⁵ having a form of godliness, but denying the power of it. Now, from these, turn away.

¹⁵ Beware of false teachers, who come to you in the garb of sheep, while inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

²⁷ Alas for you, Scribes and Pharisees! hypocrites! because you resemble whitened sepulchers, which without indeed, are beautiful, but within are full of corruption, and of dead men's bones. ²⁸ Thus you outwardly appear righteous to men; but are inwardly fraught with subtlety and injustice.

²⁰ and instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, having the representation of knowledge and of truth in the law: ²¹ you, then, who teach another; do you not teach yourself? You who proclaim, Do not steal; do you steal? ²² You who command, Do not commit adultery; do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols; do you rob temples? ²³ You who boast in the law; by the breaking of the law, do you dishonor God? ²⁴ For it is written, "The name of God is evil spoken of among the Gentiles, through you."

¹⁷ Now, I beseech you, brethren, mark them who make separations and occasions of falling, contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them. ¹⁸ For they who are such, do not serve out Lord Jesus, but their own belly; and by flattery and fair speeches, deceive the hearts of the simple.

¹⁴ that we may be no longer children, tossed and carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sight of men, and by cunning craftiness for an artifice of seduction:

⁶ Now, we command you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks disorderly, and not according to the tradition which he received from us.

¹⁴ Now, if one do not obey our command in this letter, point out that man, and keep no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

⁸ For if any one provide not for his own, and especially those of his own family, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

⁵ perverse disputings of men wholly corrupted in mind, and destitute of the truth; who reckon gain to be godliness: from such, stand aloof.

¹⁶ But profane empty babblings resist, for they will increase to more ungodliness.

²³ Moreover, foolish and ignorant questions reject, knowing that they beget contentions;

¹⁶ They profess to know God; but by works they deny him, being abominable and disobedient, and to every good work reprobate.

¹⁰ A factionist, after a first and second admonition, reject;

¹⁰ If any one come to you, and bring not this doctrine; receive him not into your house, nor wish him success: ¹¹ for he who wishes him success, partakes in his evil deeds. ¹² Having many things to write to you, I did not incline to communicate them by paper and ink; because I hope to come to you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be complete.
