¹⁰ The Lord will weaken his adversary; the Lord [is] holy. Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, nor let the mighty man boast in his strength, and let not the rich man boast in his wealth; but let him that boasts boast in this, to understand and know the Lord, and to execute judgment and justice in the midst of the earth. The Lord has gone up to the heavens, and has thundered: he will judge the extremities of the earth, and he gives strength to our kings, and will exalt the horn of his Christ. And she left him there before the Lord,

¹ And the Lord said to Samuel, How long do you mourn for Saul, whereas I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and come, I will send you to Jessae, to Bethleem; for I have seen among his sons a king for me.

¹³ He shall build for me a house to my name, and I will set up his throne even for ever.

¹¹ And it shall come to pass when your days shall be fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, that I will raise up your seed after you, which shall be of your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹² He shall build me a house, and I will set up his throne for ever. ¹³ I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son: and my mercy will I not withdraw from him, as I withdrew [it] from them that were before you. ¹⁴ And I will establish him in my house and in his kingdom for ever; and his throne shall be set up for ever.

²⁷ And now you have begun to bless the house of your servant, so that it should continue for ever before you: for you, Lord, have blessed [it], and do you bless [it] for ever.

⁶ But I have been made king by him on Sion his holy mountain,

³ Turn not man back to [his] low place, whereas you said, Return, you⌃ sons of men? ⁴ For a thousand years in your sight are as the yesterday which is past, and as a watch in the night.

¹⁰ Let all your works, O Lord, give thanks to you; and let your saints bless you.

⁶ For a child is born to us, and a son is given to us, whose government is upon his shoulder: and his name is called the Messenger of great counsel: for I will bring peace upon the princes, and health to him. ⁷ His government shall be great, and of his peace there is no end: [it shall be] upon the throne of David, and [upon] his kingdom, to establish it, and to support [it] with judgment and with righteousness, from henceforth and forever. The seal of the Lord of hosts shall perform this.
