¹¹ This is the parable. The seed is the word of God.

¹⁹ Whoever hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away the word which has been sown in his heart. This is that which was sown on the roadside.

¹⁴ The sower who sowed, sowed the word. ¹⁵ Those on the roadside are those in whom the word is sown; and when they have heard it, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word which is sown in their hearts. ¹⁶ And those which were sown upon the rock, are those who when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy; ¹⁷ And they have no root in themselves, but last for a while; and when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they soon stumble. ¹⁸ And those which were sown among thistles are those who have heard the word, ¹⁹ And the thoughts of this world, and the deception of wealth, and the lusts of other things, enter in and choke the word, and bear no fruit. ²⁰ And those which were sown in good soil, are those who hear the word, and receive it and bear fruit, one thirty, and one sixty, and one a hundred.

⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then neither he who plants, nor he who waters deserves the credit; but God who gives the increase.

⁹ For we work together with God: you are GodÆs work and GodÆs building. ¹⁰ According to the grace of God which is given to me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another builds upon it. But let every man be careful how he builds thereon. ¹¹ For other foundation can no man lay than that which is already laid, which is Jesus Christ. ¹² Now if any man build on this foundation gold, silver, or precious stones, or wood, or hay, or stubble;

²¹ Wherefore cast away all filthiness, and all the multitude of evil things, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

²³ Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever. ²⁴ For all flesh is as grass, and all its glory is as the flower of the field. The grass withers and the flower fades away: ²⁵ But the word of our God endures for ever. And this is the very word which has been preached to you.
