²² For Moses said, The LORD shall raise up a prophet like me for you from among your brethren; listen to him in all that he shall say to you.

⁴ Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, My Lord, it is better for us to remain here; and if you wish, we will make three shelters here, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. ⁵ And while he was speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud saying, This is my beloved Son, I am pleased with him; hear him.

⁴ And there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus. ⁵ And Peter said to him, Teacher, it is better for us to remain here; and let us make three shelters, one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah. ⁶ For he did not know what he was saying, for they were in fear. ⁷ And there was a cloud overshadowing them, and a voice out of the cloud said, This is my beloved Son; hear him.

³⁰ And behold, two men were speaking with him, who were Moses and Elijah; ³¹ Who appeared in glory, and spoke concerning his departure which was to end at Jerusalem. ³² And Simon and those who were with him were heavy with sleep; and when they awoke they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him. ³³ And when they began to leave him, Simon said to Jesus, Teacher, it is better for us to remain here; and let us make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah; but he did not know what he was saying. ³⁴ And when he had said these things, there came a cloud and overshadowed them; and they were frightened when they saw Moses and Elijah enter into the cloud. ³⁵ And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son; hear him.

³³ But I must do my work today and tomorrow, and I will leave the next day; because it is impossible that a prophet should perish outside of Jerusalem.

¹⁹ He said to them, What things? They said to him, About Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was a prophet, mighty in word and deed before God and before all the people.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses; but truth and grace came into being by Jesus Christ.

²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, He who hears my word, and believes him who has sent me, has everlasting life; and he does not come before the judgment, but he passes from death to life.

³⁹ Examine the scriptures, in which you trust that you have eternal life; and even they testify concerning me. ⁴⁰ Yet you will not come to me, that you might have life everlasting. ⁴¹ I do not receive any praise from men. ⁴² But I know you well, that the love of God is not in you. ⁴³ I have come in the name of my Father, and you do not receive me; if another should come in his own name, you will receive him. ⁴⁴ How can you believe, when you accept praise one from another, but the praise from God only, you do not want? ⁴⁵ Why, do you think that I will accuse you before the Father; there is one who will accuse you, even Moses, in whom you trust. ⁴⁶ For if you had believed in Moses, you would also have believed in me; because Moses wrote concerning me. ⁴⁷ If you do not believe his writings, how then can you believe my words?

¹² Again Jesus spoke to them and said, I am the light of the world; he who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but he shall find for himself the light of life.

⁴⁶ I have come into the world as the light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

³⁷ This is the Moses who said to the children of Israel, The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet, like me, from among your brethren; give heed to him.

³ For the law was weak through the weakness of the flesh, so God sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin, in order to condemn sin by means of his flesh:

⁵ Whose are the fathers, from among whom Christ appeared in the flesh, who is God over all, to whom are due praises and thanksgiving, for ever and ever. Amen.

⁴ But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son who, born of a woman, became subject to the law,

¹ FROM of old God spoke to our fathers by the prophets in every manner and in all ways; and in these latter days, he has spoken to us by his Son; ² Whom he has appointed heir of all things, and by whom also he made the worlds;

¹ THEREFORE, we should give earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time they be lost.

⁹ We see that he is Jesus who humbled himself to be a little lower than the angels, through his suffering and his death, but now he is crowned with glory and honor; for he tasted death for the sake of every one but God. ¹⁰ And it was meet and proper for him, in whose hand is everything and for whom are all things, to bring many sons to glory, so that from the very beginning of their salvation, they are made perfect through sufferings. ¹¹ For both he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all of one origin: for this reason he is not ashamed to call them brethren, ¹² Saying, I will declare thy name to my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. ¹³ And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold me and the children which God has given me. ¹⁴ Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also likewise partook of the same; and by his death he has destroyed him who had the power of death, that is, the devil. ¹⁵ And has released them who, through fear of death all their lives, were subject to slavery. ¹⁶ For he did not take on him the pattern of angels; but he did take on him the seed of Abraham. ¹⁷ Therefore it was meet and proper that in every thing he should resemble his brethren, that he might be a merciful, and faithful high priest in the things of God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

⁹ And he grew to be perfect, and became the author of life everlasting to all who obey him;
