¹² It happened in those days, Jesus went out to a mountain to pray, and he remained all night in prayer to God.

⁶ But you, when you pray, enter into your inner chamber, and lock your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret he himself shall reward you openly.

²³ And when he had dismissed the people, he went up to the mountain alone to pray; and when darkness fell he was still there alone. ²⁴ But the boat was many miles away from the land, tossed by the waves, for the wind was against it. ²⁵ And in the fourth watch of the night, Jesus came to them, walking on * the water.

³⁵ And in the morning he rose up very early and went away to a lonely place, and there prayed.

⁴⁶ And when he had dismissed them, he went up to the mountain to pray.

³⁴ And he said to them, My soul is sorrowful even to death; wait for me and keep awake. ³⁵ And he went a little aside, and fell on the ground, and prayed, that if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him. ³⁶ And he said, Abba, Ave, O Father, my Father, you can do everything; make this cup pass away from me; but not according to my will, but yours.

² Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

⁷ Even when he was clothed in the flesh, he offered prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death; and verily he was heard.
