²² But the fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith,

¹⁶ You will know them by their fruits. Why, do they gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? ¹⁷ So every good tree bears good fruits; but a bad tree bears bad fruits. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bear bad fruits, neither can a bad tree bear good fruits. ¹⁹ Any tree which does not bear good fruits will be cut down and cast into the fire. ²⁰ Thus by their fruits you will know them.

³³ Either produce like a good tree with good fruits, or produce like a bad tree with bad fruits; for a tree is known by its fruits.

¹⁴ That which fell among the thistles are those who hear the word, and then choke themselves with worries and riches and worldly covetousness, and bear no fruit. ¹⁵ But that in good soil, these are those who hear the word with pure and good heart, and keep it, and bear fruit with patience.

⁹ It might bear fruit; and if not, then you can cut it down.

² Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he cuts out; and the one which bears fruit, he prunes so that it may bring forth more fruit.

⁵ I am the vine, you are the branches. He who remains with me and I with him, will bear abundant fruit; for without me you can do nothing.

¹⁶ You did not choose me, but I chose you, and I have appointed you, that you also should go and produce fruit, and that your fruit might remain; so that whatever you ask my Father in my name, he will give it to you.

¹ THEREFORE, being justified by faith, let us have peace with God through our LORD Jesus Christ; ² Through him we have been brought by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and are proud in the hope of the glory of God. ³ And not only so, but we also glory in our tribulations: knowing that tribulation perfects patience in us; ⁴ And patience, experience; and experience, hope: ⁵ And hope causes no one to be ashamed; because the love of God is poured in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given to us.

²² But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, your fruits are holy, and the end thereof is life everlasting.

⁴ Wherefore, my brethren, you also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that you might become anotherÆs, even to him who arose from the dead, so that you may bring forth fruit to God.

⁹ Let not your love be deceitful. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. ¹⁰ Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another; ¹¹ Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit, serving the LORD; ¹² Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer. ¹³ Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. ¹⁴ Bless them which persecute you; bless, and curse not. ¹⁵ Rejoice with them that rejoice, and weep with them that weep. ¹⁶ Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not vain glory, but associate with those who are humble. Be not wise in your own conceits. ¹⁷ Recompense to no man evil for evil. But be careful to do good things before the presence of all men. ¹⁸ If it be possible, as much as lies in you, live peaceably with all men.

³ For even Christ pleased not himself: but as it is written, The reproaches of those who reproached you have fallen on me.

¹⁴ And I myself am persuaded concerning you, my brethren, that you also are filled with the same goodness, and made perfect with all knowledge, able also to admonish others.

⁴ Love is long-suffering and is kind; love does not envy; love does not make a vain display of itself, and does not boast, ⁵ Does not behave itself unseemly, seeks not her own, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; ⁶ Rejoices not over injustice, but rejoices in the truth; ⁷ Bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

¹³ And now abides faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. *

¹³ For, my brethren, you have been called unto liberty; only do not use your liberty for an occasion to the things of the flesh, but by love serve one another.

¹⁶ This I say then: Lead a spiritual life, and you shall never commit the lust of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the flesh craves that which is harmful to the Spirit, and the Spirit opposes the things of the flesh: and the two are contrary to one another, so that you are unable to do whatever you please. ¹⁸ But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

²³ And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

⁹ For the fruits of light are found in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth;

¹¹ And be filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and the praise of God.

⁴ Rejoice in our LORD alway; and again I say, Rejoice. ⁵ Let your humility be known to all men. Our LORD is at hand. ⁶ Do not worry over things; but always by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ. ⁸ Finally, my brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ⁹ Those things, which you have learned and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

¹⁰ That you might live a righteous life, please God with all good works, and bring forth good fruits, and grow in the knowledge of God;

¹² Therefore as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on mercy, kindness, gentleness, humbleness of mind, meekness, patience; ¹³ Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another; and if any one has a complaint against his fellow man, just as Christ forgave you, so should you also forgive. ¹⁴ And with all these things have love, which is the bond of perfection. ¹⁵ And let the peace of Christ govern your hearts; for that end, you are called in one body; and be thankful to Christ; ¹⁶ And let his word dwell in you abundantly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to God. ¹⁷ And whatever you do in word or deed, do it in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

³ Mentioning before God the Father the works of your faith and the labor of your love, and the patience of your hope in our LORD Jesus Christ. ⁴ For we know that you are the elected ones, my brethren, and beloved of God. ⁵ For our preaching to you was not in words only, but also in power, and with the Holy Spirit, and with sincere assurance; and you know also how we lived among you for your sakes. ⁶ And you became followers of us, and of our LORD, for you welcomed the word with much tribulation and with joy of the Holy Spirit: ⁷ Thus you have become examples to all the believers in Mac-e-doÆni-a and A-chaÆia. ⁸ Not only have you sounded out the word of our LORD in Mac-e-doÆni-a and A-chaÆia but also, in every place your faith in God has been heard so that we need not speak anything about you. ⁹ For these people themselves relate how we entered first among you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God; ¹⁰ To wait for his Son from heaven, even Jesus, whom he raised from the dead, for it is he who will deliver us from the wrath to come.

¹⁰ Who died for us, that whether we awake or sleep, we shall live together with him. ¹¹ Wherefore comfort one another and edify one another, even as also you do. ¹² We beseech you, my brethren, to respect those who labor among you, and admonish you in our LORD and teach you; ¹³ That you esteem them very highly in love, and be at peace with them for their workÆs sake. ¹⁴ Now we beseech you, my brethren, correct those who offend, comfort those who lack courage, bear the burdens of the weak, and be patient toward all men. ¹⁵ See that none of you render evil for evil; but always follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. ¹⁶ Be joyful always. ¹⁷ Pray without ceasing. ¹⁸ In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Jesus Christ concerning you. ¹⁹ Do not quench the Spirit. ²⁰ Do not reject prophecies. ²¹ Prove all things, uphold that which is good. ²² Abstain from every sort of evil.

² And that we may be delivered from evil and unreasonable men: for not every man has faith.

¹¹ Likewise their wives must be chaste, have an alert mind, faithful in all things, and they must not be slanderers.

¹² Let no man despise your youth; but you be an example to believers, in word, in behaviour, in love, in faith, and in purity.

² Teach the older men to be vigilant, sober, pure, sound in faith, in love, charity and patience. ³ Teach the older women likewise, to behave as becomes the worship of God, not false accusers, not enslaved to much wine, but to become teachers of good things; ⁴ That they may teach the young women to be modest, to love their husbands and their children, ⁵ To be discreet, chaste, good home keepers, obedient to their own husbands, so that no one can reproach the word of God. ⁶ Likewise exhort the young to be modest. ⁷ In every thing show yourself an example in all good works, and in your teaching let your word be sound. ⁸ Choose sound words that are instructive so that no man can point the finger of scorn at us, and so that he who is against us may be shamed, when he can find nothing evil to say about us. ⁹ Exhort servants to be obedient to their own masters and to please them well in all things not contentious; ¹⁰ Not stealing but manifesting true sincerity that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. ¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has been revealed to all men. ¹² It teaches us to renounce ungodliness and worldly lusts, and to live in this world soberly, righteously, and in godliness;

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above is first pure then full of peace, and gentle, obedient, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. ¹⁸ And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by the peacemakers.

⁸ Whom you have not seen, but whom you yet love, and in whose faith you rejoice with exceeding joy that cannot be described;

²² Let your souls be sanctified by obedience to the truth, and be filled with sincere love, so that you may love one another with pure and perfect hearts:

¹² By Sil-vaÆnus, a faithful brother, I have written you these things briefly according to my opinion, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein you stand.

⁵ And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith, virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; ⁶ And to knowledge, self-control; and to selfcontrol, patience; and to patience; godliness; ⁷ And to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. ⁸ For when these things are found among you and abound, you are not empty nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our LORD Jesus Christ.

⁷ My beloved, let us love one another: for love is from God; and every one who loves is born of God, and knows God. ⁸ He who does not love, does not know God; for God is love. ⁹ By this was the love of God toward us made known, for God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. ¹⁰ Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that God loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ My beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. ¹² No man has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is perfected in us; ¹³ Hereby we know that we abide in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. ¹⁴ And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world. ¹⁵ Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ And we have believed and have known the love that God has for us. God is love; and he who dwells in love, abides in God.
