⁸ And God, who knows the heart, bore witness to them, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as he did to us:

²⁴ And they prayed, saying, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of all, show which of these two thou hast chosen,

⁴ and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

³¹ And while they were praying, the place in which they were assembled was shaken: and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with freedom.

⁴⁴ While Peter was yet speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were hearing the word: ⁴⁵ and they of the circumcision, who believed, as many as came with Peter, were astonished that the gift of the Spirit was poured out upon the Gentiles also:

⁴⁷ Then Peter answered, Can any one forbid water, that these persons should not be immersed, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?

¹⁵ And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as on us at the beginning. ¹⁶ And I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, John immersed in water; but you shall be immersed in the Holy Spirit. ¹⁷ Since, therefore, God gave to them the same gift as he did to us, who had believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, what was I, that I should be able to obstruct God?

³ They, however, staid there a considerable time, speaking boldly for the Lord; who gave attestation to the word of his grace, and granted signs and miracles to be done by their hands.

⁴ God, also, bearing witness, both by signs and wonders, and divers miracles, and distributions of the Holy Spirit, according to his own pleasure.)
