²¹ Prove all things, uphold that which is good.

¹⁵ Be careful of false prophets who come to you in lambÆs clothing, but within they are ravening wolves. ¹⁶ You will know them by their fruits. Why, do they gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? ¹⁷ So every good tree bears good fruits; but a bad tree bears bad fruits. ¹⁸ A good tree cannot bear bad fruits, neither can a bad tree bear good fruits. ¹⁹ Any tree which does not bear good fruits will be cut down and cast into the fire. ²⁰ Thus by their fruits you will know them.

¹⁴ Then Jesus called all the people and said to them, Hear me, all of you, and understand. ¹⁵ There is nothing outside of a man, if it should enter into him, which can defile him; but what goes out of him, that defiles the man.

⁵⁷ Why do you not of yourselves judge what is right?

³¹ Then Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, If you abide by my word, you are truly my disciples.

⁴ Remain with me and I with you. Just as a branch cannot give fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine; even so you cannot, unless you remain with me.

²³ When he came there and saw the grace of God, he was glad, and he pleaded with them that they should follow our LORD with all their hearts.

²² Strengthening the souls of the converts, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and telling them that only through much tribulation can we enter into the kingdom of God.

¹¹ For the Jews there were more liberal than the Jews who were in Thes-sa-lo-niÆca, in that they gladly heard the word daily, and searched the scriptures to find out if these things were so.

² Do not imitate the way of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, that you may discern what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

⁹ Let not your love be deceitful. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

¹¹ For what man knows the mind of man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so, no man knows the mind of God, except the Spirit of God.

¹⁴ For the material man rejects spiritual things, for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. ¹⁵ But the spiritual man discerns every thing, and yet no man can discern him.

²⁸ But if there is no one to interpret, let him who speaks in an unknown tongue keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God. ²⁹ Let the prophets speak two or three in turn, and let the others discern what is said.

⁵⁸ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the LORD, for as much as you know that your labor is not in vain in the LORD.

¹⁰ And so you must discern that which is acceptable before our LORD.

¹⁰ So that you may choose the things that are excellent; and that you may be pure and without offence in the day of Christ;

¹⁶ Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same path and with one accord.

⁸ Finally, my brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

¹⁵ Henceforth, my brethren, stand fast, and hold to the commandments which you have been taught, either by word, or by our epistle.

¹⁵ This you know: that all those in Asia Minor have turned away from me; of whom are Phy-gelÆlus and Her-mogÆe-nes.

⁶ For of this sort are those who creep into houses and captivate women sunken in sin, led away with divers lusts,

¹⁴ Alexander, the blacksmith, has done me much evil: our LORD reward him according to his works:

²³ Let us remain firm in the profession of our faith without wavering: for he who has promised us is faithful.

¹ MY beloved, do not believe every prophecy, but examine the prophecies to find out if they are of God: because many false prophets have appeared in the world.

² I know your works, and your labour, and your patience, and how you cannot endure those who are ungodly: you have tried those who say they are apostles, and are not, and you have found them liars:

²⁵ But hold fast to that which you already have till I come.

³ Remember, therefore, just as you have received and heard, so hold fast and repent. And if, therefore, you do not awake, I will come against you as a thief, and you shall not know at what hour I will come upon you.

¹¹ Behold I come quickly. Hold that fast which you have, so that no man take your crown.
