¹² And they placed him in ward, until the decision of the Lord could be explained to them.

¹⁵ And Moses said unto his father-in-law, Because the people cometh unto me to inquire of God. ¹⁶ When they have a matter of dispute, they come unto me; and I judge between one and the other, and I make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.

²³ If thou wilt do this thing, and God commandeth it thee, then wilt thou be able to endure; and also the whole of this people will come to its place in peace.

³⁴ And they put him in ward; because it had not been declared what should be done to him.

⁵ And Moses brought their cause before the Lord.

⁵ And Moses commanded the children of Israel by the order of the Lord, saying, the tribe of the sons of Joseph have spoken well. ⁶ This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, To those who are pleasing in their eyes may they become wives; however only to the family of the tribe of their father shall they become wives.
