¹⁷ Now, in declaring this, that you come together, not for the better, but for the worse, I do not praise you.

¹⁴ or to governor, as those sent by him for the punishment, indeed, of evil doers; but for the praise of them who do good.

³ For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Would you, then, not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and you shall have praise of the same.

² Now I praise you, brethren; because, in all things you remember me, and hold fast the traditions as I delivered them to you.

²⁰ But your coming together into one place, is not to eat the Lord's supper.

²² What! have you not houses, to eat and to drink in? or, do you despise the congregation of God and put to shame those who have not? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this, I praise you not.

³⁴ And if any one hunger, let him eat at home, that you may not come together for judgment. And the other things I will set in order when I come.

²³ If, then, the whole congregation be come together in one place, and all speak in foreign languages; and there come in unlearned persons, or unbelievers, will they not say that you are mad?

²⁶ What is it, then, brethren? When you are come together, each of you has a psalm, has a discourse, has a foreign language, has a revelation, has an interpretation! Let all things be done to edification.

²⁵ not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.
