¹⁸ And they shall be as chaff before the wind, or as dust which the storm has taken up.

⁷ And in the abundance of your glory you have broken the adversaries to pieces: you sent forth your wrath, it devoured them as stubble.

²⁵ Will you be startled [at me], as [at] a leaf shaken by the wind? or will you set yourself against me as against grass borne upon the breeze?

⁴ Not so the ungodly; —not so: but rather as the chaff which the wind scatters away from the face of the earth.

⁵ O Lord, your mercy is in the heaven; and your truth [reaches] to the clouds.

²⁴ Therefore as stubble shall be burnt by a coal of fire, and shall be consumed by a violent flame, their root shall be as chaff, and their flower shall go up as dust: for they rejected the law of the Lord of hosts, and insulted the word of the Holy One of Israel.

¹³ many nations like much water, as when much water rushes violently: and they shall drive him away, and pursue him afar, as the dust of chaff when men winnow before the wind, and as a storm whirling the dust of the wheel.

⁵ But the wealth of the ungodly shall be as dust from a wheel, and the multitude of them that oppress you as flying chaff, and it shall be suddenly as a moment,

²⁴ For they shall not plant, neither shall they sow, neither shall their root be fixed in the ground: he has blown upon them, and they are withered, and a storm shall carry them away like sticks.

¹⁵ Behold, I have made you as new saw-shaped threshing wheels of a waggon; and you shall thresh the mountains, and beat the hills to powder, and make [them] as chaff: ¹⁶ and you shall winnow [them], and the wind shall carry them away, and a tempest shall scatter them: but you shall rejoice in the holy ones of Israel.

²⁴ So I scattered them as sticks carried by the wind into the wilderness.

³ Therefore shall they be as a morning cloud, and as the early dew that passes away, as chaff blown away from the threshing floor, and as a vapor from tears.

¹⁰ For [the enemy] shall be laid bare even to the foundation, and shall be devoured as twisted yew, and as stubble fully dry.
