³⁴ The people said to him, We have heard from the law that the Christ shall remain forever; how do you say that the Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?

²⁵ So that the word which is written in their law may be fulfilled, They hated me for no reason.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever the law says, it is said to those who are under the law: so that every mouth may be shut, and all the world may become guilty before God.

¹⁸ In like manner as by one manÆs offence, condemnation came upon all men, even so by the righteousness of one man, will the victory unto life be to all men.
