wisdom; out of His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

²⁸ In the multitude of people is the king's honor, but in the lack of people is the ruin of the prince.

¹¹ He who loves pureness of heart, grace is on his lips; the king shall be his friend.

¹² I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.

¹⁶ I spoke within my own heart, saying, Lo, I have become great and have gathered more wisdom than all that have been before me in Jerusalem; yea, my heart has seen much of wisdom and knowledge.

²⁴ Is it not good that he should eat and drink and make his soul see good in his labor? This I also saw, that it was from the hand of God.

²⁶ For God gives wisdom, and knowledge, and joy to a man who is good in His sight. But to the sinner He gives labor, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him who is good before God. This also is vanity and vexation of spirit.

⁹ And more than that, the preacher was wise; he still taught the people knowledge. Yes, he listened, and looked, and set in order many proverbs.

¹ The song of songs, which is Solomon's. ² Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth; for Your love is better than wine. ³ For Your ointments have a lovely fragrance; Your name is as oil poured out; therefore the virgins love You. ⁴ Draw me, we will run after You. The King has brought me into his chambers; we will be glad and rejoice in You, we will remember Your love more than wine; the upright love You. ⁵ I am black, but comely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon. ⁶ Do not look on me, that I am black, that the sun has looked on me. My mother's sons were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but my vineyard I have not kept. ⁷ Tell me, You whom my soul loves, where do You feed, where do You lie down at noon? For why should I be as one who is veiled beside the flocks of Your companions? ⁸ If you know not, most beautiful among women, go in the footsteps of the flock; and feed your kids beside the shepherds' tents. ⁹ O My love, I have compared you to My mares among Pharaoh's chariots. ¹⁰ Your cheeks are beautiful with ornaments, your neck with chains. ¹¹ We will make you borders of gold with studs of silver. ¹² While the King is in His circle, my spikenard gives its smell. ¹³ A bundle of myrrh is my Beloved to me. He shall lie all night between my breasts. ¹⁴ My Beloved is to me like a cluster of henna in the vineyards of Engedi. ¹⁵ Behold, you are beautiful, my love; behold, you are beautiful; you have doves' eyes. ¹⁶ Behold, you are beautiful, my Beloved, yea, pleasant. Also our bed is green. ¹⁷ The beams of our house are cedar, and our rafters are of fir.

² And it shall be, in the last days the mountain of Jehovah's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow into it.

⁷ There is no end of the increase of His government and peace on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it and to establish it with judgment and with justice from now on, even forever. The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts will do this.

¹¹ Surely the rulers of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counselors of Pharaoh has become brutish. How do you say to Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings? ¹² Where are they? Where are your wise men? And let them tell you now, and let them know what Jehovah of Hosts has planned against Egypt.

¹³ Then, lo, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine, saying, Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!

⁵ Then you shall fear and become bright, and your heart shall throb and swell for joy; because the abundance of the sea shall turn to you, the wealth of the nations will come to you.

¹⁸ Violence will no more be heard in your land, wasting nor ruin within your borders; but you will call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.

⁶ I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem, who will not always be silent all the day nor all the night; you who remember Jehovah, do not be silent.

⁵ Behold, the days come, says Jehovah, that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and act wisely, and shall do judgment and justice in the earth. ⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely. And this is His name by which He shall be called, JEHOVAH, OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

¹⁵ In those days, and at that time, I will cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up to David. And He shall do judgment and righteousness in the land. ¹⁶ In those days Judah shall be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely. And this is the name with which she shall be called, JEHOVAH OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

²² As the host of the heavens cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea measured, so I will multiply the seed of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me.

¹¹ And you shall say, I will go up to the land of open spaces. I will go to those at ease, who dwell securely, all of them dwelling without walls, and there are no bars nor gates to them,

²⁰ And in any matters of wisdom and understanding that the king asked them, he found them ten times better than all the horoscopists and conjurers who were in all his kingdom.

⁷ Then the horoscopists, the conjurers, the Chaldeans, and the fortune-tellers came in. And I told the dream before them, but they did not make its meaning known to me.

¹¹ There is a man in your kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods. And in the days of your father there was found in him light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods. Your father, King Nebuchadnezzar, your father the king, appointed him master of the horoscopists, conjurers, Chaldeans, and fortune-tellers, ¹² because an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, explaining of dreams, and revealing of hard sentences, and the unraveling of knots, were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar. Now let Daniel be called, and he will reveal the meaning.

¹³ O inhabitant of Lachish, bind the chariot to the stallion; she is the beginning of sin to the daughter of Zion, for the sins of Israel were found in you.

⁴ But they shall sit each one under his vine and under his fig tree; and there shall be no trembling; for the mouth of Jehovah of Hosts has spoken,

⁹ All of him shall come for violence; the gathering of their faces is forward; and they gather captives like the sand.

¹⁰ In that day, says Jehovah of Hosts, you shall call, each man to his neighbor, to sit under the vine and under the fig tree.

²³ So says Jehovah of Hosts: In those days ten men, out of all languages of the nations, shall take hold, and will seize the skirt of a man, a Jew, saying, We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.

¹⁵ Jehovah of Hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour and trample the slingstones. And they shall drink and be boisterous, as through wine. And they shall be filled like a bowl, and like the corners of the altar.

¹³ the family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart;

¹ Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men came from the east to Jerusalem,

¹⁶ Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was greatly enraged. And he sent and killed all the boys in Bethlehem, and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had carefully inquired of the wise men.

²⁴ And His fame went throughout all Syria. And they brought to Him all those being badly ill suffering various diseases and torments, and those who had been possessed with demons, and those who had been moonstruck, and paralytics. And He healed them.

⁴² The queen of the south shall rise up in the Judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it, for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, One greater than Solomon is here.

³⁵ so that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, "I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world."

¹⁴ Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

³¹ The queen of the south shall rise up in the Judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them. For she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And behold, One greater than Solomon is here.

²³ But there was one of His disciples leaning upon Jesus' bosom, the one whom Jesus loved.

¹⁴ You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. ¹⁵ No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master does. But I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.

⁴⁶ And continuing with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they shared food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

²² And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was mighty in words and in deeds.

²⁸ And God set some in the church, firstly, apostles; secondly, prophets; thirdly, teachers, then works of power, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, kinds of languages.

³ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

¹ For this Melchizedek, king of Salem and priest of the Most High God, met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him. ² To him Abraham also gave a tenth of all. He was first by interpretation king of righteousness, and after that also king of Salem, which is king of peace,

¹⁹ For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

⁵ But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and with no reproach, and it shall be given to him.

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness nor shadow of turning.

²³ And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God."

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first truly pure, then peaceable, gentle, easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
