³ As he sat upon the Mount of Olives his disciples addressed him privately, saying, Tell us, when will this happen; and what will be the sign of your coming, and of the conclusion of this state?

¹⁰ Then the disciples addressed him, saying, Why do you speak to them in parables? ¹¹ He answering, said to them, Because it is your privilege, and not theirs, to know the secrets of the Reign of Heaven.

³⁶ Then Jesus, leaving the multitude, retired to the house, where his disciples accosted him, saying, Explain to us the parable of the darnel in the field.

³⁹ the enemy who sowed them is the devil. The harvest is the conclusion of this state; and the reapers are the angels. ⁴⁰ As, therefore, the darnel is gathered and burnt, so shall it be at the conclusion of this state.

⁴⁹ So it shall be at the conclusion of this state. The angels will come and separate the wicked from among the righteous,

²⁷ For the coming of the Son of Man shall be like lightning, which breaking forth from the east, shines even to the west.

³² Learn now a similitude from the fig tree. When its branches become tender and put forth leaves, you know that summer is nigh. ³³ In like manner, when you shall see all these things, know that he is near, even at the door.

³⁷ Now that which happened in Noah's time, will also happen at the coming of the Son of Man.

³⁹ and suspected nothing, until the flood came and swept them all away: so shall it also be at the coming of the Son of Man.

⁴³ You are sure, that if the householder knew at what time of the night the thief would come, he would watch, and not suffer him to break into his house.

²⁰ teaching them to observe all the things which I have commanded you: and behold, I am with you always, even to the conclusion of this state.

³ Afterward, as he was sitting on the Mount of Olives, opposite the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, asked him privately, ⁴ Tell us, when will this happen? and what will be the sign, when all this is to be accomplished?

⁷ Then they asked him, saying, Rabbi, when will these things be: and what will be the sign, when they are about to be accomplished?

²¹ Peter seeing him, said to Jesus, And what, Lord, shall become of this man? ²² Jesus answered, If I will that he wait my return, what is that to you? Follow me.

⁷ But he said to them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons which the Father has reserved to himself.

¹ However, concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I write to you: ² for yourselves know perfectly, that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. ³ When they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. ⁴ But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should come upon you like a thief. ⁵ You are all sons of light, and sons of day: we are not sons of night, nor of darkness. ⁶ Therefore, let us not sleep, even as others; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For they who sleep, sleep in the night; and they who get drunk, get drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. ⁹ For God has appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation, through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we may live together, with him. ¹⁰ Wherefore, comfort one another, and edify each other, even as also you do. ¹¹ Wherefore, comfort one another, and edify each other, even as also you do.

²⁶ for then he must have often sufferance since the foundation of the world: but now, once, at the conclusion of the ages, he has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
